Jean Horning Leslie, 77, of Marion, passed away May 4, 2003 at his home. He was a member of Marion Baptist Church.
Surviving are three sons, Larry Leslie of Tampa, Fla., Dale Leslie of Marion and Glen Leslie of Chicago, Ill.; a daughter, Lynette Van Baber of Newport Ritchie, Fla.; a sister, Willa Belle Arflack of Marion; and one granddaughter.
Funeral services were held May 7 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Darrell Clarke officiating. Burial was in Crooked Creek Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Marion Baptist Church, 131 E. Depot Street, Marion, KY 42064.
Jones
Graveside services for Jodie Jones, 69, of Tolu, were held May 6, 2003 at Baker Church Cemetery with Rev. Robert Phillips officiating. He passed away May 3 at Crittenden Hospital.
Survivors include nine sons, Joseph Jones, Jack Jones, Jeff Jones, Justin Jones and Jerald Jones, all of Marion, Jesse Jones of Salem, Ind., John Jones of Providence and James Jones and Jason Jones, both of Princeton; five sisters; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Walker Jones and his parents, Jeff and Ruby Robinson Jones.
Morgan's Funeral Home in Princeton was in charge of arrangements.
Little
Services for Richard A. Little, 40, of Marion, were held April 27, 2003 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Rev. Wayne Carter, Rev. Tommy Hodge and Rev. Roy Little officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Little passed away April 24 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. (See related story, page 1A).
Little was a 1983 graduate of Columbia High School in Columbia, Ill., and attended Mid-Continent College in Mayfield. He was a member of Crooked Creek Baptist Church and was employed by Tyson Foods in Robards.
Survivors include his parents, Jewell and Shelby Little of Marion; a brother, Charles Little of East Prairie, Mo.; grandmother, Christine Simpson of Marion; several aunts, uncles, nieces and cousins.
Hooper
MORGANFIELD, Ky. - Sue Hunter Hooper, 59, passed away April 27, 2003.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne G. Hooper; two stepdaughters, Kelly Wolfe and Kim Cartwright, both of Morganfield; a stepson, John Wayne Hooper of Morganfield; a sister, Shirley Hunter Williams of Marion; a brother, Gerald Hunter of Morganfield; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held April 30 at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield with Rev. Jim Lane officiating. Burial was in Odd Fellow Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony's Hospice or Henshaw Christian Church.
Turner
EAST PEORIA, Ill. - Pleas R. Turner, 83, formerly of Livingston County, passed away April 27, 2003 at Rosewood Care Center in Peoria.
He was a welder at Caterpillar in East Peoria before retiring in the early 1980s. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Recie Tharp Turner of East Peoria; a daughter, Debbie Dickinson of Troy, Mich.; a sister, Julie Smartz of Golconda, Ill.; several nieces and nephews and three grandsons.
His parents were Charles Edward and Martha Holloman Turner. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, two sisters and a brother.
Funeral services were held April 30 at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Phillips officiating. Burial followed in Lola Cemetery.
Simpson
Barbara Ann Simpson, 61 of Marion, passed away April 26, 2003 at Hilltop Nursing Home in Kuttawa. Funeral services will be held May 3 at Piney Fork Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Gilbert Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, James D. Simpson of Marion; two sons, James Hoshaw of Marion and Mark Allan Simpson of Huntsville, Ala.; three daughters, Denice Marie Ray of Waterford, Mich., Beth Ann Criss of Canton, Mich., and Michelle Dawn Kromm of Garden City, Mich.; her mother, Teresa Putnam of Westland, Mich.; a sister, Rita Miller of Port Charlotte, Fla.; two brothers, Gary Putnam and Clifton Putnam, Jr., both of Canton.

James Johnson, 79, of Marion, passed away April 25, 2003 at Crittenden County Convalescent Center. He was a member and deacon of Barnett Chapel Church and a member of Masonic Lodge #812 in Carrsville.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Belt Johnson of Tolu; two daughters, Phyllis Drury of Marion and Ada Nell Johnson of Fayetteville, Ga.; a son, James Eddie Johnson of Tolu; and a granddaughter.
His parents were Luther and Adda Belt Johnson. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Funeral services were held April 27 at Barnett Chapel Church with Rev. David Winders and Rev. Loyd Harris officiating. Burial was in White's Chapel Cemetery.
Boyd Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Beavers
Melvin C. "Granny" Beavers, 88, of Marion, passed away April 30, 2003 at Crittenden Hospital. She was a member of Mexico Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Blackburn and Mary Feagan, both of Fredonia; four sons, Bill Beavers of Mt. Dora, Fla., and Ken Beavers, Jerry Beavers and Donald Beavers, all of Marion; a sister, Eva Mae Owen of Centralia, Ill; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Beavers; two daughters, Grace Baird and an infant, Catherine Beavers; two brothers; and her parents, Perce and Etta Travis.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Archie Brock and Rev. Rodney Groff officiating. Burial will be in Mexico Cemetery.

Butler
HOWELL, Mich. - Lovie Oleta Butler, 90, of Howell, Mich., formerly of Marion, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2003 at Medilodge Nursing Home in Howell.
She was a member of Cave Springs General Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Lynn Metty of Ulster Park, N.Y.; one son, Ralph Butler of Pinckney, Mich.; one sister-in-law, Bertha Butler of Tucson, Ariz.; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Lee Butler. Her parents were Henry and Lora May Riley.
Funeral services were April 17 at Gilbert Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Phillips and the Rev. Dale Ford officiating. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.
Woodall
FREDONIA - Regina Woodall, 70, of Fredonia, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2003 at Crittenden County Hospital after a long illness.
She is survived by her husband, Walton E. Woodall Jr. of Fredonia; mother, Corene Watson York of Marion; sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Gayle Hill of Evansville, Ind., Rich and Vickie Hill of Newburgh, Ind., David and Carin Hill of Evansville, Ind., Ross Hill of Evansville, Ind., and Wendy Woodall of Fort Bragg, N.C.; daughter and son-in-law, KaDonna and Joe Nichols of Cadiz; one brother, Doyle Jennings of Marion; three sisters, Mary Rose Clark of Marion, Donna Minton of Marion and Sandy Newell of Madisonville; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were Saturday, April 19 at First Baptist Church of Fredonia with the Rev. David Fambrough officiating, followed by burial in Hill Cemetery.

Brown
EDDYVILLE - Louise Brown, 76, of Eddyville, passed away Friday, April 18, 2003, at her home following a long illness.
A homemaker, she was a member of Eddyville United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Brown, a brother and two sisters. Her parents were Austin Barnett and Nettie Downing Barnett.
Survivors include two brothers, Ted Barnett of Webster, Fla., Gerald Barnett of Elkton; three sisters, Ann Travis of Fredonia, Joyce Rathbunn of Tucson, Ariz., Lela McDonald of Clinton, Mich.; stepsister, Joann Schroeder of Jacksonville, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.
Services were Monday, April 21 at Morgan's Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Douglas Downing and the Rev. Bob Bouser officiating, followed by burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
