Cummings
BROWNSBURG, Ind. - Howard J. Cummings, 73, of Brownsburg, passed away Friday, Jan. 17, 2003 in Danville, Ind.
A native of Crittenden County, his parents were Jake Thomas Cummings and Nona May Fralex.
He was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked for 15 years in security at RCA Corporation before retiring in 1985. He was a member of Apostolic Bible Church of Brownsburg and American Legion Post #331 of Brownsburg.
He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Campbell Cummings; three daughters, Chari Lawrence of Brownsburg, Ind., Judy Cummings of Avon, Ind., and Lori Herbert of Bainbridge, Ind.; two sons, David Cummings of Indianapolis and Ric Cummings of Avon, Ind.; two stepdaughters, Janette Murray of Flushing, Mich, and Jeannine McNamara of Pittsboro, Ind.; two stepsons, Skip Marsh of St. Louis, Mo., and Edward Marsh of Indianapolis; two sisters, Martha Driver of Princeton, and Leora Landers of Marion; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services were Jan. 20 at Conkle Funeral Home in Avon with the Rev. Jack McIntosh officiating. Burial was at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown, Ind.

Brown
Lennie M. Brown, 92, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003 at Crittenden County Convalescent Center.
She is survived by two daughters, Betty Bond and Shirley Fritts, both of Marion; one son, Roy J. Brown of Buffalo, West Va.; one sister, Dorothy Paris of Marion; one brother, Anis Hunt of Iowa; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Brown.
Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 18 at Gilbert Funeral Home with the Rev. Ancil Edmonson and the Rev. Wayne Carter officiating. Burial in Mapleview Cemetery.

Whited
Reba (Hunt) Ferrell Whited, 74, formerly of Marion, passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003 at Halifax Memorial Hospital in Daytona, Fla., after a brief bout with cancer.
Born and raised in Marion, she worked for RCA from 1959 through 1975 after moving to Indianapolis - in 1955. - In 1981 she retired to Seville, Fla.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Whited of Seville, Fla.; and a son, Harold W. Ferrell, of Owensboro. Her father was Frank Hunt.
Clayton Frank & Sons were in charge of arrangements. Private memorial services were held at Pine Island Hide-A-Way. -
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Reba Whited Memorial Fund, C/O Harold Ferrell, 826 Mary Lou Court, Owensboro, KY 42303.

Dorris
Mary Sue Dorris, 54, of Fredonia, passed away Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003 at Crittenden Hospital.
Mrs. Dorris is survived by her husband, Terry Dorris of Fredonia; two sons, Chris Dorris of Fredonia and Marty Dorris of Marion; one daughter, Angela Maples of Benton; three brothers, Arthur Eberle of Arkansas, Bill Eberle of Marion and Bob Eberle of Burna; five sisters, Melva Doane of Burna, Martha Lou Watson and Pat Collins, both of Marion, Maggie Eberle of Princeton, Anabell Lantham of Muhlenberg County; and one grandchild, Harley Maples.
Her parents were Arthur Grady and Lillie Mae Eberle.
Services were Tuesday, Jan. 21 at Boyd Funeral Home in Salem with Brother Buddy Hix officiating, and burial in Salem Cemetery.

Asbridge
William Elzie Asbridge, 74, of Diamond, Ill., formerly of Marion, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003 at his home.
He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Asbridge of Diamond, Ill.; three daughters, LaDonna West of Lake Geneva, Mich., Frankie Haney and Brenda Winders, both of Marion; two sons, William Marty of Marion and William Elzie Asbridge Jr. of Coal City, Ill.; one sister, Elsie Crouch of Marion; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 10 at Gilbert Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Carter officiating. Burial in Bethlehem Cemetery in Omaha, Ill.

Collins
Hanna Louise Collins, 72, of Marion, passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2003 at Crittenden Hospital.
She was a member of Second Baptist Church of Marion.
Survivors include her husband, Roy Collins of Marion; three sons, Arville Collins of Marion, Steve Collins of Clay and William Collins of Salem; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Jan. 22 at Gilbert Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Phillips officiating, followed by burial in Repton Cemetery.

Franks
Ernest Lilbert Franks, 83, of Brunswick, Ga., formerly of Marion, passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003.
He is survived by one son, David Franks of Portland, Ore.; two brothers, Raymond D. Franks of Sun City, Ariz., and William B. Franks of Arkansas; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Franks was preceded in death by his wife, Laura M. Franks, on Dec. 24, 2002.
Graveside services were Saturday, Jan. 18 at Mt. Zion Cemetery with the Rev. Gates Bowman officiating. Arrangements by Gilbert Funeral Home.

Carlisle
Carrie R. "Jimmie" Carlisle, 56, of Blackford, Ky., passed away Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003 at her home.
She was a member of First General Baptist Church in Clay.
Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Joel Carlisle; two daughters, Heady Catherine McCormick and Carrie Allison McCormick, both of Clay; one son, Robert David Gatlin of Benton; mother, Bobbie Heady Whitherspoon of Blackford; two brothers, Brenton Whitherspoon of Mattoon and Dwight Whitherspoon of Marion; and six grandchildren.
Her father was James Whitherspoon. She was also preceded in death by a brother.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Jan. 21 at First General Baptist Church in Clay, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery near Blackford.
The family requests memorials take the form of contributions to St. Anthony's Hospice of Webster County.
Vanover Funeral Home of Clay handled arrangements.

Hall
Erma E. Hall, 83, of Evansville, Ind., formerly of Livingston County, passed away Monday, Jan. 20, 2003 at her home.
She was a member of Dyer Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Wesley Prestone Hall of Evansville; one son, Wesley Berry Hall of Evansville; three daughters, Shirley Williams of Evansville, Wanda Billings of Boonville, Ind., and Hilda Ickhoff of Hazelwood, Mo.; one stepdaughter, Geneloyn Slepecki of Pittsburg, Pa.; one sister, Louise Osborne of Burna; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother and sister. Her parents were Lace and Lucy Waters Henry.
Funeral services are today (Thursday), Jan. 23, at 11 a.m. at Boyd Funeral Home in Salem with the Rev. Randy Beals officiating. Burial will be in Dyer Hill Cemetery.

Hook
Zula Maxfield Hook, 92, of Smithland, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003 at Western Baptist Hospital.
She was a member of Smithland Chapter #417 Order of the Eastern Star and a member of McMurray Chapel Church.
Survivors include one brother, Dallas Maxfield of Smithland.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, George Ramage, and second husband, Albert Hook.
Eastern Star rites are Thursday (today) at Boyd Funeral Home in Salem. The funeral is - Friday, Jan. 24 at the funeral home. The Rev. John Bowling and the Rev. E.J. Hatoon will officiate, with burial to follow in McMurray Chapel Cemetery.
