Calvin E. Brown, 77, of Marion, passed away Oct. 9, 2003 at Livingston Hospital. He was a member of Seven Springs Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge Liberty #580, served in the Army and is a veteran of WW II.
Surviving are his wife, Clara Guess Brown of Marion; one son, Jerald Brown of Portage, Ind.; two grandsons, Jerry Brown and Brian Brown, all of Hobart, Ind.; and one great-grandson, Troy Brown of Hobart.
He is preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Brown; a brother, Carl Brown; a sister, Catherine Penn; and his parents, Wilie and Linnie Travis Brown.
Funeral services were held Oct. 12 at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Howton and Rev. Don Guess officiating. Burial was in Asbridge Cemetery.
Riley
Dora E. Riley, 80, of Marion, passed away Oct. 10, 2003 at Salem Springlake Care Center. She attended Union Baptist Church.
She is survived by three sons, Daniel O. Riley of Marion, William Riley of Symsonia and Luther Riley of Abdington, Ill.; two daughters, Donna Cooper and Betty Meyer, both of Paducah; one brother, Don Slaton of Madisonville; two sisters, Frances Herrin of Repton and Betty Jean Janois of Chicago; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther O. Riley; a son, Robert Clifton Riley; a grandson, William Earl Riley, Jr.; two brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services were held Oct. 13 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Phillips officiating. Burial was in Repton Cemetery.
Head
Funeral services for Wayne Head, 60, of Marion were held Oct. 15, 2003 at Boyd Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Carter and Rev. David Davis officiating. Burial was in the New Union General Baptist Church Cemetery.
He passed away Oct. 13 at Crittenden Hospital.
Head was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Surviving are his stepfather John Atwood and aunt, Jewel Leen Atwood, both of Marion; a half brother, Dennis R. Atwood of Pensacola, Fla.; an aunt Florida Gibsons of Chicago; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ed and Georgia Wright Head.
Griffith
SALEM, Ky. - Leona Catherine Griffith, 94, passed away Oct. 2, 2003 at Salem Springlake Care Center. She was a member of Marion Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sister, Lora Mae Franklin of Marion; a niece; and several cousins.
Funeral services were held Oct. 4 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Darrell Clarke and Rev. Stuart Collins officiating. Burial was at Mexico Cemetery.

Chittenden
JOY, Ky. - Beverly R. Chittenden, 96, passed away Oct. 4, 2003 at Salem Springlake Care Center. Services were held Oct. 5 at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. Lynn Farlee officiating.
Chittenden was a graduate of Western Kentucky State College and taught in the Livingston County school system for 15 years before joining the staff of Salem Bank. She retired from banking after 35 years. She was secretary of the Salem Hospital Board, a member of the Order of Eastern Star and was active in the Kentucky Women Bankers organization.
Surviving are a niece, Linda Munson of Louisville; a nephew, Roe Vaughn of Birmingham; two great-nieces; and a great-nephew.
Chittenden was preceded in death by her parents, J.S.D. and Claudina Chittenden; four sisters, Hazel C. Vaughn, Audrey M. Chittenden, Ruth B. Chittenden and Mary A. Chittenden.
Guess
Fred E. Guess, 74, of Marion, passed away Sept. 26, 2003 at Paducah Centre for Health and Rehabilitation.
Surviving are two sisters, Ann Guess of Marion and Laura June Miller of St. Louis; and two brothers, Tom Guess and LeRoy Guess, both of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Reginald and Duke Binkley Guess; two brothers; and a sister.
Funeral services were held Sept. 29 at Boyd Funeral Home, with Rev. A.C. Hodge officiating. Burial was in Pinckneyville Cemetery.

Enoch
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Robert "Bob" Enoch, 81, formerly of Marion, passed away Sept. 26, 2003 in Urbana, Ill. He was a member of Bigham Masonic Lodge #256 in Marion.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy "Dot" Enoch of Champaign; two sons, Michael Enoch of Madison, Ind., and Keith Enoch of Bloomington, Ind.; two daughters, Lawna Graf of South Bend, Ill., and Gayl Jacobson of Champaign; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Cora Enoch Sr.; and a brother.
Funeral services were held Sept. 29 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Jamie Baker officiating. Burial was in Deer Creek Cemetery.

Gass
Funeral services for Glenn "Egg" Gass, 89, of Marion, were held Oct. 1, 2003 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Darrell Clarke and Rev. Chris Clarke officiating. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.
Gass is survived by his daughter, Shelby Clevenger of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Katie Gass, and his parents, Myrtle and Luther Gass.

Cooper
Graveside services for Roy Nevall Cooper, 84, of Marion, were held Oct. 1, 2003 at Lola Cemetery. Cooper passed away Sept. 28 at Crittenden Hospital. Rev. Robert Phillips officiated.
Cooper was the postmaster at Lola Post Office for 34 years and was owner/operator of Coopers Grocery. He was a charter member of Marion Country Club. He served as a Cpl.1st Class in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II where he was engaged in the South Pacific campaign including Guadalcanal, New Britain, Tarawa, Saipan and Iwo Jima.
Cooper's 10th Marine battalion (Forgotten Battalion) 2nd Marine Division received commendations for close artillery support during the invasion of Guadalcanal and received recognition for participating in more major campaigns over a shorter period of time than any battalion in the Marine Corps. Cpl. Cooper was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement during offensive operations against enemy Japanese forces on Iwo Jima.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Newcom Cooper of Marion; a daughter, Cathie Jean Cooper Champion of Paducah; two stepsons, Jerry Hill of Las Vegas and Johnny Hill of Martinsville, Ind.; a brother, Art Cooper of Marion; a sister, Alma Lumas of Tyler, Texas; two grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis Ann Johnson Cooper; his parents, Dollie Sutton and A.B. Cooper of Marion, Ill., and two brothers, Harry and Emmit Cooper.

Marglin
Warren Marglin, 93, of Salem, passed away Sept. 24, 2003 at Salem Springlake Care Center. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
Surviving re two daughters, Vickie Thompson of Salem and Karen Sue Roberts of LaGrange; three sons, James Robert Marglin of Reno, Nev., Paul Wayne Marglin of Kevil and Warren Curtis Marglin of Salem; and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, LaWanda marglin; his parents, Robert and Eulalia Jackson Marglin; a brother; and three sister.
Funeral services were Sept. 27 at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. John East officiating. Burial was in Salem Cemetery.
