SUN CITY, Ariz. Graveside services for Raymond D. Franks, 81, formerly of Marion, will be held at 11 a.m., April 22, 2004 at Mapleview cemetery.
Franks passed away April 15. He was an elder at Cullen Avenue Christian Church in Evansville. He was a graduate of the University of Evansville, was retired from the Corp of Engineers after 30 years, was a veteran of World War II where he served in the Army and received a Purple Heart. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Marion and was a member of the Scottish Rite and Hadi Shrine in Evansville.
He is survived by his wife, Geneva Franks of Sun City; a daughter, Barbara Lynn of Atlanta; a son, Larry Franks of Alta Loma, Calif; a brother, Bill Franks of Amity, Ark; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Emma Franks; and two brothers.
Holliman
PADUCAH, Ky. Loah Mitchell Holliman, 82, formerly of Salem, passed away April 16, 2004 at Western Baptist Hospital. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were April 18 at Boyd Funeral Home.
Surviving are three daughters, Brenda Curnel, Wanda Holliman and Debbie Holliman, all of Paducah; a son, Mitchell Holliman of Paducah; two grandsons; a granddaughter; a step granddaughter; four great-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Holliman; a brother, Arnold Mitchell; and her parents, Orbin and Pearl Ramage Mitchell.
Taylor
Marcella K. Taylor, 97, of Marion, passed away April 15, 2004 at Salem Springlake Care Center. She was a member of Marion Baptist Church, Crooked Creek Homemakers, former owner of Ms. Taylor's Fine Foods in Marion. She was a retired nurse.
Surviving are a daughter, Nona Akridge of Fredonia; and a son, Don Taylor of Marion; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Ada Matthews; her husband, Emmett G. Taylor; a son, Thomas F. Taylor; four sisters; and five brothers.
Funeral services were April 19 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Thurman and Rev. Cortis Hill officiating. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.

Hughes
LOUISVILLE, Ky. Joseph Lee Hughes, 82, passed away March 31, 2004. Funeral services were held at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home in Louisville with burial in Resthaven Mausoleum.
Hughes was the captain of the Belle of Louisville for 18 years and a retired master pilot for 35 years for The Valley Barge Line of St. Louis. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Hazelwood Baptist Church and Moose Lodge #5.
He is survived by two sons, Joseph Richard Hughes of Bowling Green and Robert Lacy Hughes of Indianapolis; a sister, Eva Doy Miller; and three grandchildren.
Crowell
FLORENCE, Ala. Mary LaVera Crowell, 74, passed away April 20, 2004. Funeral services will be held at noon April 22 at Spry Serenity Chapel in Florence.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., April 23 at Crayne Cemetery.
Crowell retired in Michigan in 1991 and moved to Crayne where she lived until moving to Florence in 2002. She was active in Highland Baptist Church and the Eastern Star where serving as Worthy Matron.
Surviving are two daughters, Martha Lynn Pederson and Carol Jean Geiger; a son, James Warren Smith; a sister, Ella Jean-Doss Zill; two brothers, Charles Lamar and Orville Lamar; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Belt
SALEM, Ky. Funeral services for Dorothy Jean Belt, 64, will be held April 23, 2004 at New Union General Baptist Church. Bro. David Davis will officiate. Burial will be in New Union/Ditney Cemetery. Boyd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Belt passed away April 20 at Livingston Hospital. She attended New Union General Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sisters, Sue Harris and Peggy Singleton, both of Salem; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ora and Ruth Croft Belt; two brothers, Ruple and Coy Belt; and two sisters, Thelma Belt and Pauline Bradford.
Summers
David E. Summers, 73, of Marion, passed away April 10, 2004 at Crittenden Hospital. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church and Salem Masonic Lodge # 81.
Funeral services were held April 13 at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. Russ Davidson and Rev. John East officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Anna Belle Summers of Marion; a son, Eddie Summers of Marion; a daughter, Debbie McKinney of Henderson; a brother, Percy Summers of Mayfield; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
His parents were Perce and Irene Bracey Summers.
Shouse
Funeral services for Pearlie M. Shouse, 91, of Marion, were held April 13, 2004 at Boyd Funeral Home. Rev. A.C. Hodge, Rev. Darrell Gray and Rev. Ed Clement officiated. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery.
Shouse passed away April 9 at Livingston Hospital. She was a member of Frances Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are two daughters, JoeAnn Asbridge and Judy Tabor, both of Marion; a stepdaughter, Rita Fowler of Marion; a stepson, J.T. Shouse of Morganfield; two grandsons; a granddaughter; and several great-grandchildren and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bradburn Shouse; two brothers a sister; and her parents, Cass and Bertha Merritt Cook.

Todd
Lottie Travis Todd, 97, of the Shady Grove community, passed away April 10, 2004. She was a member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
A graveside service was held at Shady Grove Cemetery April 12 with Rev. John Benton officiating.
Todd is survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Sisco
BURNA, Ky. Alvie Lee Sisco, 64, passed away April 11, 2004. (See story, page 1A.)
Sisco was a heavy equipment operator and member of the Operating Engineers Local 150 since 1965. He was a member of the Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Sisco of Burna; a son, Allen Sisco of Bad Axe, Mich.; a stepson, Justin Minard of Watseka, Ill.; two daughters, Laura Stewart of Pontiac, Ill., and Beverly Sisco of Springfield, Ill.; three sisters, Evalean Curnel of Salem, Shirley Dalton of Kevil and Dorothy Guill of Marion; two brothers, Morris Sisco of Marion and Charles Sisco of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; several nieces and nephews; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy B. Sisco and Rosie Josephine Dickerson Sisco; and two brothers.
Funeral services are April 15 at Boyd Funeral Home with Sister Lucy Tedrick officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery.
Thompson
FREDONIA, Ky. Irene Thompson, 85, passed away April 12, 2004 at Caldwell County Hospital. She was a retired sales clerk for Sears, and was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church.
Funeral services are April 15 at Morgan's Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. Ken Cummins and Rev. Gary Frizzell officiating. Burial will be in Rowland Cemetery.
Surviving are two sons, John Edward Thompson of Oscoda, Mich., and Rev. Steve Thompson of Louisville; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry "Hervy" Thompson; and her parents, Stephen Edward and Sally Eunice Newbell Riley.
