Funeral services for James E. Tabor, 69, of Salem will be held April 16, 2004 at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. Herbert Alexander officiating. Burial will be in New Union/Ditney Cemetery.
Tabor was killed April 10 near the community of Weston (see story, page 1A). He was a member of Carrsville Lodge #812.
Surviving are his wife, Helen Church Tabor of Salem; two daughters, Marie O'Brien of Hobart, Ind., and Nancy Guess of Salem; two sons, Larry Tabor of Salem and David Tabor of Hobart; his father, Marvin Singleton of Salem; two sisters, Carolyn Skog of Brighton, Mich., and Linda Belt of the Mexico community; two brothers, Gary Tabor of Marion and Deon Tabor of Arkansas; two step grandchildren; and nine step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Georgie James Tabor and Velda Marie McFalls Tabor Singleton; and two brothers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the James E. Tabor Trust Fund, c/o Farmers Bank, P.O. Box 5 Salem, KY 42078.
Fitzgerald
John A. Fitzgerald, 79, of Paducah, passed away Monday, April 5, 2004 at Western Baptist Hospital.
A member of Twelve Oaks Baptist Church, he was a Navy veteran of World War II who retired after 21 years of service, and taught for 40 years at the Institute of Electronic Technology.
Survivors include his wife, Wadsecka Newcom Fitzgerald of Paducah; two sons, Timothy Lee Christison and Leonard J. King, both of Paducah; three daughters, Jennie Travis of Providence, Louise Day of Mount Lake Terrace, Wash., and Jo Ann Fitzgerald of Norfolk, Va.; two brothers, Robert Fitzgerald of Braintree, Mass., and Donald Fitzgerald of Ashfield, Mass.; two sisters, Mary L. Dellows of Charlemont, Mass., and Nancy Dimick of Shelburne Falls, Mass.; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first two wives, Edith Abel Fitzgerald and Ella Mae Newcom Fitzgerald, and one brother. His parents were Lewis and Louise Greuling Fitzgerald.
Graveside services are 11 a.m. Friday, April 9 in Mapleview Cemetery in Marion. The Rev. Jim Holloway will officiate.
Friends may call at Lindsey Funeral Home in Paducah from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday (today). Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Twelve Oaks Baptist Church Building Fund, 2517 Olivet Church Road, Paducah KY 42001.
Fennell
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 10 for Marilyn Long Fennell.
Mrs. Fennell, 64, of Nokesville, Va., was formerly of Marion. She passed away recently following an illness.
Friends and family are invited to attend.
Owen
Anna Louise Owen, 64, of Marion, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2004 at Crittenden Hospital.
She is survived by one daughter, Vickie Hodges of Marion; two sons, Kenneth Owen of Marion and Steven Owen of Joy; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Owen was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Douglas Owen.
Services were Saturday, April 3 at Mapleview Cemetery with the Rev. Darrell Clarke officiating.
Niemi
Mildred Charlene Sliger Niemi, 83, of Lillian, Ala., formerly of Marion, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2004.
She was a life member of the Elberta VFW and a member of the Lillian Community Club.
Survivors include three daughters, Kitty W. Rauch of Monticello, Ky, M. Sharon Hoggard of LeClaire, Iowa and Barbara J. Moseley of Pelham, Ala.; one son, Earl W. Hodges of Las Vegas, Nev.; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She had 10 brothers and sisters, some of whom preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Allen A. Niemi, daughter Carolyn S. Dubree and son Gary M. Cannon.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, March 22 at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla., with the Rev. John Stacey officiating.

Wooldridge
Bernice E. Wooldridge, 96, of Florence, Ala., formerly of Salem, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2004 at ECM Hospital in Florence, Ala.
She was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty Carolyn Munger of Florence, Ala.; one brother, Guy Eugene Slayden of Demopolis, Ala.; four grandsons and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Keith Wooldridge, one sister and three brothers. Her parents were Guy and Lula Slayden.
Services were Wednesday, April 7 at Salem Baptist Church with the Rev. John East officiating. Burial was in Old Salem Cemetery.

Virginia Mae May, 81, of Mishawaka, Ind., formerly of Livingston County, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Ind.
Mrs. May was a member of Pleasant Grove General Baptist Church and attended First Baptist Church of Mishawaka.
Survivors include one daughter, Shelia Swinehart of Granger, Ind.; one son, Jimmy Dell May of LaPorte, Ind.; two sisters, Mary Bills and Wilma Belt, both of Salem; one brother, Richard D. Croft of Marion; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. May; one daughter, Sharon Rhodes; three sisters and five brothers. Her parents were Alonzo Wheeler and Molly Mae Newcomb Croft.
Services were Saturday, April 3 at Boyd Funeral Home with Bro. Herbert Alexander officiating. Burial was in Old Salem Cemetery.
Rogers
Esther Ellender Rogers, 87, of Fredonia, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2004 at Crittenden County Convalescent Center.
An acomplished seamstress and an avid gardener and writer, she was a member of Fredonia Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Roy Gleon Rogers of Fredonia; two daughters, Sharron Jenkins of Spring Hill, Fla., and Phillis Kay Rose of Shelbyville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Rogers and one son, Glenn Neil Rogers. Her parents were Willis and Eula Duffey Holman.
Funeral services were Wednesday, April 7, at Gilbert Funeral Home with the Rev. Cortis Hill officiating. Burial was in Crayne Cemetery.

Mitchell
Kate Mitchell, 102, of Marion, passed away Friday, March 26, 2004 at Crittenden County Convalescent Center.
She was a member of Marion United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her son, William Mitchell of Fort Thomas; two daughters, Lois Sullenger and Bettie Cannon, both of Marion; 12 grandchildren and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her husband, Mose Mitchell; four sons, James Mitchell, Robert Mitchell, Clyde Mitchell and Carl Mitchell; five brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were Sunday, March 28 at Gilbert Funeral Home with the Rev. David Winders and the Rev. Wayne Garvey officiating. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.
Love
James "Bob" Love, 87, of Smithland, passed away Friday, March 26, 2004 at Salem Springlake Care Center.
He was a retired farmer, a veteran of World War II and a member of Good Hope Baptist Church.
Mr. Love is survived by Edith McDowell Love, his wife of 58 years; one daughter, Cynthia Hayden of West Paducah; one son, Steve Love of Smithland; one sister, Maude Tolley of Carrsville; one grandson, Alan Doom of Chicago, Ill.; one granddaughter, Sylvia Doyle of Ledbetter; three stepgrandchildren, two stepgreat-grandchildren and one stepgreat-great-grandchild.
His parents were Joe Hickman and Toy Ramage Love. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Services were Monday, March 29 at Boyd Funeral Home in Salem with the Rev. Mac Dossett officiating. Burial took place in Hampton Cemetery.
