MORGANFIELD, Ky. - Funeral services for Josephine Hite Drury, 86, were held July 19, 2005 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Terry Devine officiated. Burial was in St. Peter's Cemetery in Waverly. She passed away July 17 at Morganfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She graduated from St. Vincent Academy in 1937. She and her husband opened Drury's Candyland in 1962, which they owned and operated until their retirement.
Surviving are two daughters, Yvonne Davis of Morganfield and Margie Belt of Marion; two sons, Marlin Drury of Waverly and James Drury of Gilbertsville; a sister, Florence Henshaw of Morganfield; a brother, James Roy Lambert of Evansville; 17 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Clinton; a son, Don Drury; her step father, Roy Lambert; and her mother, Margaret Lambert.

Barton
Herman Junior Barton, 76, of Marion, passed away July 18, 2005 at Livingston Hospital.
Services were July 20 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery with Rev. John East officiating.
Wolf
John R. Wolf, Jr., 19, of Marion, passed away July 11, 2005 in a car accident in Lyon County. (See story, page 1A).
Wolf was a member of Life in Christ Church where he played drums and guitar in the Christian bands Monday's Voice, Final Reign and Life in Christ Praise Group.
He is survived by his mother, Sharon Winters of Marion; his father, John Wolf, Sr., of Clarksville; his stepfather, Billy Winters of Marion; his stepmother, Kim Wolf of Clarksville; four sisters, Christina Cinkovich, Nicole Quinton, Jennifer Wolf, all of Marion, and Melanie Long of Bowling Green; and his grandparents, Herman and Ioma Dortch of Shawneetown, Ill.
Services will be at 1 pm., July 15 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Mickey Quinton, Rev. Harold Patrick and Rev. Percy Brandon officiating. Burial will be in Mapleview Cemetery.
Workman
PADUCAH, Ky. - James M. Workman, 85, passed away July 10, 2005 at his home. He attended Concord United Methodist Church and was a rural mail carrier for 33 years and a farmer.
Survivors include his wife, LaVerne Joyce Workman; a stepdaughter, Brenda Jerome of Newburgh, Ind.; two sisters, Willa McDonald of Carrsville and Verna McDonald of Salem; two grandchildren; Jamie Workman of Calvert City and Felicia Holt of Mayfield; four step grandchildren, Jeff Joyce of Washington, D.C., Mark Joyce of Sacramento, Calif., McKayla Bohanna of Charleston, S.C., and Tim Jerome of Newburg; three great-grandchildren, Brandi, Ashley and Lauren Holt of Mayfield; and three step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, David Workman and Phillip Workman; a stepson, John P. Joyce; two brothers, Herbert Workman and Wayne Workman; and his parents, J.O. and Anna Slayden Workman.
Services were July 13 at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. Mac Dossett and Rev. Herbert Alexander officiating. Burial was in Lola Cemetery.

Rice
BROWNSVILLE, Texas - James W. Rice, 74, passed away July 8, 2005 a Valley Regional Medical Center. A memorial service celebrating his life was held July 12 at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home in Brownsville.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Norma "Penny" Fletcher Rice; two sons, Jerry (Shelley) Rice and Michael (Harriet) Rice; a brother, Donald (Barbara) Rice; and grandchildren, Jeffrey (Angie), Kristi (Alfredo), Jennifer (Jude), Todd (Michele) and Jeffrey (Jamie); and great-grandchildren Sophia, Jessa, Jillian and Nicholas.

Walker
James E. "Jimmy" Walker, 67, of Marion, passed away July 9, 2005 at Livingston Hospital. He was a retired gas station attendant and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Margaret Ann Walker; a son, Charles Walker of Fredonia; a stepson, Jesse Whitfield of Fredonia; two grandsons, Nikkie Thomason of Smithland and Aaron Walker of Fredonia; a granddaughter, Shawna Walker of Narrows, Ky.; a step granddaughter, Ashley Winters of Princeton; five sisters, Charlene Doughty of Calvert City, Ann LeFebvre of Slidell, La., Christine Williamson, Corene "Dolly" James and Linda Sue Brown, all of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Mary Ann Nichols Walker; three brothers; and two sisters.
Services were July 12, 2005 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Faughn officiating. Burial was in Love Cemetery.
Cotton
LAMASCO, Ky. - Dorothy Cotton, 81, passed away July 7, 2005 at Caldwell County Hospital. She was a homemaker and member of Lamasco Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Dixie Cotton of Princeton; a sister, Charlene Cotton of Princeton; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Angelee Witherspoon. Her parents were John Wesley and Mertie Pearl Fowler Burchett.
Services were July 9 at Morgan's Funeral Home with Rev. Dean Ray officiating. Burial was in Gray Cemetery in Lamasco.
Shaw
Linda Kay Shaw, 54, of Marion, passed away July 7, 2005 at her home.
Survivors include a daughter, Nicole Shaw of Marion; two sons, Jordan Shaw and Justin Shaw of Marion; her parents, LaVerne and Wanda Chute of Versailles, Ill.; a brother, Rev. Larry Chute of Joliet, Ill.; two sisters, Sharon Chute of Elgin, Ill., and Debbie Myers of Marion.

PRINCETON, Elvis A. Young, 70, passed away July 7, 2005 in a tractor accident on Farmersville Road. He was retired from the maintenance department in the Caldwell County School District. He was a member of New Haven General Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Gloria Maxene Davis Young; two sons, Gene Young of San Diego, Calif., and Craig Young of Princeton; a daughter, Sandy Scraper of Winslow, Ind.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Young; two sisters, Olga Young and Lucille Whitford; and his parents, Allison Ellsworth and Gertrude Rich Young.
Services were July 11 at Morgan's Funeral Home. Rev. Don Adams, Rev. Greg West and Rev. Buddy Hix officiated. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Hocking
MURRAY, Ky. - Mary J. Hocking, 77, passed away July 1, 2005 at Britthaven in Benton, Ky. She was a member of Elm Grove Baptist Church in Murray.
Services were July 4 at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Littrell officiating. Burial was in Salem Cemetery.
Surviving are four daughters, Sandra Little of Symsonia, Jackie Hodge of Scottsdale, Ariz., Donna Knowlton and Rebecca Hocking, both of Marion; a son, Donald Ecie of Michigan; four sisters, Katherine Simkow, Dolly Morey, Helen West and Fatima Swain, all of Michigan; three brothers, Albert Hadus of Florida, mike Hadus and Joe Hadus, both of Michigan; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bennie Ecie; a second husband, Jack Hocking; a sister; and her parents, Siad Hadus and Neva Bush Hadus.
Hodge
Ruby B. Hodge, 89, of Marion, passed away July 3, 2005 at Crittenden County Health and Rehab. She was a member of Marion United Methodist Church and retired from Moore Business Forms.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn G. Hodge of Clarksville; three sons, Kenneth B. Arflack of Madison, Ala., William Bruce Arflack of Fort Worth, Texas and Carl Arflack of Marion, Ark.; two stepdaughters, Greta Hodge of Owensboro, Judy Shawn of Knoxville, Tenn.; a sister, Helen Nichols of Evansville; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Claud Arflack; her second husband, Eugene Hodge; two brothers; and two sisters. Her parents were Miles and Pearl Croft McDaniel.
Services will be at 11 a.m., July 7, at Gilbert Funeral Home. Rev. Wayne Garvey will officiate. Burial will be in Mapleview Cemetery.
