Joe Kinnis, 57, of Dycusburg, passed away Dec. 12, 2006 at Crittenden Hospital. He was a retired correctional officer for the Kentucky State Penitentiary, a U.S. Navy veteran serving in Vietnam and a member of Frances Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Wanda; two sons, John Allen Kinnis of Smyrna, Tenn., and Tony Freeman Kinnis of Sunnyvale, Calif.; two brothers, Stan Kinnis of Kuttawa and Mike Kinnis of Eddyville; a sister, Betty Hooks of Eddyville; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marcella Ann Grimes Kinnis; and his parents, Freeman Kinnis and Dorothy Loretta Perryman Kinnis.
Services were Dec. 15 at Lakeland Funeral Home in Eddyville with Rev. Lonnie Knight and Rev. Roger Waters officiating. Burial was in Dycusburg Cemetery.
Watson, 100
SALEM, Ky. – Grace Watson, 100, passed away Dec. 13, 2006 at Crittenden Hospital. She was a member of New Union General Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Vivian Lucille Little of Evansville and Billie (Earl) Royal of Cincinnati; two sons, Reggie (Helen) Watson and Raymond (Mary Lou) Watson, both of Evansville; two daughters-in-law, Sylvia Watson and Joyce Watson, both of Salem; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy R. Watson; four sons, Ralph Watson, Mark Watson, Richard Watson, Ronnie Watson; a daughter, Carol Ann Watson; two brothers; and five sisters.
Services were Dec. 16 at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. David Davis and Rev. Tim Fouts officiating. Burial was in Salem Cemetery.
Hoffman
OWENSBORO, Ky. – Mary Elizabeth Butler Hoffman, 88, passed away Dec. 15, 2006 at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was a homemaker and seamstress and a member of Third Baptist church where she taught Sunday school and church training.
Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Lloyd Franklin Hoffman; five sons, Donald R. (Marge) Hoffman of Philpot, Ronald Gene Hoffman of Florida, Lloyd K. “Ken” (Bonnie) Hoffman, Dennis W. (Connie) Hoffman; and Richard D. “Rick” (Gayla) Hoffman, all of Owensboro; a daughter, Linda Katherine Hoffman (Ricky) Brown of Marion; a brother, Dr. LaVerne (Shirley) Butler of Lexington; a sister, Martha Ann Butler (Martin) Wilson of Owensboro; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Francele Butler Mitchell and Cecil Butler Farley; a brother, Willis Garland Butler. Her parents were Willis Cosby Butler and Linda Mae Cosby Butler.
Services were Dec. 17 at Third Baptist Church in Owensboro. Burial was in Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson. James H. Davis Funeral Home of Owensboro was in charge of arrangements.
Jarvis
PADUCAH, Ky. Donna Marie Jarvis, 46, passed away Dec. 13, 2006 at Lourdes Hospital. She is survived by a son, Joseph Jarvis of Paducah; and a daughter, Jordan Jarvis, also of Paducah. Services were Dec. 16, 2006 at Gilbert Funeral Home with burial in Freedom Cemetery.
Pearson
CAVE IN ROCK, Ill. – Mary Esta McConnell Pearson, 99, passed away Dec. 19, 2006. She was a member of Cave In Rock United Methodist Church, a retired teacher with 28 years service in the Cave In Rock School System, a 50-year member of Cave In Rock Eastern Star, member of Illinois Retired Teachers Association, Hardin County Retired Teachers Association, Hardin County Historical Society, Golden Circle Senior Citizens of Hardin County and Ladies Auxiliary of World War II Veterans.
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Ledbetter of Cave In Rock; a son-in-law, Clarence “Joe” Ledbetter of Cave In Rock; a granddaughter, Chris (Lowell “Butch”) Gowins of Rosiclare, Ill.; a great-granddaughter, Nancy (Tim) Turpin of Evansville; and a great-great-grandson, Taylor Turpin of Evansville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Pearson; four brothers, Ellis McConnell, Cyrus McConnell, Everett McConnell and Richard McConnell, Jr.; and a sister, Gladys McConnell. Her parents were Richard and Olive Bertie Alexander McConnell, Sr.
Services will be Dec. 22, 2006 at Rose-Gilbert Funeral Home in Cave In Rock with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery.
Shoemaker
LOLA, Ky. – Floyd G. “Dick” Shoemaker, 86, passed away Dec. 16, 2006 at Livingston Hospital. He was a member of New Union General Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Air Force in World War II.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Dorothy R. Shoemaker; a daughter, Sharon (Denny) Holloran of Demotte, Ind.; a grandson, Jimmy Holloran of Demotte; three nieces, Lorna (Darren) Spender of Broken Arrow, Okla., Julie Shoemaker of Nevada and Jeannie Shoemaker; two nephews, David Kerwin of Springfield, Ill., and Charles Kerwin of Decatur; a sister-in-law, Karen Shoemaker of Orland Park, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Josephine Shoots Shoemaker; and two brothers, John Shoemaker and Charles Shoemaker.
Services were Dec. 19 at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. David Davis officiating. Burial was in Lola Cemetery.
Henderson
Rev. Thomas Edward Henderson, 84, of Harrisonburg, Va., passed away Dec. 9, 2006 at Sunnyside Retirement Community.
He was a former pastor in Marion and Crayne. He served in the 49th Armored Infantry and was wounded in the Battle from the Rhur to the Rhine rivers during World War II. He attended Trinity Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Genette Buchanan; two sons, David E. Henderson of Chesire, Conn., and John F. Henderson of Harrisonburg; a daughter, Doris A. Henderson of Fort Washington, Md.; and two granddaughters.
Services were Dec. 17 at Meredith Chapel at Sunnyside Retirement Community with burial in Mt. Sinai United Methodist Church Cemetery in Harrisonburg.

Dixon
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Anthony “Tony” Glen Dixon, 49, passed away Dec. 15, 2006 at his home. He was a member of Crossroads Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Shiela Dixon; a son, Shane; a daughter, Ashley; his mother, Barbara Dixon; a brother, Jeff; a grandmother, OmaLee; and a granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Dixon; grandfathers Hollis Dixon and Buster Whitt; grandmother Lahoma Whitt; and an uncle.
Graveside services were Dec. 19 at Mapleview Cemetery. Kerr Brothers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Kormann
SALEM, Ky. – Evelyn V. Kormann, 93, passed away Dec. 6, 2006 at Crittenden Hospital.
She is survived by a brother, Jim Shuecraft of Salem; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Kormann. Her parents were H.J. and Laura Hagan Shuecraft.

Wring
HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – John Edward Wring, 86, passed away Dec. 9, 2006 at Jennie Stuart Medical Center. He was born in Salem, served in the U.S. Army in World War II, was an electrician and of Methodist faith.
Services were Dec. 12, 2006 at Lamb Funeral Home in Hopkinsville with burial in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-West.
Surviving are his wife, Linnie Brown Wring; a daughter, Linda Countzler of Louisville; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Adeline Mills; and his parents, Dowell Wring and Blake Wring
Hardin
SALEM, Ky. – Services for Mary Ruth Hardin, 76, were Dec. 14, 2006 at Boyd Funeral Home. Rev. Harold Rittenberry and Bro. Steve Graham officiated. Burial was in Tyner’s Chapel Cemetery.
Hardin passed away Dec. 11 at Lourdes Hospital. She attended Maranatha Baptist Church.
Surviving are a sister, Betty Welsh of Salem; a brother, Nathan Franklin Haney of Burna; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. Her parents were John C. Hardin and Maggie B. Haney.
