PADUCAH, Ky. – A graveside memorial service for Robert “Jackie” Guess, 73, was held Sept. 23, 2006 at Dooms Chapel Cemetery in Kuttawa with Dr. J. Kevin McCallon officiating. Guess passed away Sept. 19 at Lourdes Hospital.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, a retired lab technician for ISP Chemicals in Calvert City and a member of First Baptist Church of Paducah. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge No. 543 in Calvert City and the Rizpah Shrine Center of Madisonville. He was the 2003 director of the Royal Order of Jesters 171.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Skipworth Guess; a daughter, Deanna Ellenberger of Reidland; a son, David Guess of Bowling Green; three stepsons, Skip Holland of Duluth, Ga., Bill Holland of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Bob Holland of Tallahassee; a sister, Dadie Belt of Marion; a grandson; two granddaughters; one great-grandson; four step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Martin Guess; and a brother, Rudolph Allen Guess. His parents were Northern “Jack” Guess and Melba Duvall Guess.

Brown
ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. – Betty Allen Brown, 76, passed away Sept. 14, 2006 at her home. Services were Sept. 17 at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Roger McCurry officiating. Burial was in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
Brown was a native of Crittenden County, a member of Severns Valley Baptist Church and retired from Bussman after 40 years employment.
Surviving are a daughter, Rita Hatfield of Elizabethtown; a brother, Leroy Shewmaker of Elizabethtown; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Gene “Jack” Brown. Her parents were Charlie A. and Hilda Manley Shewmaker.
Wixon
SALEM, Ky. – Ila Mae Wixon, 73, passed away Sept. 28, 2006 at Livingston Hospital. She was of Pentecostal faith.
Surviving are her first husband, James “Eulah” Stewart of Alamo, Tenn., her second husband, William “Bill” Wixon of Salem; two daughters, Juanita Rogers of Biloxi, Miss., and Brenda Dowden of Valparaiso, Tenn.; a sister, Inez Camano of Highland Home, Ala.; a brother, Robert Atchley of Marion; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Jean Stewart; a son, James Stewart; three sisters; and two brothers. Her parents were John and Beulah Atchley.
Services were Oct. 3 at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Sprouse officiating. Burial was in Salem Cemetery.
Markham
Robert Markham, 70, of Marion, passed away Oct. 1, 2006 at Crittenden Health Systems. He was a member of Sullivan Baptist Church.
Services were Oct. 4 at Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis with Rev. Jerry Thurman and Rev. Hank Ricketson officiating. Burial was in Sullivan Community Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Barbara Markham; two daughters, Pamela Dawn Hopkins and Robbie Ellen Reynolds, both of Marion; a son, Robert Duane Markham of Marion; a sister, Rose Collins of Sullivan; and six grandchildren.
Rushing
SALEM, Ky. – Fred Rushing, 75, passed away Oct. 2, 2006 at Crittenden Hospital. He was a member of Salem First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife, Martha Ann Rushing; three daughters, Angela Driskill and Karen Ann Lanham, both of Salem, and Tina Renee Schell of Portland, Ore.; a sister, Doylene Thompson of Decatur, Ala.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Fred Timothy Rushing; and his parents, Fred V. Rushing and Mamie Bullard Rushing.
Services will be at 2 p.m., Oct. 5 at Boyd Funeral Home with Danny Shuecraft officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery.
Wyttenbach
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Matthew Scott Wyttenbach, 48, passed away June 16, 2006 at his home. - He was a 1976 graduate of Crittenden County High School and a former resident of Dycusburg.
He is survived by his mother, Sharon S. Yates, of Indianapolis, Ind.; a son, Matthew R. Wyttenbach of Clearfield, Utah; and a grandson, Abbot R. Wyttenbach, also of Clearfield. -
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Mark and Michael Wyttenbach; and his father, Robert L. Wyttenbach.
Services - and burial were at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Evansville.
Huddleston
MADISONVILLE, Ky. – Irene Elizabeth Huddleston, 86, passed away Sept. 21, 2006 at Tradewater Pointe Nursing Home in Dawson Springs.
She was born in Tolu and was a member of Gospel Assembly Church in Dawson Springs where she was head usherette.
Services were Sept. 24 at Gospel Assembly Church in Dawson Springs with Rev. Harley Langley and Rev. Gene Driver officiating. Burial was in Rosedale Cemetery.
Surviving are three sons, Thomas Huddleston of Madisonville, Encil Huddleston of Dawson Springs and Ronald Huddleston of St. Charles; a sister, Ada Askew of St. Louis; a brother, Rev. Bill Tinsley of Oklahoma; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Haze Huddleston; two sisters, Hazel Fowler and Louise Wheatcroft; and two brothers, Tom Tinsley and Joe Boswell. Her parents were Joseph and Bessie Boswell.
Asher
BENTON, Ky. – Vernie Asher, 96, passed away Sept. 23, 2006 at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah. She was a lifelong homemaker.
Surviving are her husband of 66 years, Leo Asher; two daughters, Muriel (Nelson) Hughes of Marion and Lana Long, also of Marion; three sons, Ronnie (Regina) Asher and Donnie Asher, both of Marion, and Brooks Travis of Crete, Ill.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters; and a grandson. Her parents were Thomas Allen and Elva Brown Travis.
Services were Sept. 26, 2006 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Easley officiating. Burial was in Sugar Grove Cemetery.
Biggs
Eddie Biggs, 84, of Marion, passed away Sept. 22, 2006 at Jewish Hospital of Louisville. He was a member of the American Legion.
Surviving are a son, Gary Biggs of Louisville; a daughter, Nancy Brewer of Atlanta; two brothers, Don Biggs of Davenport, Iowa and J.R. Biggs of Monticello, Ind.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Biggs.
Services were Sept. 25, 2006 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Garvey officiating.
Clayton
HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – Private graveside services for Debra Dean Clayton, 54, formerly of Princeton, were Sept. 20, 2006. Clayton passed away Sept. 17 at her home. Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton was in charge of arrangements.
She was a jewelry designer and 1970 graduate of Caldwell County High School. She attended Western Kentucky University, where she was a member of Alpha Delt Pi Sorority, and Dallas Fashion Merchandising College in Dallas.
She is survived by her parents, Fred and Dean Clayton of Hopkinsville; a brother, Craig Clayton of Franklin, Tenn. a sister, Carol Clayton Birdsong of Brentwood, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.

Peninah “Nina” G. Peek, 87, of Marion, passed away Sept. 19, 2006 at Crittenden Hospital. She was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Ella Reginia Peek, Janice Tinsley and Sandy Fitzgerald, all of Marion; two sons, Tracy Peek and Van Evans Peek, both of Marion; two brothers, Bill Farmer nd James Farmer, both of Marion; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son; two sisters; and her husband, Richard M. Peek.
Services were Sept. 22 at Boyd Funeral Home with burial in Dycusburg Cemetery.
