EVANSVILLE, Ky. – Eugene E. Cannon, Sr., 74, passed away Sept. 13, 2006 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. -
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a lifetime member of VFW Post #1114 and a Korean War veteran. He was a welder and construction worker and taught welding. -
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Hazel Mae (Schiff) Cannon; his children, Eugene E. Cannon, Jr. of Brazil, Ind., Deborah DeLaney of Evansville, Mark Cannon of Louisville, - Cheryl Voegel, David Cannon and Steven Cannon, all of Evansville, Linda Fornear of Plano, Texas and John Cannon of Evansville; - 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Pauline Tucker of Evansville and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Claude; his parents, Claude and Geneva Cannon; a sister, Dorothy Wirthwein; a grandson, Billy and a nephew, Lewis.
Services were Sept. 18 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rev. David Nunning officiating. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Pierre Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Sanders
John Virgil Sanders, Sr., 79, of Marion passed away Sept. 10, 2006 at his home.
He was retired from the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include two sons, John Sanders, Jr., of Madisonville and William Sanders of Crayne; two daughters, Beth Todd of Marion and Joan Hargis of Slidell, La.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Mae Jennings Sanders.
Graveside services were Sept. 15 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville.
Myers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Wright
Elizabeth Imogene Wright, 90, of Marion, passed away Sept. 18, 2006 at Livingston Hospital. She was a member of Glendale General Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Doris Beard of Marion; three granddaughters, Jeanne (Peter) Bowen of Naples, Fla., Joanie (Don) Thomas of Benton; Donette (David) Perryman of Marion; a grandson, Tommy (Lisa) Beard of Marion; two great-granddaughters, Mary Peryman of Marion and Addie Thomas of Benton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Wright.
Services will be at 11 a.m., Sept. 21, 2006 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Rev. Tony Alexander will officiate with burial in Mapleview Cemetery.
Milam
BURNA, Ky. – Services for Frances Anne Milan, 75, were Sept. 16, 2006 at Beechland Baptist Church in Lewisburg, Ill. Burial was in the church cemetery. She passed away Sept. 12 at Livingston Hospital.
Milam, formerly of Zion, Ill., was a member of Central Christian Church in Waukegan, Ill.
Surviving are two daughters, Jamie (Bill) Barnes of Burna and Jerrie Anne (Mike) Capp of Bristol, Wisc.; two sons, James (Diane) Milam of Wadsworth, Ill., and John (Christy) Milam of Glasgow; two sisters, Mary Baumgardener and Berta Hirt, both of Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren, Courtney Barnes Foster of St. Louis, Abbie Barnes of Salem, Billy Barnes of Titusville, Fla., Rebecca Roy of Georgia, Jonathan Milam of South Carolina, Dennis Milam of Milwaukee, Wisc., and Ashley Milam of Wadsworth, Wisc.; one great-grandson, Rain Elder of Salem.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jervis Milam; a brother, Albert Tome; three sisters; three aunts; and three uncles. Her parents were Sylvester Duffy and Mary Lou Renwick Duffy.
Boyd Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.
Croft
Zola F. Croft, 77, of Marion, passed away Sept. 18, 2006 at her home. She was a member of Union Baptist Church and attended Salem Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Richard D. Croft of Marion; three daughters, Pamela (Randy) Thornton of Murray, Cheryl (Larry) Weldon of Franklin and Teresa (Larry D.) Fritts of Eddyville; a sister, Freda Morrill of Marion; a brother, Melvin Ramage of Marion; five grandchildren, Richard (Christine) Thornton of Murray, Patrick Thornton of Marietta, Ga., Stephanie Fritts and Kyle Fritts, both of Eddyville, Sheena Weldon of Franklin; and one great-grandchild, Laynee Thornton of Murray.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Floyd Champion Ramage.
Services will be at 2 p.m., Sept. 21 at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. Herbert Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.

Peek
Peninah “Nina” G. Peek, 87, of Marion, passed away Sept. 19, 2006 at Crittenden Hospital. She was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Ella Reginia Peek, Janice Tinsley and Sandy Fitzgerald, all of Marion; two sons, Tracy Peek and Van Evans Peek, both of Marion; two brothers, Bill Farmer nd James Farmer, both of Marion; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son; two sisters; and her husband, Richard M. Peek.
Services will be at 2 p.m., Sept. 22 at Boyd Funeral Home with burial in Dycusburg Cemetery.
Easley
STURGIS, Ky. – Mae Belle Easley, 84, passed away Sept. 19, 2006 at Morganfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Sturgis.
Services will be at 1 p.m., Sept. 21 at Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis with Rev. Don Phelps officiating. Burial will be in Lola Cemetery.
She is survived by a daughter, Kathy Stewart of Sturgis; a sister, Reva Beard of Salem; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hayes Easley; a son, Gary Westmoland; a daughter, Katherine Westmoland; a sister, Helen Moorman; and two brothers, Lenva and Paul Hearell.

Rushing
HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. – Grace Rushing, 92, formerly of Crittenden County, passed away Sept. 18, 2006 at Williamson County Medical Center in Franklin, Tenn. Rushing was a member of Central Baptist Church in Hendersonville and a former member of Mexico Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Ann Shewcraft of Spring Hill, Tenn., and Lanna Collins of Garden City, Mich.; a son, Johnny Rushing of Huntsville, Ala.; two sisters, Girlyne Hazel of Clearwater, Fla., and Mary Shinnall of Valparaiso, Ind.; a brother, Kenneth Wheeler of Kuttawa; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rozzle Rushing; and a son, Jerry Rushing.
Services will be at 1 p.m., Sept. 21, at Gilbert Funeral Home. Rev. Tim Burdon will officiate. Burial will be in Mexico Cemetery.
Jeffrey
HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. – Marba Louise Jeffrey, 88, formerly of Salem, passed away Sept. 10, 2006 at Hendersonville Nursing Home. Graveside services were Sept. 12 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Ledbetter. Bro. Eddie Osborn and Bro. Malcolm Patton officiated.
Jeffrey was a member of Ohio Valley Baptist Church in Ledbetter.
Surviving area son, Larry “Jeff” Jeffrey of Goodlettsville, Tenn.; a brother, G.W. Birdsong of Purcell, Okla.; four half brothers, A.V. Birdsong of Hopkinsville, Ronnie Birdsong of Mayfield, Arvel Birdsong of Murray and Everett Birdsong of Cadiz; three half sisters, Frances Clark, Helen Elder and Nellie Birdsong, all of Paducah; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Jeffrey; a sister; and four brothers.
Hodge
SALEM, Ky. – Neil Hodge, 70, passed away Sept. 8, 2006. He was a member of Eddyville Masonic Lodge and was retired from B.F. Goodrich.
Surviving are his wife, Judy Hodge of Salem; a daughter, JoEllen Sobotka of Newburgh, Ind.; two sons, Jesse B. Hodge of Salem and Jamie Hodge of Lola; a stepson, Dean Buchanan of Salem; a brother, Robert Donald Hodge of Florida; a sister, Gennell Lynn of Owensboro; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse R. and Iva Irene Hodge.
A memorial service was held Sept. 12 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Rev. A.C. Hodge officiated.
