Kentucky Marriage Records by County

Montalta
Virginia Lois Montalta, 72,, of Marion and formerly of Kankakee, Ill., passed away Sept. 4, 2006 at her home. She was a member of Aroma Park United Methodist Church in Aroma Park, Ill.
Surviving are her husband, Raymond August Montalta; two sons, Tom Montalta of St. Anne, Ill., and Raymond Montalta, Jr., of Marion; two daughters, Lois LaPorte of Bonfield, Ill., and Cathie King of Marion; two sisters, Norma Montalta of Aroma Park and Betty Appelberg of Navarre, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Myrtle Styck.
Visitation was held at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion Wednesday night. Services will be at noon Sept. 9 at Schreffler Funeral Home in Kankakee, Ill., with burial in Aroma Park Cemetery.

Andrews
Services for Brinnie Andrews, 92, of Marion, will be held at 1 p.m., Sept. 8, 2006 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Rev. Frank McCallum will officiate. Burial will be in Mapleview Cemetery.
Andrews passed away Sept. 3 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville. She was a member of Sugar Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Hicks of Gaithersburg, Md., and Mary Emge of Evansville; a sister, Vernie Asher of Benton; a grandson, Nathaniel Emge of Lexington; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Andrews; and seven brothers and sisters. Her parents were Thomas Allen and Elvah Brown Travis.

Todd
Services for Cynthia Jo Todd, 39, of Marion, were Sept. 3, 2006 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Rev. Tony Alexander and Rev. Bobby Allen officiated. Burial was in White Chapel Cemetery.
Todd passed away Aug. 31 at her home. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Providence.
Surviving are her husband, Darrell Todd of Marion; two daughters, Serena Kirk and Chasity Todd, both of Marion; two sons, Darrell Todd, Jr., and Richard Dillon Todd, both of Marion; her parents, Daniel and Herta Williams of Providence; two sisters, Lindy Wilson and Sondra Hardymon, both of Providence; and three grandchildren.

Travis
Haskall Travis, 81, of Marion, passed away Aug. 27, 2006 at his home. He was a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Mexico Baptist Church, a member of Fredonia Lions Club, board of directors of the ASC office in Marion and a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Catherine C. Jones Travis; a son, Dr. Rodney H. Travis of Hopkinsville; a sister, Mildred Williamson of Ashland, Ala.; two granddaughters, Shawn Travis of Elizabethtown and Tiffany Travis Sexton of Brentwood, Tenn.; and a great-granddaughter, Addie Sexton of Brentwood, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by three brothers. His parents were Elmer and Vera Ralston Travis.
Services were Aug. 29 at Mexico Baptist Church. Rev. Tim Burdon and Dr. Rodney Travis officiated. Burial was in Mexico Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mexico Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 75, Marion, KY 42064.
Gilbert Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Bates
FREDONIA, Ky. – Services for Ray Bates, 85, were Aug. 24, 2006 at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton. Bates passed away Aug. 22 at Lourdes Hospital. Burial was in Menser Cemetery in Dawson Springs.
He was a retired grocery store owner.
Surviving are his wife, Willie Katherine Farmer Bates; three sons, William Wayne Bates of Dawson Springs, Robert Earl Bates of Marion, Boyd Bates of Fredonia; three daughters, Leda Mae Martin of Livingston County, Brenda Sigler of Gilbertsville and Joyce Bate of Fredonia; three step sons, James David Flick of Lake City, Fla., Larry Joe Flick of Fredonia and Benny Ray Flick of Providence; a step daughter, Dora Coones of Dawson Springs; two sisters; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 10 step grandchildren; and several step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Farmer Bates; two sons, Johnny Ray Bates and Mark Allen Bates; three brothers; and three sisters.

Shewmaker
Donna Shewmaker, 60, of Marion, passed away Aug. 20, 2006 at Crittenden Hospital.
Survivors include her daughter, Meslissa Shewmaker of Marion; a son, Lee Shewmaker of Marion; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Shewmaker; a brother; and her parents, Roy Lee Cobb and Francis Henry Cobb.
Graveside services were Aug. 26 at Love Cemetery.

Sitar
CADIZ, Ky. – Mary C. Sitar, 86, passed away Aug. 21, 2006 at Shady Lawn Nursing Center in Cadiz. Goodwin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Sitar was a homemaker and of Baptist faith.
Surviving are a grandchild, Faith (Donald) Fitch of Cadiz, Phillip Sitar of Marion and Stephen (Beverly) Sitar of Marion; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Sitar, Jr.; a son, Michael Phillip Sitar; three brothers, Ted Schultz, Alfred Schultz and Herbert Schultz; two sisters, Bernice Olson and Gladys Sitar; and her parents, Alfred and Augusta Schultz.

Williams
Fannie Pearl Watson Williams, 72, of Marion, passed away Aug. 28, 2006 at Crittenden Hospital.
Services were Aug. 30 at Gilbert Funeral Home with burial in Dunn Springs Cemetery. Rev. Heath Martin and Rev. Kenny Odom officiated.
Survivors include four daughters, Linda Pearl Odom of Marion, Frances Alberta Adams of Dawson Springs, Elsie Corene Vigneau of Lafayette, Tenn., and Alice Faye Bomia of Marion; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Elvis Watson; and two sons, Charles Calvin Watson and James Elvis Watson. Her parents were Zion and Henry Alice Darnell.

Eades
BROWDER, Ky. – Charles W. Eades, 80, passed away Aug. 17, 2006 at Muhlenburg Community Hospital in Greenville. He worked in the Hughes Kirk School System as a teacher, principal, basketball coach and administrator until he retired in 1988. He was the only coach to take Hughes Kirk to the Sweet 16 of the Kentucky High School Basketball Tournament, and he had attended the state tournament for 51 years straight. He owned a farm in Crittenden County.
Survivors include several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eura and Addie “Hughes” Eades, formerly of Crittenden County, and a sister.
Funeral services were Aug. 20 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial was in Rose Hil Cemetery in Central City

Marvel
Services for Lorene W. Marvel, 95, of Marion, were Aug. 18, 2006 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Rev. Jerry Thurman officiated. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.
She passed away Aug. 16 at Crittenden Hospital.
Surviving are a sister, Opal Harmon of Paducah; two nieces, Victoria Perkins of Paducah and Robbin Stephens of Hudson, Fla.; a great-niece; and three great-nephews.

Massey
BURNA, Ky. – Leon Phillip Massey, 90, passed away Aug. 18, 2006 at Salem Springlake Health and Rehab. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having worked in the military post office in France. He was a member of the American Legion Burna Post #217, the Veteran of Foreign Wars and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was a rural mail carrier for 40 years and a retired farmer. He was a charter member of Central Baptist Church where he served as treasurer, secretary and trustee.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Willie Chittenden Massey; a sister, Carlene Kemper of Salem; an aunt, Alberta Beggs of Reidland; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Massey; and his parents, Vernon and Burna Phillips Massey.
Services were Aug. 21 at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. David Rogers, Rev. James Oats and Rev. Russell Joiner officiating. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery.
