Leonard D. Gibson, 65, of Crittenden County, passed away Aug. 11, 2006 at Western Baptist Hospital. He operated a mechanic shop in Clay for 22 years
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Bessie Gibson; four daughters, Karen Godbehere of Sullivan, Regina McKeown of Dixon, and Patricia Kurtz and Katie Kirk, both of Crittenden County; a son, Jerry Gibson of Clay; three sisters, Mary Newcom and Carolyn Ashby, both of Clay, and Sue James of Sturgis; a brother, Darrell Gibson of Crittenden County; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeff and Katie Gibson; five brothers, Hubert Gibson, Kurt Gibson, Donnie Gibson, Calvin Gibson and J.V. Gibson; and a sister, Pearl Summers.
Services were Aug. 14 at Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis. Rev. Ernest Phillips officiated. Burial was in White Oak Cemetery in Clay.
Owens
WAVERLY, Ky. – Elmer Owens, 64, passed away Aug. 11, 2006 at his home.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Owens; a daughter, Pam Owens of Marion; a son, Billy Owens of Dixon; a sister, Lois Price of Kentucky; a brother, Rondal Owens of Kentucky; and two grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Cordia Owens.
Services were Aug. 15 at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield with Rev. Jerry Manning officiating. Burial was in Boxville Cemetery.

Waters
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Major Frank Langford Waters, 88, passed away Aug. 8, 2006. He was born and raised in Marion and was a graduate of Crittenden County High School.
Waters served in the Kentucky National Guard until 1939 when he enlisted with the Army Air Corp. He flew combat missions in Europe during World War II as a radar operator, navigator and bombardier. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal three times. He retired in 1960.
After his retirement from the Air Force, he became a Plantation, Fla., businessman and later worked for the Florida Turnpike Authority. He was a volunteer with Boy Scouts of America and the Association of Retarded Citizens for many years. He was a lifelong member of the VFW, Military Officers Association of America and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Corabelle “Connie” Waters; a son, Frank L. Waters, Jr.; two daughters, Fay Boyle and Mary Ridgway; five grandchildren; a niece, Margaret “Peggy” Howton of Marion, and nephew, James L. Rhem of Madison, Wisc.
Preceding him in death were five brothers and a sister, including Margaret Rhem of Marion and Lt. Colonel J.I. Waters.
Services were Aug. 12 at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Pompano Beach, Fla. He will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery.
Sills
Roy Kenneth “Kenny” Sills, 65, of Marion, passed away Aug. 6, 2006 at Crittenden Health Systems. He was a member and deacon of Marion Baptist Church and a retired industrial engineer.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra Watson Sills; two daughters, Letitia Goolsby of Marion and Felicia Maxfield of Miami, Fla.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
His parents were Roy and Edna Kirk Sills.
Services were Aug. 9 at Myers Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Thurman officiating. Burial was in Salem Cemetery.
Reynolds
Edward L. Reynolds, 80, of Marion, passed away Aug. 2, 2006 at Livingston Hospital.
A memorial service was held Aug. 6, at 330 Paddy’s Bluff Rd., in Marion. Boyd Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Shirley Reynolds; three sons, Lee R. Reynolds and Jake Reynolds, both of Marion, and Edward Reynolds of Aurora, Colo.; two daughters, Connie McReynolds and Jerri Doscher, both of Marion; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Lee Reynolds; two sisters; four brothers; and his parents, Richard and Adeline Reynolds.
Curnel
DECATUR, Ala. – Graveside services for Margaret Curnel, 81, formerly of Livingston County, were held Aug. 4, 2006 at Lola Cemetery. She passed away Aug. 2 at Decatur Health and Rehab Center. She was of Baptist faith.
Surviving are four sons, Alton Curnel of Arab, Ala., Roger Curnel of Plano, Texas, Melvin Curnel of Decatur, Ala., and Stan Curnel of Hartselle, Ala.; a daughter, Patti Jo Curnel of Plano, Texas; two brothers, Charles Black of Marion and Mike Black of Hartselle, Ala.; a sister, Grace Scheffer of Richmond; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother; and her parents, Howard and Molly Smee Black.
Boyd Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Terry
ST. CHARLES, Ill. – Homer H. Terry, 90, passed away July 22, 2006 at Pine View Care Center in St. Charles. He was active with Masonic Lodge 404, Batavia United Methodist Church and Batavia Food Pantry.
He was born in Marion and left Kentucky in 1930s to join family in Illinois. During the war, he worked at Capitol Furniture and Furnas Electric Co. He later farmed west of Batavia until retiring in 1970. He then worked in the maintenance division at Easton Plastic Co.
Surviving are is wife, Genevieve Terry; a sister, Clara Kleiderer of Tucson, Ariz.; a son, Dennis Terry of Coraopolis, Pa.; two daughters, Susan Klink of Oak Park, Ill., and Kathy Abernathy of Batavia; two grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents were Rev. Uri and Alice Terry.
A memorial service was held July 27 at Batavia United Methodist Church.

Kirk
Verscia Kirk, 101, of Marion, passed away Aug. 6, 2006 at Crittenden County Health and Rehab. She was the oldest member of Sulpher Springs Baptist church.
Surviving are two granddaughters, Brenda (Ed) Hazzard of Frisco, Texas and Linda (Kenneth) Waters of Eddyville; a daughter-in-law, Evelyn Kirk of Marion; four great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and two nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kellie Kirk; a son, Allen “A.C.” Kirk; and a grandson, Stephen Kirk.
Graveside services were Aug. 8 at Fredonia Cemetery with Rev. John Baker officiating.
Gilbert Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Kemper
FREEPORT, Ill. – Services for Ona Monroe Kemper, 98, formerly of Livingston County, were held Aug. 9, 2006 at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. Norman Mathis officiating. Burial was in Carrsville Cemetery.
She passed away Aug. 5 at Freeport Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
Surviving are a daughter, Betty Combs of Freeport; and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Morris Kemper; a daughter, Elizabeth Lamar; her husband, Robert Kemper; and two brothers. Her parents were Lee Monroe and Sally Noel Monroe.
Ramage
BURNA, Ky. – Leota Ramage passed away Aug. 6, 2006 at St. Johns Medical Center in Springfield, Mo. She was employed by Hancock Fabrics for 30 years.
Services were Aug. 9 at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. Willie Guess officiating. Burial was in Salem Cemetery.
Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Wilford Ramage; two sons, Warren D. Ramage of Burna and Steve (Glenda) Ramage of Draffenville; two daughters, Shirley Ann (Eldred) Hurley of Paducah and Juwanda (Perry) Beyer of West Paducah; a sister, Nadine Abell of Brookport, Ill.; five grandchildren, Russ Hurley, Pamela Ramage, Jennifer Bryan Fondaw, Leah Quertermous and Steve Alan Ramage; three great-grandchildren, Tate Quertermous, Lane Fondaw, Caroline A. Hurley; five step grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gobel W. Ramage; a brother, Hick Bridwell; a sister, Juanita Binkley; a stepson; and a granddaughter, Crystal Ann Ramage. Her parents were Alvey and Emma Bridwell.
