Services for Geneva Belt, 94, of Marion, were July 1, 2006 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Belt passed away June 29 at Livingston Hospital. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Surviving are a nephew, Bill Belt of Texas; two nieces and eight great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Press and Sarah Elizabeth James Belt.
Gordy -
MACON, Ga. – Mary Jackson Gordy, 47, passed away June 11, 2006 near Perry as a result of a motorcycle accident.
Graveside serices were June 30 at McMurray Chapel Cemetery with Bro. Cary Cowell officiating.
Surviving are her mother, Nancy Pearl Hall of Smithland; a son, Greg Padgett of Macon; a daughter, NaTasha Padgett of Macon; a brother, James “Peter Bill” Jackson of Marion; two half brothers, Floyd Jackson of Burna and Wallace A. Biggs of Smithland; three half sisters, Isabel Garrett of Hampton, Eulene “Babe” Belt of Salem and Lucille Waylan of Golconda, Ill.; and one grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Monroe Jackson; her stepfather, J.L. Hall; two brothers; and one sister.
Childress -
Cornelia Koon Childress, 103, of Marion, passed away June 29, 2006 at Crittenden County Health and Rehab.
She was a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Ella Louise Fritts of Marion; a granddaughter, Donna Caye (Jim) Morris of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Milton Childress. Her parents wre Ora Koon and Ida Hornback Koon.
Services were July 1 at Boyd Funeral Home. Rev. Dee Ann Thompson officiated. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.
Myers -
FREDONIA, Ky. – Services for Kenneth Myers, 74, were July 2, 2006 at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton. Rev. Ernie Clifford officated, with burial in Fredonia Cemetery.
Myers passed away June 29 at Lourdes Hospital. He was a retired plant operator at Fredonia Valley Quarry and member of Fredonia Holiness Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Imogene Lynch Myers; a daughter, Marsha Burkeen of Marion; a sister, Vernetta Brown of Fredonia; a granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Randall Myers, Cotton Myers, Gilbert Myers and Edwin Greer; and three sisters, Martha Belt, Jane Barnett and Mary Lou Gerrard.
His parents were Jesse and Pearl Allen Myers.
Brantley
Services for Wilbur Brantley, 87, of Marion will be at 11 a.m., July 7, 2006 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Brantley passed away July 5.
He served in the U.S. Army with the 243rd Signal Operation Company in the Aleutian Islands, Italy and Africa. He was employed by the railroad and served on the Board of Education in Crete, Ill. He was a member of Marion United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Pamela Davenport, Regina (Bob) Cook, both of Marion; a son, Brent (Jeanette) Brantley of Marion; a sister, Irene Howerton of Nashville; a brother, Clarence Brantley of Roseville, Mich.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Corene; three sisters; and three brothers. His parents were Albert and Eunice Brantley.
Peek
Janie Peek, 72, of Marion, formerly of Fredonia, passed away June 21, 2006 at her home. She was a homemaker and member of Fredonia Holiness Church.
Surviving are a son, Robert Junior Peek of Marion; a brother, David Wayne Sisco of Troutdale, Ore.; two sisters, Rita Rider of New Haven, Ill., and Suzanne Pretzsch of Carmi, Ill; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Peek; her parents, Ernest Ray Sisco and Cordie Fralick Sisco; stepmother, Beatrice Bosaw; and stepfather Vaughn Bosaw; two brothers, Buddy Sisco and Ben Sisco; and a sister, Violet Sisco.
Services were June 24 at Morgan's Funeral Home with Rev. Curtis Fritz officiating. Burial was in Fredonia Cemetery.
Monroe
COUNTRY CLUB HILLS, Ill. - Services for Anna Lee Monroe, 79, were June 24, 2006 at Boyd Funeral Home with Bro. Walzie Hosick officiating. Burial was in Lola Cemetery.
Monroe passed away June 20 at South Suburban Hospital in Hazelcrest, Ill.
Surviving are her husband, William Marvin Monroe of Country Club Hills; two sons, Raymond D. Monroe of Blue Island, Ill., and William M. Monroe of Illinois; a daughter, Kathy Edwards of Lyons, Ill.; a sister, Lucille Watson of Lola; a brother, Robert G. Williams of Lola; two half-brothers, Jesse H. Williams of Lola and Harold Williams of Carrsville; three half-sisters, Linda Rogers of Lola, Marie Dinwiddie of Clermont, Fla., and Joyce Dinwiddie of Big Sandy, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James H. and Lora Myrick Williams; and a son, Norris Wayne Monroe.
Willbanks
PADUCAH, Ky. - Donnie C. Willbanks, Sr., 61, passed away June 22, 2006 at his home.
Services were June 26 at Boyd Funeral Home with Bro. Kenneth Brown officiating. Burial was in Salem Cemetery.
Surviving are a son, Donnie Carl (Sharon) Willbanks of Salem; a daughter, Melinda Gale Willbanks (Ricky) Driskill of Fancy Farm; four sisters, Eileen Tabor and Muriel Dickerson, both of Salem, Carmlee Poindexter of Rosiclare, Ill., and Wanda Miller of Marion, Ill.; a brother, William "Billy" Willbanks of Salem; and two grandchildren, Brittany Gale Driskill and Evan Lynn Driskill, both of Fancy Farm.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elva Dunn and Thella Butler; a brother, Charles Willbanks; and his parents, Clarence and Nell Damron Willbanks.
Corley
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Services for George Rudolph Corley, 78, formerly of Marion, were held June 28, 2006 at Sugar Grove Cemetery. Rev. Jerry Thurman officiated.
Corley passed away June 22 in Scottsdale. He retired from the U.S. Navy and serving the Philippines and Japan. He was retired from federal service in 1983 after serving 37 years as a special agent for the U.S. Customs and a special agent with the Drug Enforcement Agency and resident agent in charge, DEA. He served these capacities in Los Angeles, Calif., Lukeville, Ariz., on the Mexican border, Tucson, Ariz., Yuma, Ariz., and San Luis, Ariz.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Gloria Corley; three sons, Wesley Corley of Scottsdale, Randy Corley of Chandler, Ariz., and Larry Corley of El Centro, Calif.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a niece, Martha Nell James of Florida; and a great-niece, Lisa York of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Finney Lawrence and Sarah Ann Corley; a sister, Carol Hodge and a grandson, David Corley.
Gilbert Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Brandon
Dr. Richard Miles Brandon, M.D., 84, of Marion, passed away June 20, 2006 at Livingston Hospital and Healthcare Services.
Dr. Brandon was a native of Christian County and served in the U.S. Armed Forces from 1940-1945. He graduated from Murray State University in 1948. Before entering the University of Louisville Medical School, he taught math and chemistry for two years at Marion High School. Upon receiving his M.D. degree in 1954, he interned at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Covington then worked briefly at Maysville and with the Trover Clinic in Madisonville. He opened an office in Marion in 1956 and remained in practice for 31 years, retiring March 2, 1987.
He was a member of Bigham Lodge F&AM No. 256, the Princeton Commandery No. 35, KT; the West Kentucky Consistory, 32nd Degree and Rizpah Shrine Temple. He also served on the board of directors of the Masonic Widows and Orphans Home.
He was a member of Marion United Methodist Church and has served on the church's administrative board. He also served on the board of directors at Farmers Bank and Trust Company of Marion.
Surviving are his wife, Sarah H. Brandon; two sons, Richard "Sam" (Kathy) Brandon of Georgetown and Miles (Ginger) Brandon of Calvert City; a daughter, Sarah K. (Darrell) Ransdell of Gulfport, Miss.; a brother, Robert Roach of Hopkinsville; a sister, Irene Lawson of Trenton; three grandsons, Brandon Blake and Calvin Parker, both of Gulfport, and R.M. Brandon II of Georgetown; a granddaughter, Katherine Grace Brandon of Georgetown; and several nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sara Horn and Carter Hilman Brandon.
Services will be held at 10 a.m., June 22 at Myers Funeral Home with burial in Mapleview Cemetery.
