LA PORT, Ind. - A memorial service for Delmer Lee Newcom, 74, will be held at 11 a.m., May 20 at Mapleview Cemetery.
Newcom passed away Nov. 2, 2005. He was a Crittenden County High School graduate and a veteran of the Korean War. He was an electrician and worked with foster children.
He is survived by his wife, Joan McDowell of La Porte; a brother, Glenn Newcom of Louisville; and three sisters, Mary K. Chandler of Sturgis, Elwanda McDowell of Marion and Janey Syers of St. Louis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Wanda Newcom; and two brothers, Leonard Newcom of New Hampshire and Willard Newcom of Hobart, Ind.
McEuen
Edna Frances McEuen, 78, passed away May 7, 2006 at Crittenden Hospital.
Surviving are three daughters, Dorothy Stokes of Dycusburg, Dorothy Jean McEuen and Carrie Yandell, both of Marion; three brothers, Pete Ferrell of Paducah, Lyle Ferrell of Anna, Ill., and Ted Ferrell of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Grace Speter of Coldwater, Mich., and Opal Hawkins of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie McEuen; three brothers; a sister; and her parents, Logan and Mary Elizabeth Myers Ferrell.
Graveside services were May 8 at Crooked Creek Cemetery with Rev. Rob Ison officiating.
Orr
Helen Ruth Orr, 80, of Marion, passed away May 5, 2006 at Crittenden Hospital. She was a member of Marion Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, J.D. Orr of Marion; a daughter, Cheryl Singleton of Marion; a sister, Rachel Arflack of Marion; and two grandchildren, Jason Singleton and Jarrod Singleton, both of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Creed and Lottie Davis.
Services were May 8 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Rev. Mike Grimes officiated. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.
Morrow
SALEM, Ky. - Graveside services for Marion L. Morrow, Jr., 81, were held April 21, 2006 at Union Baptist Church. Dr. Michael Morrow officiated.
Morrow passed away April 19 at Livingston Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Rohm Morrow of Salem; a son, Dr. Michael Morrow of Marion; two brothers, Jack Morrow of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Everett Morrow of Mount Clemens, Mich.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion L. Morrow, Sr., and Arline Shearer Morrow; three brothers; and three sisters.

Hosick
SMITHLAND, Ky. - Funeral services for Beatrice Hosick, 84, were May 10, 2006 at Boyd Funeral Home with Del Brantley officiating. Burial was in Salem Cemetery. Hosick passed away May 8 at Livingston Hospital. She was a member of Salem Church of Christ and Carrsville Chapter of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are two sons, Casper D. Hosick and Russell Hosick, both of Smithland; and three grandchildren, Crystal K. Hosick Douglas of Louisville, Chris Hosick of Ledbetter and Jason Hosick of Smithland.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Casper Hosick; a brother; and her parents, James William and Rosa Lee Chittenden.
Sunderland
William "Bill" Sunderland, 66, of Marion, passed away May 6, 2006 at Crittenden Hospital. He was a member and deacon of Marion General Baptist Church, was a retired truck driver for Tison and Hall Concrete and a truck driver for the Southern Illinois Teamsters for many years.
Services were May 9 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Nicky Davis and Rev. Tom Easley officiating. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Sunderland of Marion; two sons, David Glenn (Dena) Sunderland and Roger Darrell (Shawna) Sunderland, both of Marion; a sister, Nora Johnson of Salem; three brothers, Paul Sunderland of Salem and Charlie "Wahoo" Sunderland and Deon Sunderland, both of Marion; and three grandchildren, Jonathon Sunderland, Roger Sunderland and Magan Sunderland, all of Marion.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Denise Tinsley; a grandson, Caleb Tinsley; and his parents, Leslie and Dollie Sunderland.
Johnson
Thomas Andrew "Tom" Johnson, 85, of Marion, passed away April 30, 2006 at Salem Springlake Health and Rehab.
He was a member of Marion United Methodist Church, served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and was a retired school teacher and administrator. Johnson was a charter member of the Crittenden County Football Hall of Fame Selection Committee as well as a member of the Hall of Fame. He played football at Marion High School and Murray State University, and coached at Marion and other area high schools.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Choate Johnson; two sons, Bob Johnson and Thomas Andrew Johnson, Jr., both of Nashville; a daughter, June Robinette of Lexington; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William Johnson. His parents were Walter and Agnes Carter Johnson.
Funeral services were May 2, 2006 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Rev. Wayne Garvey officiated. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.

Redd
Lala E. Redd, 82, of Marion, passed away April 27, 2006 at Livingston Hospital. She was a member of Barnett Chapel Church.
Surviving are two sons, Kenneth (Helen) Redd of Plainfield, Ind., and Bennett (Toyia) Redd of Marion; a daughter, Joyce (Danny Quertermous of Marion; a brother, Howard Stone of Marion; a sister, Loma Hodge of Marion; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Edgar Stone; a sister, Regina Easley; her husband, Trice Redd; and a granddaughter, Kimberly Redd. Her parents were James Ollie and Orvillette Stone.
Services were April 30, 2006 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Rev. A.C. Hodge and Rev. Jimmy Porter officiated. Burial was in Freedom Cemetery.
Walker
Mary Bea Walker, 84, of Marion, formerly of Mt. Carmel, Ill., passed away April 29, 2006 at Crittenden County Health and Rehab.
Walker owned and operated Purple Puff Beauty Salon in Mt. Carmel for several years. She also worked as an instructor at the Colborn Beauty Academy in Mt. Carmel. She served as house mother for Alpha Delta Pi Sorority at the University of Illinois and the Delta Tau Fraternity at the DePaw University in Greencastle, Ind.
Survivors are five grandchildren, Colette Simpson of Othello, Wash., Rebecca Hyatt of Waynesville, Mo., Angela Walker Owen of Marion, Ronald Ray Walker of Galena, Ohio and Chad Walker of Marion. She had seven great-grandchildren, Logan and Emily Owen, Ian Walker Hyatt, Lane and McKenzie Simpson and Sidney and Clara Walker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Amanda Casebier Morrison; her husband Carson E. Walker; two sons, Ronald Ray and Eddie Walker; a brother, Robert Morrison; and a grandson, Kelly Walker.
Graveside services were May 3, 2006 at Burnt Prairie Cemetery in Burnt Prairie, Ill.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Dr. Wight
Longtime Marion dentist Dr. Donald L. Wight, 81, passed away April 22, 2006. A memorial service was held April 25 at Marion Christian Church with Dr. Dan Lovell officiating. Gilbert Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Wight was a graduate of Transylvania University in Lexington and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Northwestern University Dental School in Chicago. Following graduation, he began his dental practice in Marion in 1950 and retired from dentistry in 2001.
Wight served on the Crittenden County Board of Education for nearly 46 years. Education was his second avocation, and he constantly worked to make the Crittenden County School System the best.
He was an elder at Marion Christian Church, was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, Knights Templar, was a Kentucky Colonel and member of Rizpah Shrine Temple.
He was a member of the Kentucky Dental Association, as well as the American Dental Society. While in college, Wight belonged to Kappa Alpha fraternity and to Psi Omega Dental fraternity. He practiced preventive dentistry and education to his patients for good dental hygiene and kept abreast of new dental materials and techniques. He belonged to the Pankey Study Club in Louisville for a few years and the West Central Kentucky Dental Association. He was a former member and past president of the Kiwanis Club.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Barbara; a daughter, Barbara Ann Wight of Seattle, Wash.; a son, Charles Wight of Jeffersonville, Ind.; a granddaughter, Wendi Wight; and three great-grandchildren, Kane Wight, Kaylee Holdman and Kendra Williams.
To honor Wight, the family has established a scholarship in his name at Crittenden County High School. Memorial contributions may be made to the scholarship fund at The Peoples Bank.
