Funeral services for Billy John Vick, 73, of Marion, were held Jan. 21, 2006 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Rev. B.H. Spurrier officiated. Burial was in Rosebud Cemetery.
A member of Rosebud Church, he passed away Jan. 18 at Crittenden Hospital.
Surviving are his wife, Eva Mae Vick of Marion; a daughter, Rita Conger of Marion; a son, Bill Vick of Nebo; two cousins, Jean Kearney of Evansville and Ray Shelton of Newburg, Ind.; and a granddaughter, Samantha Vick of Nebo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Haline Vick; and a brother, Marlin Vick.
Lemon
Kenneth Michael Lemon, 38, of Marion, passed away Jan. 3, 2006 at his home. He was employed by Rayloc in Morganfield.
Surviving are his wife, Tammy Lemon of Marion; a sister, Kim Cosby of Marion; two daughters, Brittany and Dusty Lemon of Marion; and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herschel K. and Regina Benson Lemon; grandparents Herschel and Clara Mae Lemon and Spurlin and Mary (Shofner) Benson; and a brother-in-law, Robert Cosby.
Funeral services were Jan. 7 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Rev. Mark Faughn and Sister Lucy Tedrick officiated. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.
Head
BURNA, Ky. - Services for Grover C. Head, 81, will be at 1 p.m., Jan. 19, 2006, at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Benton and Rev. Lynn Farlee officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Head, a U.S. Army veteran, was a retired farmer. He attended Hampton United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Mary Helen Roberts Head; three daughters, Connie (Richard) Watkins of Ledbetter, Marilyn (Mike) Riley and Sheila (Darryl) Chittenden, both of Salem; one son, Stan (Lisa) Head of Burna; four sisters, Norma Wuster of Upland, Ind., Eloise Ablett of Greenwood, Ind., Mildred Woodall of St. Charles, Mo., and Frances Arnold of Indianapolis; nine grandchildren, Dr. Cara Watkins Hammonds of Cold Spring, Crista Watkins Maddux of Louisville, Kyle Riley, Kurt Riley, Andrea Chittenden and Brett Chittenden, all of Salem, and Mary Beth Head, Jennifer Head and Cameron Head, all of Burna; and one great-grandson, Carsen Hammonds of Cold Spring.
Head was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Leigh Ann Riley; three sisters; and three brothers. His parents were Grover Cleveland Head Sr., and Marjorie Thompson Head.

James
SALEM, Ky. - Ocie Beckham "O.B." James, 81, passed away Jan. 14, 2006 at Livingston Hospital. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church and the Salem Masonic Lodge #81.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn James of Salem; two sons, Dr. Gary (Jerrell) James of Marion and David (Connie) James of Smithland; four daughters, Rebecca (Danny) Carlton of Madisonville, Patricia Shelkell of Ledbetter, Donna Carrington of Allen Park, Mich., and Margie (David) Kelly of Smithland; two sisters, Sue Smith of Calvert City and Virginia Morris of Glassboro, N.J.; two brothers, Merrill James of Marion and Don James of Louisville; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
His parents, Roy L. James and Eva Cobb James, preceded him in death along with his stepmother, Sally James, and three brothers, Vinston James, Joyce James and Billy Roberts.
Services were held Jan. 16 at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. John East and Rev. Ken Cummins officiating. James' body has been donated to the University of Louisville School of Medicine.

Smith
SMITHLAND, Ky. - Ewing E. Smith, 87, passed away Jan. 15, 2006 at Salem Springlake Health and Rehab Center. He was of Baptist faith and a member of Dycusburg Masonic Lodge and Frances Order of the Eastern Star.
He is survived by two daughters, Evelyn (Gerald) Elder of Fredonia and Gladys (John) Clark of Marion; a brother, Glen Allen Smith of Smithland; and two grandchildren, Chris Elder of Fredonia and Caelyn Clark of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Smith; a brother, Larry Smith; and two sisters, Alberta Tracy and Marcella Hale. His parents were James Gobel Smith and Gertrude Matthews Smith.
Services were Jan. 17 at Boyd Funeral Home. Rev. Donnie Howton and Rev. Lonnie Knight officiated. Burial was in Leeper Cemetery in Tiline.
O'Bryan
GRAND RIVERS, Ky. - Funeral services for John Henry O'Bryan, 89, were held Jan. 17, 2006 at Grand Rivers United Methodist Church. Rev. Mac Walls officiated, and burial was in Dixon Cemetery in Grand Rivers.
O'Bryan was retired from the maintenance department at Airco Carbide in Calvert City with more than 20 years of service. He was also a farmer. He served as mayor of Grand Rivers from 1954-1962 and again from 1970-1990. He served on the Grand Rivers City Council from 1994-2000. and on the board of several civic organizations.
Survivors include two sons, Randall O'Bryan of Grand Rivers and Burnett O'Bryan of Springfield, Ill.; two daughters, Betty Stiles of Grand Rivers and Rose Mary Richards of Virginia Beach, Va.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Dunnagan O'Bryan; two brothers, Owen O'Bryan and Otis O'Bryan; and a sister, Alice O'Bryan who passed away in infancy. His parents were Luther O'Bryan and Lina McWaters O'Bryan.
Koon
Services for Marian C. "Shorty" Koon, 86, were held Jan. 15, 2006 at Boyd Funeral Home. Bro. Walzie Hosick officiated. Burial was in Salem Cemetery.
Koon, a member of New Salem Cumberland Presbyterian Church, passed away Jan. 12 at Livingston Hospital.
Surviving are two daughters, Henry Etta (Neal) Ramage of Mt. Dora, Fla., and Sherrie Koon (Jeff) McFee of Nashville; a son, Steve Koon of Salem and a grandson, Steven Koon of Evansville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Koon; two sisters, Helen Watson and Margaret Brown; a brother, Tom Harpending; and a grandson, Jeff Koon. Her parents were Harry and Lassie Hicks Harpending.
Shewmaker
William Arzie Shewmaker, 84, passed away Jan. 10, 2006. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist church where he served as Sunday school director for several years. He was also a member of the Ohio River Baptist Association Executive Board.
Upon retirement in 1981 from Chrysler Corporation in St. Louis, Shewmaker worked his family farm in Marion. He was a Kentucky Colonel, Crittenden County Master Conservationist, vice chairman of Crittenden County Conservation District and served 11 years on the Crittenden County Farm Bureau Board of Directors.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Roberta Drury Shewmaker; two daughters, Carolyn Shewmaker of Marion and Judy (Mark) Gargus of Owensboro; a son, William "Bill" Arzie (Kelley) Shewmaker, Jr., of Marion; a brother, Ormon Shewmaker of Henderson; a sister, Melva Adkins of Elizabethtown; four grandchildren, Ethan Shewmaker of Marion and Joshua, Anna and Caleb Gargus of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Billie and Ina Newcom Shewmaker; and two brothers, Carmon Shewmaker and Vervil Shewmaker.
Services were held Jan. 14 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Pine
Former Marion City Councilman Walter Edward Pine, 80, passed away Jan. 8, 2006 at his home.
He was a Master Mason with Bigham Lodge #256 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 and on the USS Boxer LST 133 until 1951. He retired from Inland Steel with 27 years of service in East Chicago, Ind. He also worked with the Lake County Sheriff's office in Indiana from 1967-1976.
Surviving are his wife, Neta Pine of Marion; three sons, Jerry B. Pine of Hammond, Ind., Jim D. Belt of Hobart, Ind., and Emil C. Belt of Wanatah, Ind.; a brother, Doyle (Naoma) Jennings of Marion; a brother-in-law, Leon Hodge of Marion; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Eddie Pine; a sister-in-law, Jean Hall; and his parents, Percy and Charlotte Pine.
Services will be at 1 p.m., Jan. 12 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mapleview Cemetery. Rev. Shoney Oliver will officiate.
