Clarence Elbert Penn Jr., 74, of Marion passed away at 11:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007 at Crittenden Hospital.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a retired miner from Gunther-Nash Coal Co.
Survivors include his wife, Shelby Penn of Marion; two daughters, Sandy Heady of Marion and Marilyn D’Amico of Waveland, Miss.; four sons, James, Kenneth, Gary and Jerald, all of Marion; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
Penn was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Elbert Sr., and Catherine Brown Penn; two brothers; and one sister.
Funeral services were Sunday, Nov. 4 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Rogers Waters officiating. Burial was at Mapleview Cemetery.

Rushing
Doris Ann Rushing, 69, of Humble, Texas, formerly of Marion, passed away at 3:05 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007 at her home.
She was a member of St. William Catholic Church, Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society, Beta Sigma Phi and was a Kentucky Colonel.
Rushing is survived by her husband, Ken Rushing of Humble; a daughter, Gina Byrd of Tybee Island, Ga.; a son, William M. Rushing of Humble; a brother, Lawrence William Barkau Jr. of San Diego, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence William Sr. and Charline Barkau, and one son.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 8 at St. William Catholic Church in Marion with Father Larry McBride officiating. Burial will be at the St. William Cemetery.
Visitation was from 6-9 p.m., Wednesday at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion.
Doom
Courtney Doom, 73, of Smithland passed away at 1:47 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007 at her home.
He was a member of Smithland First Baptist Church, an avid hunter and retired from Carbide of Calvert City.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Wanda Doom of Smithland; three daughters, Debra (Joe) Thomason of Smithland, and Sandra (Danny) Sewell of Calvert City and Pam (Mitchell) Thompson of Gilbertsville; a son, Tim (Michelle) Doom of Benton; five brothers, Louie Doom, Teddy Doom and Hugh Doyle Doom, all of Grand Rivers, and Holland Doom and Willis Doom, both of Smithland; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Doom was preceded in death by his parents, Norvin and Edria Mae Doom; a sister, Charles Marie; and a brother, Loye Doom.
Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 3 at Smith Funeral Chapel in Smithland with Rev. Willie Guess and Rev. Andrew Sexton officiating. Burial was at Cothran Cemetery.
Tabor
Robert Shawn Tabor, 27, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007 at Crittenden Hospital as a result of injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
Arrangements at Boyd Funeral Home were incomplete at press time.
Brasher
Ray Brasher, 44, of Marion passed away at 4:27 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007 at his residence.
He was a member of Marion Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Ann Crider Brasher of Marion; two sons, Ray Brasher of Murray and Matthew Brasher of Bowling Green; a daughter, Candace Brasher of Murray; two brothers, Mike Brasher of Bowling Green and Jeff Brasher of Nortonville; three sisters, Kathy Offutt of Madisonville, Mary Ford of Greenville and Diwana Wilson of Russellville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Garland and Osie Mae Hunter Brasher.
Graveside services were Saturday, Nov. 3 at New Salem Cemetery in Nortonville with Rev. Jamie Baker officiating.
Myers Funeral Home in Marion was in charge of arrangements.
Guess
Virgil N. Guess, 95, of Louisville, formerly of Marion, passed away Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007.
He was a retired employee of Sperry-New Holland, a methodist and a Kentucky Colonel.
Guess is survived by his wife, Marie Richardson Guess; three sons, Foster (Jo-Ann) and Harry (Donna) Guess of Louisville, and Jim (Glenda) Guess of Henderson; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Nov. 7 at Foreman’s Funeral Home in Jeffersontown with graveside services later in the day at Hurricane Cemetery near Tolu.
Fletcher
Fannie Pearl Fletcher, 82, of Marion passed away at 2 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007 at Crittenden Hospital.
She was a member of the Marion Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Hunter Edwards of Marion; four sons, Carl Ferrell of Villa Ridge, Mo., Rickie Fletcher and Jerry Fletcher, both of Marion, and Charles Fletcher Jr. of Dever, Wyo.; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren
Fletcher was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Fletcher Sr., and her parents, George A. and Lillien Mae Ferrell.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday Nov. 8 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Burial will be at Mapleview Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 5-9 p.m., Wednesday.

Clarke
Ida Frances Clarke, 81, of Marion passed away at 4:05 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007 at Crittenden Hospital.
Born Jan. 16, 1926 in Union County, she was a life member of Virgil Jones VFW Ladies Auxiliary Marion Post 12022.
Survivors include her husband, William E. Clarke; three daughters, Tamie Clarke, Rita Vickery and Lisa Benson, all of Marion; a son, Randall Clarke of Beaver Dam; two step-sisters, Pat Starkey of Sturgis and Betty Cowles of Marion, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Robinson of Morganfield and Elsie Kuester of Evansville; a cousin, Donald (Pat) Russell of Evansville; several nieces and nephews; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Clarke was preceded in death by her parents, James R. and Lorene Woodard Robinson Sr.; a step-father, Samuel Straker; one brother, James R. (Sammy) Robinson Jr.; and a grandson, Scott A. Morris.
Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 29 at at Myers Funeral Home in Marion with Sister Lucy Tedrick officiating. Burial was at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville.

Martin
World War II veteran Norris Martin, 85, of Grand Rivers passed away at 10 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007 at Livingston Hospital.
Martin had been a member of the invasion of Normandy during the Second World War.
He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and the American Legion Burna Post 217.
Norris is survived by three daughters, Nancy Mitchell and Marilyn O’Bryan, both of Grand Rivers, and Teresa Croft of Salem; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Lee Martin and Cassie Geneva Barnett Martin and one sister, Neva Woody.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Oct. 30 at Boyd Funeral Home in Salem with Rev. Brent Lee officiating. Burial was at Salem Cemetery.
