Lester Devere Curless, 91, of Mattoon passed away at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007 at Crittenden Health & Rehab Center.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Berry Curless; four daughters, RoseMary Trowbridge of Morganfield, Barbara Jean Leheccka of McHenry, Ill., Alice Marie Blazina of Marion and Lee Ann Gardella of Marion; one son, Lester Curless of Geneva, Fla.; two sisters, Mary Lou Genseal of San Antonio, Texas and Alice Marie Rose of Auburn, Calif.; two brothers Perry Curless of Spring Bay, Ill., and Bernard Curless of Metomora, Ill.; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
His parents were Claude Albert and Verna Shawgo Curless. In addition to his parents, Curless was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Curless and his first wife, Alba Julia Abreu Curless.
Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis was in charge of arrangements. A service was held there on Thursday, Sept. 27. A funeral and graveside service were also held in Orange Park, Fla. Burial was at Jacksonville Memory Gardens in Orange Park.
McKinney
Cora McKinney, 92, formerly of Marion and Salem, passed away Friday, Oct. 5, 2007 at Spring Creek Health Care in Murray, Ky.
She is survived by a daughter, Janice Arflack (Kenneth) of Madison, Ala.; a son, Danny (Shirley) McKinney of Murray; five grandchildren, Kent Arflack of Madison, Ala., Kevin Arflack of Seattle, Wash., Keith (Katherine) Arflack of Greer, S.C.; Danette (Steve) Shepard of Madisonville and Kimberly Cummings of Murray; and seven great-grandchildren.
McKinney was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Orville McKinney; her parents, James and Josephene Croft; eight brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 8 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Herbert Alexander officiating. Burial followed at Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
McKinney was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

LaRue
Funeral services for Fannie Louise LaRue, 83, of Fredonia will be at 11 a.m., Friday at Boyd Funeral Chapel in Salem. LaRue passed away at 10:45 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 9 at Crittenden Hospital.
Rev. Herbert Alexander will officiate the funeral and burial will follow at Salem Cemetery.

Jones
Cora Lottie B. Quertermous Jones, 77, of Henshaw passed away at 2:39 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007 at Methodist Hospital in Henderson.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Edward E. Jones; two daughters, Brenda Jones of Henshaw and Dena Davis of Waverly; five sons, Darrel Jones of Sturgis, Dorris “Bud” Jones and Doyle Jones, both of Henshaw; Donald Jones of Flora, Ill., and Roger Jones of Darmstadt, Ind.; a sister, Ruby Phillips of Marion; a brother, Bill Quertermous of Grand Prairie, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Aleck L. and Hettie F. Jones.
Funeral services were Oct. 2 at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield with Rev. Jim Lane officiating. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Morganfield.
Sigler
Macie Lee Sigler, 91, of Marion passed away at 9:05 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007 at Crittenden Hospital.
She was a homemaker and member of Sugar Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two daughters Norma Sue Keeling of East Peoria, Ill., and Glenda Todd of Marion; two sons, Wayne Sigler of Kuttawa and Gerald Sigler of Ledbetter; a brother, Leon Hodges of Crayne; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Sigler was born May 23, 1916 in Crittenden County, the daughter of Vernon and Lucy Wigginton Hodges, who preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by her husband, Delmer Sigler; sisters, Velda Lamb and Geneva Chandler and a brother, Carlos Hodges.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 10 at Myers Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Frank McCallum and Rev. Gary Carlton officiating. Burial was at Sugar Grove Cemetery.

Simpkins
Funeral services for Paul L. Simpkins will be at 1 p.m., today (Thursday) at Gilbert Funeral Home.
Simpkins, 34, of Marion passed away at 11:04 a.m., Monday, Oct. 8, 2007 at Crittenden Hospital following a nearly four-year battle with scleroderma. He was a member of the Ambassador for Christ Church and formerly employed by Dotiki Coal mines in Webster County.
Survivors include his wife, Brandi Simpkins; a son, Dayton Simpkins, his mother, Linda Penn; father Larry Simpkins; a brother, Joey Simpkins; two sisters, Sissy Conyer and Meredith Conger; a step-brother, Chris Penn; and a step-sister, Leslie Ann Simpkins, all of Marion.
Visitation was held starting at 5 p.m., Wednesday at Gilbert Funeral Home. Burial will be at Asbridge Cemetery.
Woodall
Larry Michael Woodall, 57, of Evansville passed away Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007 at his residence.
Woodall was born Jan. 28, 1950 in Marion. He was a 1968 graduate of Harrison High School and attended the University of Southern Indiana. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1971 and was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas during the Vietnam War.
He was most recently a real estate agent. Woodall was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite, Lessing Masonic Lodge #464, the Hadi Shrine, and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He coached youth softball and soccer. He was also an avid supporter of swimming competitions.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Rosalie Lodato Woodall; daughters, Julie (Carl) Underwood and Sarah Woodall; parents, Wilbur and Bernice Belt Woodall, all of Evansville; brothers, Ron (Debbie) Woodall of Downers Grove, Ill., and Stephen G. (Darla) Woodall of Evansville; 20 nieces and nephews and three great-nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Mass was Monday, Oct. 8, 2007 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Evansville with Deacon Ed Wilkerson, Fr. Attila Frohlich and Rev. Randy Anderson officiating. Burial was at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club conducted military rites.
Browning Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Hughes
James William Hughes, 84, of Marion passed away at 4:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 1, 2007 at his residence.
Born on Aug. 2, 1923 in Crittenden County, Hughes was retired from Potter & Brumfield where was a maintenance supervisor.
Survivors include a daughter, Caroline Bryant of Marion; and a sister, Dorothy Hughes of Marion; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Hodge Hughes, and his parents Wilmer and Rena Craighead Hughes.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m., Wednesday at Myers Funeral Home with Rev Chris Brantley officiating. Burial was in Freedom Cemetery.
Hunter
Garrett Edward Hunter, 60, of Marion passed away at 4 p.m., Friday, Sept. 28, 2007 at Crittenden Hospital.
Survivors include a son, Garrett Edward Hunter Jr., of Marion; his mother, Lillie Mae Kinnis Clark of Marion; two sisters, Reba Kersey of Crayne and Mary Jane Lynch of Marion; and one brother, Clinton Lowery Hunter of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Edward Hunter.
Funeral services were Oct. 2 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Alexander and Rev. Roger Stewart officiating. Burial was in Bell Mines Cemetery.
Fondaw
Robert Lee Fondaw, 72, of Marion passed away at 8:50 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007, at Livingston Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Fondaw of Marion; two daughters, Julie Ann Earls and Karen Denise Benavides of Marion; a son, Robert Fondaw of Barbersville, Ky.; four brothers, Jessie Parker of Ortonville, Mich., Eddie Spencer of Petoskey, Mich., Samuel Spencer of Au-Gres, Mich., Ernest Fondaw of Lovelaceville, Ky., three sisters, Dorothy Harrell of Twining, Mich., Linda Byerley of Lovelaceville, Ky., and Jackie Spencer of Arizona; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Fondaw was preceded in death by his parents, Hurley Lester Fondaw and Anna Mae Willis Spencer, and two brothers.
Funeral services were Oct. 2 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Leroy Driver officiating. Burial was at Mapleview Cemetery.
