Mildred E. Griffin, 92, of Marion, passed away May 29, 2007 at Crittenden Hospital. She was a member of Marion Church of God.
Surviving are four daughters, Shirley Wells of Sullivan, Judy Engel of Evansville and Nancy Croft and Kay Grimes, both of Marion; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Griffin; her parents, Homer and Lucy Smith Hughes; and three brothers.
Services were May 31, 2007 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Sister Lucy Tedrick officiated. Burial was at Mapbleview Cemetery.
Barnes
Mural Reed Barnes, 74, of Smithland, passed away May 27, 2007 at Medco Center of Paducah. He was a retired machinist at ISP in Calvert City. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his wife, Jennie Barnes of Smithland; three daughters, Vanita Ann (Tim) Edmonds of Hampton, Bonnie Lorine (Keith) Hodge of Paducah, Juanita Raye (Ken) Tousley of Salem; two sons, Ronald O'Neil Newbold of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jeffery Gale Newbold of Brookport, Ill.; two brothers, Bobby Barnes of Paducah and Mike Barnes of Morganfield; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by her parents, Boyce Barnes and Marie Bell Noffsinger.
Services were May 29 at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Brown officiating. Burial was in Good Hope Cemetery
Brasher
Sue Brasher, 65, of Burna, passed away May 27, 2007 at her home. She was a member of Pinckneyville Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Lisa M. Brasher of Burna; a sister, Connie Travis of Marion; a brother, Joe Campbell of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Brasher; her parents, Willie D. and Sarah Campbell; a sister; and a brother.
Rev. Terry Mitcheson and Rev. Harold Rittenberry officiated services May 29 at Boyd Funeral Home. Burial was in Dyer Hill Cemetery.
Henderson
Buford Claude Henderson, 83, of Marion, passed away June 1, 2007 at Hilltop Nursing Home in Kuttawa. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and part of the Normandy Invasion.
Survivors include his wife, Lorene Henderson of Marion; a daughter, Carol Thompson of Marion; a son, Ted Henderson of Mountain Rest, S.C.; a brother, Jessie B. Henderson, Jr., of Rock Hill, S.C.; a granddaughter, Lindsey Thompson of Belmont, N.C.; two grandsons, Steve Thompson and Mikki Thompson, both of Marion; and a great-grandson, Tristan Thompson of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie B. and Mary Edith Strange Henderson, Sr.; and a sister.
Services were June 3 at Gilbert Funeral Home with burial in Crowell Cemetery.
Thurby
Debra Lois Thurby, 49, of Marion, passed away June 2, 2007 at her home.
Surviving are her parents, Herman and Kathleen Logan Reed of Marion; four sisters, Kathy Austin of Xenia, Ohio, and Sheila Barnes of Lola, Karla Curnel and Margie Hamilton, both of Marion; a stepson, Stephen Floyd of Marion; and one step grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Randy Floyd; a sister, Lynda Hart; and a brother, James William Reed.
Graveside services were June 4 at Mapleview Cemetery. Rev. Jimmy Porter officiated. Myers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Boyd
Frances Louise Boyd, 85, of Franklin, Ind., formerly of Marion, passed away June 2, 2007 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. She was a member of Marion Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Rendell Boyd, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nathan and Verna Daugherty Lindsey.
Services will be at 11 a.m., June 7 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Rev. Jerry Thurman will officiate. Burial is in Mapleview Cemetery.
Corlew
Albert H. “Bud” Corlew, Jr., 86, of Marion, passed away June 2, 2007 at Crittenden Health and Rehab. He was a veteran of World War II.
Surviving is his wife, Doris Fleming Corlew of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert H. Sr., and Carrie Hand Corlew.
Myers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Sanders
Services for Thomas W. Sanders, 91, of Seven Hills, Ohio, were June 5, 2007 at Boyd Funeral Home. Rev. John East officiated. Burial was in Hampton Cemetery.
Sanders passed away May 25 at Pleasant Lake Villa in Parma, Ohio.
Surviving are his daughter-in-heart, Dianne (Richard) Knight of Seven Hills, Ohio; a grandson, Nathan (Betty) Ramos of Brooklyn, Ohio; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara LaVerne Dunkerson Sanders; two sisters, Ernestine and Zela; four brothers, Edd, Raymond, Frank and Mack; and his parents, Ernest and Nollie Sanders.
Gerding
Dorothy Faye Gerding, 69, passed away May 30, 2007.
Her parents were Dellar and Ruby Driver. She had a sister, Laverne Rotes, two brothers, Willard and R.D. Driver of Carrsville, who preceded her in death.
She was married
to Clarence Hayden Gerding, and the couple had a daughter, Deana Jo; and a son, Gregory Dean, who passed away in 2002.
The couple had three children, the late Carl Hayden, Hayden and Teresa.
Ms. Gerding was a member of Carrsville Baptist Church for 47 years and was a past member of the Carrsville City Council.
She was a Kentucky Colonel, and is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Services were June 1 at Carrsville Baptist Church with Bro. Virgil Diel and James Driver officiating. Burial was in Carrsville Cemetery.
Boyd Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Holloman
Elmer “Fud” Holloman, 66, of Marion, passed away June 3, 2007 at Crittenden Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Holloman of Marion; a daughter, Denise Croft of Marion; three brothers, Willie Holloman and Joe Holloman, both of Missouri, and Dennis Holloman of Princeton; three sisters, Shelby Jean Cates and Jerald Ann Curry, both of Missouri, and Betty Coreley of Marion; and one grandson, Payton Croft.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Lorean Holloman; a son, Elmer Holloman, Jr.; and a sister.
Services were June 5 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Holloman and Rev. Phillip Curry officiating. Burial was in McMican Cemetery.
