John Adam Betz, Sr., 72, of the Farmersville community, passed away Sept. 14, 2000 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Betz was a retired machinist with the Whirlpool Corp., in Evansville after 42 years of service. He was a member of St. Bonifaces Catholic Church in Evansville and attended Donaldson Baptist Church in Caldwell County.
Surviving are his wife, Connie Sue Kniffen-Killian Betz; six sons, John Adam Betz, Jr., Danny Ray Betz and Gregory Betz, all of Evansville, Terry Wayne Betz of Louisville and Robbie Joseph Betz of Indianapolis; three daughters, Joanie Lynn Goode of Evansville, Tamara Renee Johnson of Bedford, Ind., and Kristi Ann Chaidez of Ft. Drum, N.Y.; two brothers, Donnie Betz and Billy Ray Betz of Evansville; two sisters, Barbara Ann Lipscomb of Eddyville and Nancy Sue Stricker of Evansville; 20 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Betz was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Funeral services were held Sept. 17 at Morgan's Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. Larry King officiating. Burial was in Fredonia cemetery.
Alley
Martie Alley, 77, of Paducah, passed away Sept. 14, 2000 at Western Baptist Hospital.
Surviving are a daughter, Doris Hubbard of Paducah; four sisters, Thelma Willett of Madisonville, Pauline Hiatt of Centralia, Ill., Roberta Ford and Linda Shockley, both of Madsionville; two brothers, Rolley Johnson of Salem and Randolph Johnson of Waynesville, Ohio; a granddaughter, Adrienne Hubbard of Paducah; and a grandson, Matthew Hubbard of Paducah.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jewell Alley; a sister; and her parents, Rolley and Mae Dobbs Johnson.
Funeral services were held Sept. 17 at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Rice officiating. Burial was in Pinckneyville Cemetery.
Truitt
Funeral services for Mildred McKinley Truitt, 80, of Owensboro, were held Sept. 18, 2000 at Glenn Funeral home in Owensboro. Truitt, who was raised in Crittenden County, passed away Sept. 15 at her home. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery.
She was a member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church and a member of Stanley Methodist Church for 50 years until its closure. She was a homemaker and volunteered at the Elizabeth Mundy Senior Center.
Survivors include three sons, Jerry Truitt of Memphis, Paul Truitt of Nashville and Joe Truitt of Owensboro; three daughters, Linda Miller of Holland, Mich., Karen DeWitt of Prospect and Brenda Jones of Puyallup, Wash.; 19 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Evans Truitt.
Kemper
Jacquetta Kemper, 85, of Lola, passed away Sept. 18, 2000 at Crittenden Hospital. Funeral services were held Sept. 20 at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Snyder officiating. Burial was in Old Salem Cemetery.
Survivors include a son, Dale Kemper of Marion; a sister, Ruth Lockhart of Salem; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Kemper; a son, Vaughn Kemper; and her parents, Richard and Eager Vaughn.
Mitchell
Callie Mitchell, 94, of Hampton, passed away Sept. 18, 2000 at Salem Springlake Care Center.
Surviving are two brothers, Marvin and Edd Dickerson, both of Hampton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C.W. Mitchell; a son, William Mitchell; four brothers; two sisters; and her parents, John Wesley and Flora Stanley Dickerson.
Funeral services will be held Sept. 21 at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Beals officiating. Burial will be in Old Salem Cemetery.
Millikan
Harold Wayne "Shorty" Millikan, 66, of Rosiclare, Ill., passed away Aug. 1, 2000. He was a member of Glendale General Baptist Church and later attended First United Methodist Church in Rosiclare, Ill.
Millikan is survived by his wife, Lois Millikan of Rosiclare; a daughter, Kathy Jo Millikan, of Rosiclare, Ill.; a sister, Mary Goolsby of Marion; two brothers, Charles Millikan of Marion and Bill Millikan of Sturgis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Roma Millikan, and a daughter, Virginia Faye Millikan.
Funeral services were held in Hardin County, Ill., with burial in Freedom Cemetery.
Horning
Carl Horning, 98, of Marion, passed away Sept. 11, 2000 at Crittenden Hospital.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Janet Horning of Westerville, Ohio; and a special friend, Miss Jamie Myers of Marion; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Horning, and a son, Curtis Carl Horning.
Funeral services were held Sept. 13 at Shady Grove Cemetery with Rev. Mickey Myers officiating.
Curnell
Barbara Jean Curnell, 59, of Marion, passed away Sept. 9, 2000 at her home. Funeral services were held Sept. 12 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Phillips officiating. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.
Surviving are her husband, Ollie Curnell of Marion; a daughter, Jeanne Farmer of Marion; two brothers, Dennis Smiley of Ledbetter and John Smiley of Cave Creek, Ariz.; four sisters, June Kerns of Calvert City, Janice Ellegood of Reidland, Shirley Kirk of Marion and Sandy Faith of Gilbertsville; and two grandchildren, Savannah Farmer and Mark Farmer, both of Marion.

Venita Louise Guess, 75, of Marion, passed away Sept. 10, 2000 at Salem Springlake Care Center.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond Guess; two sons, Donald Guess of Paducah and Ronald Guess of Frances; a sister, Gwen Deboe of Westland, Mich.; three grandchildren, Donald Guess Jr., Jonathan Guess and Zackariah Guess; and a step-grandson, Bobby Carver.

Nancy Jean Mannahan Mart, 68, of Crofton, passed away Sept. 3, 2000 at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville. She was a homemaker and a member of the Nortonville Trinity Gospel Tabernacle.
Survivors include her husband, J.R. Mart of Crofton; six daughters, Tommie Sue Rogers of Crofton, Linda Faye Cook of Louisville, Donna Gwen Thorpe of Norfolk, Va., Hope Wetonia Sherman of Nortonville, Carla June Benbrook of Crofton and Nikki Mart of Crofton; two brothers, Leroy Mannahan of Sturgis and Truman Mannahan of Nortonville; a sister, Helen Oglesby of Crofton; 20 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Watson
James "Bud" Watson, 42, of Marion, passed away Sept. 4, 2000 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Sept. 7 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Phillips and Rev. Darrell Clarke officiating. Burial will be in Mapleview Cemetery.
He was a member of the National Abatement and Asbestos Workers Local #207.
Surviving are his wife, Lonette Watson of Marion; three children, Charles, Jonathan and Katrina, all at home; his mother, Fannie Watson Williams of Marion; four sisters, Linda Odom of Marion, Frances Adams of Dawson Springs, Elsie Watson of Portland, Tenn., and Alice Faye Bonia of Oak Grove, Tenn.
