Victor "Mack" Carter, 76, of Benton, formerly of Salem, passed away Aug. 22, 2000 at Western Baptist Hospital. Funeral services were held Aug. 25 at Collier Funeral Home in Benton. Dr. J.T. Parish officiated. Burial was in Marshall County Memorial Gardens.
Carter was a retired railcar inspector in northern Kentucky where he was employed most of his adult life.
Surviving are his wife, Edna May Williams Carter; three sons, Hayden Carter, Paul David Carter and Maxie Carter, all of Benton; a brother, James A. Carter of Salt Lake City, Utah; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several cousins in Crittenden and Livingston counties.
He was preceded in death by a twin sister, Mary Butler; two brothers, Trice Carter and J.D. Carter; and his parents, Vernon and Florence Alley Carter.
Millikan
Harold Wayne "Shorty" Millikan, 66, of Marion, passed away Aug. 1, 2000. He was a member of Glendale General Baptist Church and later attended First United Methodist Church in Rosiclaire, Ill.
Millikan is survived by his wife, Lois Millikan of Rosiclaire; a daughter, Kathy Jo Millikan, of Rosiclaire, Ill.; a sister, Mary Goolsby of Marion; two brothers, Charles Millikan of Marion and Bill Millikan of Sturgis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Roma Millikan, and a daughter, Virginia Faye Millikan.
Funeral services were held in Hardin County, Ill., with burial in Freedom Cemetery.
Ramey
Laura Ramey, 16, of Princeton, passed away Sept. 4, 2000. Funeral services will be held Sept. 7 at Morgan's Funeral Home in Princeton with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Surviving are her parents, Donnie and Kathy Ramey of Princeton; her maternal grandparents, James Marshall and June Rushing of Fredonia; and a brother, Jamie Allen Ramey of Paducah.
Garrett
Funeral services for Herman Garrett, 86, of Hampton, were held Sept. 3 at Boyd Funeral Home. Rev. Maxie Hansen officiated with burial in Duley Bluff Cemetery.
Garrett passed away Sept. 1, 2000 at his home.
Surviving are his wife, Isabell Garrett of Hampton; a son, Carlos Garrett of Salem; a daughter, Emma Lou Faulkner of Burna; three stepsons, James Jackson of Hampton, Odis Tolley of Burna and Vernon Tolley of Burna; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Jones
Funeral services for Linda Jones, 50, of Marion, were held Aug. 30 at Gilbert Funeral Home.
Jones passed away Aug. 27, 2000 at Owensboro Mercy Hospital.
Survivors include her parents, James E. "Bud" and Katie Crider of Marion; her husband, Steve Jones of Marion; a daughter, Kristi Tischer of Shawnee, Okla.; a son, Matthew Jones of Marion; a sister, Doris Stout of Marion; and a brother, Dr. Steve Crider, also of Marion.
Rev. Wendell Ordway and Rev. Tom Easley officiated the funeral service. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.
Kirk
James Blaine Kirk, 71, of Marion, passed away Aug. 28, 2000 at Crittenden Hospital. Funeral services were held Aug. 30 at Union Baptist Church with Rev. A.C. Hodge officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery.
Kirk is survived by his mother, Mary Kirk of Marion; a sister, Patsy McDonald of Salem; a brother, Michael Kirk of Salem; seven nieces and nephews and 13 great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Hayden Kirk, and a brother, Loyd Leon Kirk.
Coleman
Robbie Coleman, 99, of Marion, passed away Aug. 27, 2000 at Salem Springlake Care Center. He was a member of Piney Fork Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include six daughters, Mary Wheeler of Marion, Dorotha Enoch of Kankakee, Ill., Grace Barr of Pine Bluff, Ark., Jo Ann Howard of Paducah, Charlotte Booker of Hobart, Ind., Evelyn Beavers of Marion; a son, Bill Coleman of Marion; 23 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Coleman, and a daughter, Martha Harper.
Private funeral services have been arranged. Gilbert Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Calvert
Funeral services for James Obie Calvert, 74, of Dycusburg, will be held Sept. 1 at Frances Baptist Church.
Rev. Lonnie Knight will officiate.
Burial will be in Asbridge Cemetery.
Calvert is survived by two daughters, Charlotte Hamby of Dycusburg and Sandra Board of Dawson Springs; a son, Ricky Calvert of Eddyville; a brother, John Calvert of Mishawaka, Ind.; four sisters, Mary Jones of Evansville, Ruby Perkins of Madisonville, Martha Nolan of Livingston, Tenn., and Lena Fischer of Henderson; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Calvert, and a son, Donnie Calvert.
Little
Bonnie A. Little, 57, of Marion, passed away Aug. 16, 2000 at Crittenden Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, Dennis Ray Little Sr., of Marion; a daughter, Deanna L. Johnson of Henderson; two sons, David G. Little of Symsonia and Dennis Ray Little Jr., of Marion; two sisters, Ruby White and Kathy Fark, both of Booneville, Ind.; three brothers, Richard Edward Evans of Lynnville, Ind., Dennis Wayne Evans of Booneville, Ind., and Timothy B. Evans of Chandler; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and a sister. Her parents were Rema and Ivan Evans.
Funeral services were held Aug. 18 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Phillips officiating. Burial was in Lola Cemetery.
Loyd
Funeral services for Martha Ann Loyd, 70, of Marion, were held Aug. 22, 2000 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Loyd passed away Aug. 20 at Crittenden Hospital.
A member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Loyd is survived by her husband, William B. Loyd of Marion; two daughters, Elizabeth L. Buckalew of Virginia Beach, Va., and Janet L. Kemper of Marion; two sons, William T. Loyd of Columbus, Ohio and Dwight P. Loyd of Mesa, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were officiated by Rev. Todd Love and Rev. Wayne Garvey. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.
Towery
James W. Towery, 82, of Providence, passed away Aug. 19, 2000 at Crittenden County Convalescent Center. He was a retired coal miner from Island Creek Coal Company, a veteran of World War II and a charter member of VFW Post 5484.
Funeral services were held Aug. 22 at Townsend-Jones Funeral Home in Providence with Rev. Robert Phillips officiating. Burial was in White Oak Cemetery in Webster County.
Surviving are three sons, Melvin Towery and James R. "Joe" Towery of Henderson and Sonny D. Towery of Providence; two daughters, Norma M. Hunt of Marion and Debbie A. Teague of Providence; a brother, Raymond Towery of Clay; a sister, Bonnie Peavler of Henderson; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Laverne.
