Guess
Paul Guess, 65, of Panama City, Fla., formerly of Marion, passed away July 18, 2000 at his home.

Guess worked as a general contractor for 40 years. He was a member of St. Andrew's Baptist Chuch in Panama City.

Survivors include his wife, Rosetta Guess of Panama City; two daughters, Lavanda Holloman of Marion and Paula Cooper of Princeton; two sons, Ricky Guess of Bartlett, Tenn., and Randy Guess of Memphis, Tenn.; a stepdaughter, Tonya Stewart of Franklin; a stepson, Bartley Stewart of Tullaohma, Tenn.; a brother, Clifton Guess of Marion; six grandchildren; and serveral nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., July 29 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Dr. Darrell Clarke officiating.

Kimberlin
Elmer Kimberlin, 89, of Burna, passed away July 16, 2000 at Crittenden Hospital.

Surviving are his wife, Wilma Kimberlin of Burna and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers; a sister; three half brothers; and a half sister. His parents were Charles and Maudie Kimberlin.

Funeral services were held July 18 at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Grimes and Rev. Mike Reeves officiating. Burial was in McMurray Chapel Cemetery.

Lynch
Ruby Elizabeth Lynch, 82, of Marion, passed away July 15, 2000 at Crittenden County Convalescent Center. She was a foster parent for a number of years, opening her home to more than 250 children.

Lynch was a member of Sugar Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Shady Grove Eastern Star Chapter No. 505, and White Shrine No. 20.

She is survived by a son, Jerry Lynch of Madisonville; three brothers, Lawrence Carter of Marion, Thea O. Carter of Pineville and Cecil Carter of Tazewell, Tenn.; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther. Her parents were Elizabeth and Henry Carter.

Funeral services were held July 17 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Phillips and Rev. Frank McCallum officiated. Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery. Eastern Star services also were held.

Sailors
Vernon Wilson Sailors, 85, of Paducah, passed away July 11, 2000 at the VA Medical Center in Marion, Ill.

He was the former owner of two trucking companies in Missouri and Florida. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge and belonged to the Boilermakers Union out of St. Louis.

Surviving are his wife, Viola Sailors of Paducah; a son, David Sailors of Dallas; four sisters, Mae Jeffers and Virginia Brown of Florida and Margie Sinclair and Faye Riedel of California; a brother, Ray Sailors of California; two stepsons, Joe Dickerson of Crown Point, Ind., Randy Dickerson of Lancaster, Calif., and Jimmy Dickerson of Griffith, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Ray Sailors. His parents were John Sailors and Fannie Black.

Funeral services were conducted at Boyd Funeral Home in Salem with Rev. John East officiating. Burial was in Lola Cemetery.

Poindexter
Velma Poindexter, 75, of Marion, passed away July 11, 2000 at Crittenden Hospital. She was a member of Marion Baptist Church.

Surviving are two brothers, Roy Edward Duffy of St. Louis and Darrell Duffy of Henderson; a sister, Dorothy Butler of Henderson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Poindexter.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., July 13 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Rev. Darrell Clarke will officiate. Burial will be in Freedom Cemetery.

Howerton
Funeral services for Clara Etta Stone Howerton, 86, of Marion, were held July 12, 2000 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Howerton passed away July 10 at Princeton Health Care Manor.

She was a graduate of Evansville College with a degree in elementary education. She taught in Crittenden County for 17 years, where she retired. She also lived in Evansville, where she worked at Servel for more than 20 years.

Survivors include a brother, Harold W. Stone of Princeton, W. Va.; a sister, Helen Jo Guess of Princeton; two nieces; a nephew; three great-nieces; three great-nephews; and one great-great niece.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George William Howerton; her parents, Virgil and Maymie Stone; and two nephews, Donald W. Guess and Carl L. Stone.

Rev. Philip Falk officiated the service, held at Gilbert Funeral Home. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Presbyterian Church, 124 E. Bellville St., Marion, KY 42064.

Cornish
Louis J. Cornish, 83, of Marion, passed away July 1, 2000 at his home. He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Marion, and was a World War II Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Lynda Houser Cornish of Marion; two daughters, Carol Reeves of Ithaca, N.Y., and Christina Cornish of Princeton; one stepson, Dean Miller of Detroit; a grandson, Barrett Cooper of Princeton; and two sisters, Elsie Wilson and Irene Walsh, both of Ithaca.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Cornish. His parents were Louis and Elsie Ronto Cornish.

Memorial services were held July 15 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Marion. Dunn's Funeral Home in Eddyville was in charge of arrangements.

Johnson
Robert Perry Johnson, 76, of Evansville, passed away July 2, 2000 at Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. He was born in Crittenden County and resided in Evansville for more than 50 years.

Johnson was employed as an electronics technician with the Evansville Printing Corporation (Evansville Courier & Press) for 22 years and retired in 1988. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Survivors include a daughter, Donna S. Johnson of Jupiter, Fla.; his ex-wife, Sue Miller of Jupiter; a sister, Ruth Layman of Evansville; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were held July 7 at Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home in Jupiter, with entombment at Riverside Memorial Park in Tequesta, Fla.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 169 Pequesta Drive Suite 33E, Tequesta, FL 33469.

Sullenger
Bernice Sullenger, 88, of Louisville, formerly of Marion, passed away June 30, 2000 at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville.

She was a member of Deer Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Anna Russell of Louisville; a sister, Cathryn Stalion of Lake Station, Ind.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie Sullenger.

Funeral services were held July 3 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Brad Hall officiating. Burial was in Deer Creek Cemetery.
