Kentucky Marriage Records by County

Chittenden
Melva Dean Chittenden, 72, of Joy, passed away Jan. 30, 2000 at Salem Springlake Care Center. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for 40 years.

Chittenden attended Murray State University and was a former school teacher and retired secretary at Hampton Elementary School.

Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Lucian Chittenden of Joy; a daughter, Shirley Merritt of Benton; three sons, Louis Chittenden of LaCenter, Barry Chittenden of Hampton and Gary Chittenden of Salem; a brother, Eugene Threlkeld of Salem; 10 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Feb. 1 at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Snyder and Rev. Mike Grimes officiating. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery.

Westfall
Cloyd E. Westfall, 89, of Marion, passed away Jan. 26, 2000 at Crittenden County Convalescent Center. He was a member of Marion Church of God.

Funeral services were held Jan. 29 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Sister Lucy Tedrick officiating. Burial was in Salem Cemetery.

Surviving are two sons, Willard Westfall of Corpus Christi, Texas and Millard Westfall of California; a step daughter, Sue Wring of Marion; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Westfall and a daughter, Eva Jean Westfall.

Brasher
Edna Lois Brasher, 97, of Burna passed away Jan. 22, 2000 at Salem Springlake Care Center in Salem.

Brasher is survived by three daughters, Grace Adams of Portland, Ore., Mary Curnel of Santa Monica, Calif., and Louise Kayse of Burna; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Brasher; and two brothers.

Services were held Jan. 24 at Boyd Funeral Chapel with Revs. Roger Rice and Randy Beals officiating. Burial was in Dyer Hill Cemetery.

Scott
Services for Bennie "Tom" Scott, 87, of Eddyville, formerly of Marion, were held Jan. 24, 2000 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Phillips officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Caldwell County.

Scott was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Martha Scott of Eddyville; seven daughters, Wanda Thompson of Pacific, Mo., Hilda Pearman of Sullivan, Mo., Sandra Kinaya of Sterling Heights, Mich., Linda Teague of Kuttawa, Cecilia Ann Batchelder of Sterling Heights, Carolyn Latta of Paducah and Mary Ruth Bowler of Hardmoney; four sons, Floyd Junior Scott of Grandview, Eddie Scott of Bandana, Jerry Scott of Arnold, Mo., and James Robert Scott of Sterling Heights; 32 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, John Ross and Emma Dane Scott; a daughter; a son; and a sister.

Nichols
Velda Nichols, 90, of Lilburn, Ga., formerly of Marion, passed away Jan. 21, 2000 at Lilburn Geriatrics Center in Lilburn.

She was a member of Marion Baptist Church.

Nichols is survived by her son-in-law, John Kinsey of Atlanta, Ga.; a granddaughter, Karen Matthews of Atlanta; three grandsons, William Keegan and Kenneth Keegan, both of Atlanta and Mark Keegan of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Irma Dassel and Betty Napier, both of Evansville; a brother, Bennie Manley of Marion; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Curt Nichols; and her daughter, Joyce Kinsey.

Services were held Jan. 25 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Dr. Darrell Clarke officiating.

Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.

Lindle
Virginia Lynch Lindle, 68, of Sturgis passed away Jan. 2, 2000 at Methodist Hospital in Henderson.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Sturgis and was co-owner of Lindle Bros. Grocery Store.

Lindle is survived by her husband, Poss Lindle of Sturgis; a son, Rance Lindle of Sturgis; a sister, Jean Kennemore of Mayfield; two nieces; and a grandchild.

Services were held Jan. 5 at Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis. Burial was in Pythian Ridge.

Walker
Lewis Doug Walker, 78, of Kuttawa passed away Jan. 18, 2000 at his home.

Walker was a retired supervisor from Airco Alloys and Carbide in Calvert City. He was a member of Hebron Baptist Church. Walker served eight years in Guam and Panama in the United States Air Force as staff sergeant for the 498th bomb group. He received two bronze stars and the World War II Victory Medal.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Walker; five sons, Richard Walker of San Francisco, Calif., Kevin Walker of Eddyville, Stewart Walker of Kuttawa; Steve Wallace of Lakeland, Fla., Shannon Wallace of Lakeland; two brothers, Lois Walker of Lafayette, Colo., Linville Walker of St. Louis, Mo.; a sister, Zula Kinnis of Marion; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Walker was preceded in death by his first wife, Connie Walker; two brothers, William Walker and Robert Walker; three sisters, Imogene Floyd, Gladys Herrin and Elizabeth Wheeler; and by his parents, George and Cora Walker.

Dixon
Uriah "Jack" Dixon, 64, of Petersburg, Ind., formerly of Crittenden County, passed away Jan. 24, 2000 at his home.

Dixon was an Army Veteran. He was a member of Mission of Faith Church.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Barbara Pendley; a daughter, Kimberly Elder of Evansville; four sons, Phillip Dixon and Roger Dixon, both of Petersburg, Thomas Dixon of Winslow, Ind., and Mark Arnold of Evansville; a sister, Nellie Osborn of Evansville; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services will be held Jan. 27 at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel in Oakland City, Ind., with Revs. Don Myers and John Powell officiating. Burial will be in Cloin Cemetery.

Wring
William Wring, 68, of Interlachen, Fla., formerly of Marion, passed away Jan. 14, 2000 at his home.

Wring was a United States Army Veteran. He was a member of VFW Post #10164 in Interlachen. He was retired from U.S. Steel.

Wring is survived by his wife, Anna Wring, of Interlachen; a daughter, Cheryl Morgan of Gainesville, Fla.; four sons, William Wring, Jr., of Chesterton, Ind., Wade Wring of Palatka, Fla.; James Wring of Lake Butler, Fla.; Robert Wring of Virginia Beach, Va.; four sisters, Alois Gill of Paducah, Helen Black of Crown Point, Ind., Dot Vaughn of Paducah and Kay Coberly of Keokuk, Iowa; a brother, C.R. Wring, Jr., of Marion; 16 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A family memorial will take place at a later date.
