Edwin C. Fritts, 88, of Marion passed away Jan. 17, 2000 at Crittenden Hospital.
Fritts was a member of Crooked Creek Baptist Church. He was a World War II Veteran and served during the European Campaign in the 345th Signal Wing. He was also the owner of Fritts Trucking.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Evelyn Fritts of Marion; a daughter, Cindy Watson of Marion; three sons, Eddie Fritts and Ronnie Fritts, both of Marion and William Fritts of Evansville, Ind.; three brothers, Hollis Fritts of Daytona Beach, Fla., Kenneth Fritts of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Orlan Fritts of South Dakota; three grandchildren, Derek Fritts of Evansville, Jesse Fritts and Mary Watson, both of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.
Fritts was preceded in death by his parents, John and Maud Fritts.
Services will be held Thursday, Jan. 20 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Mapleview Cemetery. Military rites will be held at graveside.
King
Virginia Crider King, 88, of Maryville, Tenn., formerly of Marion passed away Jan. 12, 2000.
King was a member of the first Marion High School Championship girls' basketball team.
She is survived by three children; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Local survivors include Ruth Patmor, Miley Hill and A.T. Crider families.
King was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Maud Hill Crider. Mr. Crider was part owner of T.H. Cochran & Co. in Marion.
Weeks
Allie LeFan Weeks, 87, of Princeton, passed away Jan. 13, 2000 at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Weeks was a retired seamstress and was a retiree of the Cumberland Management Company. She was a member of Saratoga United Methodist Church in Lyon County.
She also served as a volunteer at Princeton Health Care Manor in Princeton for several years.
She is survived by three brothers, William LeFan of Louisville, Sanders LeFan of Marion and W.C. LeFan, Jr. of LaGrange; a sister, Dorothy Dyer of Basket; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Weeks was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Weeks; her parents, William and Bessie LeFan; and a brother, Robert LeFan.
Services were held Jan. 15 at Morgan's Funeral Home with Rev. Micky Lewis officiating. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
McDowell
Lilbert McDowell, 84, of Salem, passed away Jan. 11, 2000 at Salem Springlake Care Center.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Harris McDowell of Salem; two sons, Eddy "Ike" McDowell and Ricky McDowell, both of Fredonia; two sisters, Felta George of Omak, Wash., and Loma Boyd of Evansville, Ind.; a brother, Jay McDowell of Eureka, Mo.; a step-daughter, Loretta Millikan of Paducah; a step-son, Ben Harris of Nashville; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
McDowell was preceded in death by two sons, Don McDowell and Joe McDowell.
Services were held Jan. 14 at Boyd Funeral Chapel with Revs. Robert Phillips and
Tim Fouts officiating. Burial was in New Bethel Cemetery.
Wilkerson
Glenn Wilkerson, 30, of Marion passed away Jan. 4, 2000 in Paducah.
Wilkerson is survived by his father, Billy Wilkerson of Henderson; his parents, Kathy and Doug Williams of Marion; a sister Sarah Riley of Marion; a brother, Jeremy "Ko" Wilkerson of Marion; a half sister, Rebecca Wilkerson of Henderson; and his grandparents, Earl and Pauline Writtenberry of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carlton Wilkerson and Mary Lou Byrnes.
Services were held Jan. 7 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Loyd Harris and Jack Dodson officiating. Burial was in Freedom Cemetery.
Griffith
Graveside services for Thomas Griffith, 86, of Marion were held Jan. 8, 2000 at Love Cemetery with Rev. Herbert Alexander officiating.
Griffith passed away Jan. 6 at his home.
He was a member of the Tolu High School Basketball Team runners-up in the 1931 state championship. Griffith was also a retired farmer.
He is survived by two sisters, Nellie Lowery and Lois Waymire, both of Marion; a brother, George Griffith of Romolus, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.

Guess
James N. "Nick" Guess, 77 of Henderson, formerly of Princeton, passed away Jan. 8, 2000 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville.
Guess was a member of the First Baptist Church in Henderson, the Elks Lodge #206 in Henderson, retired from Kentucky Utilities Company, a Kentucky Colonel, and a Marine veteran of World War II having served on the U.S.S. Massachusetts.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Strong of Henderson; two sons, James Guess of Henderson and Robert Guess of Marion; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Guess.
Services were held Jan. 10 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Bill Patterson officiating. Graveside services were held at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Princeton with Dr. Darrell Clarke officiating.

Hodge
Thomas Hodge, 83, of East Moline, Ill., formerly of Marion passed away Dec. 12, 2000 at Illini Hospital in Silvis, Ill.
He was a welder at Hydraxtor Co., and Pave-Saver Co., in Moline. He served in the United States Navy.
Hodge is survived by three daughters, Kitty Rauch of Monticello, Carolyn DuBree of Elberta, Ala., and Sharon Hogard of LeClaire, Iowa; two sons, Earl Hodge of Las Vegas, Nev., and T. Randy Hodge of East Moline; two step sons, George LeMaster and Jack LeMaster of Hampton, Ill.; two sisters Ann Hodge and Dorothy Hodge, both of Marion; and a brother, Bill Hodge of Marion; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Services were held Dec. 15 at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Burial was in Rock Island National Cemetery.
Phillips
Mildred Phillips, 93, of Marion formerly of Venice, Fla., passed away Dec. 22, 2000 at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.
She is survived by a daughter, Donna Kay Duffy of Marion.
She was a member of Marion Baptist Church. She was also a member of Crown Court #23, Order of Amaranth, Lake Chapter #408, Order of the Eastern Star of Crown Point, Ind., Queen Christina Court #13, Order of the Amaranth of Paducah, Bethlehem Shrine #20, Rebekah Lodge #28 of Metropolis, Ill., AARP, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and White Shrine of Jerusalem in Marion.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Phillips.
Services were held Dec. 27 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Dr. Darrell Clarke officiating and Dec. 29 at Pruzin-Little Funeral Home in Crown Point, Ind., with Bro. David Meyers officiating. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery in Crown Point.
