Funeral services for Helen Bennett of Eddyville were held April 18, 2001 at Lakeland Funeral Chapel in Eddyville with Rev. Jerrell White and Rev. Jeff Devine officiating. Burial was in Glenns Chapel Cemetery in Lyon County.
Bennett passed away April 16 at Caldwell County Hospital.
She was a retired food service employee for the Lyon County School System and was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Lyon County.
Surviving are two sons, Charles Bennett of Lyon County and Johnny Bennett of Fairfield, Texas; seven daughters, Loraine Byars of Benton, Ethelyne Riley of Fredonia, Pat Smith of Hobart, Ind., Judy Cliff of Princeton, Mary Lucy Dycus of Chesterton, Ind., Linda Dyer of Kuttawa and Saundra White of Eddyville; a sister, Venita Adams of Princeton; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, E. Ray Bennett; two sisters, Virginia Croft and Ethelyn Wolfe; three brothers, Pete Parrish, George Parrish and J.V. "Dick" Parrish. Her parents were W.G. Parrish and Hayes Sexton Parrish.
Heater
Funeral services for Herchel Heater, 80, of Burna, were held Dec. 31, 2000 at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Brantley officiating.
Heater passed away Dec. 28, 2000 at Livingston Hospital.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Mary Lee Heater; a son, Herschel J. Heater of Elmhurst, Ill.; a daughter, Judy Lewis of Hodgenville; five grandchildren, Daniel Heater, Katherine Redding, David Heater, Zachary Lewis and Adam Lewis; and two great-grandchildren, Satya Heater and Spencer Redding.
His parents were Naubern Elisha and Maude Thomas Belcher Heater.

Meeks
Eugene Meeks, 76, of Marion, passed away Dec. 27, 2000 at Livingston Hospital. He was a charter member of Lighthouse Baptist Church, a World War II Army veteran; and a retired carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Meeks; three daughters, Patsy Locke, Louise Givens and Faye Binkley, all of Marion; two sons, Tommy Meeks of Marion and Dale Meeks of Sturgis; a sister, Wilma Driver of Eddyville; 17 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Buddy Meeks, and two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Dec. 30 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Crabtree and Rev. Eddie Boone officiating. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.
Lucas
Lawrence "Slats" Lucas, 75, of Marion, passed away Dec. 28, 2000 at Crittenden Hospital.
Lucas was a prominent businessman as an independent rock consultant in Israel for the construction of Negev Air Force Base, and was also a consultant in Oman, Bahamas and Kwajalein near Australia.
He was retired from Three Rivers Rock Quarry after working 20 years, and was also a retired farmer. He was co-owner of Lucas and Brown Excavating and owner of Lucas Trucking. He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Carla Lucas Hunley of Salem and Carol Lucas Martin of Morganton, N.C.; a son, Todd Lucas of Smithland; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, David Russell Lucas; a daughter, Lauren "Enie" Lucas; a brother, William Elmer Lucas; and a great-grandchild. His parents were Lawrence and Lattie Lucas.
Funeral services were held Dec. 31 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Mickey Quinton, Rev. John Conn and Bill Frazer officiating. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.
Fender
Karen Renee Fender, 41, of Marion, passed away Dec. 30, 2000 at Livingston Hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Fender of Marion; three daughters, Michelle Smith of Marion, Tina Rocks of Bullhead, Ariz., and Jullian Fender of Chicago, Ill.; a sister, Debbie O'Marrah of Marion; four brothers, Tommy Smith and Timmy Smith, both of Clay, Junior Smith of Marion and Roger Smith of Chicago, Ill.; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Smith.
Funeral services were held Jan. 2 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Downs and Don Hodge officiating. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.
Fritts
Mary Evelyn Fritts, 78, of Marion, passed away Jan. 2, 2001 at her home. She was a member of Crooked Creek Baptist Church and was Crittenden County Circuit Clerk for two terms.
Surviving are three sons, Ronnie Fritts and Eddie Fritts, both of Marion, and William Fritts of Evansville; a daughter, Cindy Watson of Marion; three grandchildren, Jesse Fritts and Mary Watson, both of Marion, and Derek Fritts of Evansville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin C. Fritts.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Jan. 5 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Mapleview Cemetery.
Goldman
Wilda Perry Goldman, 87, of Berryville, Va., passed away Dec. 14, 2000.
Goldman was born in Marion and later was employed as an accounting assistant in the U.S. Government Accounting Office in Washington, D.C.
Surviving are a niece and nephew and several other distant relatives in Crittenden County.
Funeral services were held in Berryville Dec. 18 with burial in Fairfax Memorial Park in Fairfax, Va.

Shuecraft
Allie J. Shuecraft, 74, of Salem, passed away Jan. 2, 2001 at Crittenden Hospital. Funeral services will be held Jan., 5 at Lola Pentecostal Church with Rev. Leo Roberson, Rev. Eddie Machan and Rev. Tim Fouts officiating. Burial will be in Lola Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Shuecraft of Salem; four daughters, Yolanda McDonald of Paducah, Wyetha Wood of Princeton, Marquita Miller of Bowling Green and Sonya Brantley of Salem; three sons, Denzil Shuecraft of Salem, Kevin Shuecraft of Marion and Wesley Shuecraft of Salem; three stepchildren, Dareen Johnston of Sharpe, Sharon Green of Mayfield and Steve McDonald of Murray; two sisters, Thelma McDowell and Sylvia Watson, both of Salem; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and five step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters, and his first wife Venita Lois Shuecraft. His parents were Odes and Nola Bateman Shuecraft.

Griffith
Beulah Briena Griffith, 91, of Marion, passed away Dec. 20, 2001 at Crittenden Hospital.
She is survived by a granddaughter, Cathy Harned of Paducah; a grandson, Gary Woodall of Wickliffe; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Grover Cleveland Smith and Raymond L. Griffith; a daughter, Virginia Woodall; two sisters, Ida Waldroup and Lena Sunderland; and a grandson.
Funeral services were held Dec. 22 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Darrell Clarke officiating. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.
