Charles Ray Stalions, 67, of Smithland, passed away July 8, 2001 at his home. He was a World War II veteran.
Surviving are two sons, Terry Stalions and Barry Stalions, both of Smithland; a daughter, Lynn Ann Stalions of Calvert City; a brother, David Stalions of Smithland; an uncle, Louis Faulkner of Smithland; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and May Faulkner Stalions; and one brother.
Funeral services were held July 10 at Boyd Funeral Home in Salem with Rev. Mike Snyder officiating. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery.

Oliver
Palestine "Tina" Oliver, 74, of Rockford, Ill., passed away July 9, 2001 at Rockford Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held July 13 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Thurman officiating. Burial will be in Mapleview Cemetery.
Oliver was born in Detroit, Mich. She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Marion.
Oliver is survived by her husband, Stanley "Hawk" Oliver; two sons, James Oliver and Bill Oliver of Machesney Park, Ill.; two daughters, Cheryl Gatena of Love Park, Ill., and Tamela Oliver of Rockford; a brother, Elvis James of Marion; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Tina and Stanley "Hawk" Oliver were honored in Marion July 4 for their efforts of planning and organizing the first Marion High School Reunion, held each year on July 4. Tina Oliver, who suffered a stroke and heart attack in May, was unable to make the trip with her husband. Marion Mayor Mick Alexander presented Hawk Oliver a key to the City of Marion, and a plaque recognizing the couple's efforts to start the annual reunion. It will hang in the Fohs Hall Memory Room, which contains hundreds of photos and other Marion High School memorabilia.
Tina Oliver was preceded in death by her parents, James and Beulah May James Moore.
Brooks
Funeral services for Douglas W. Brooks, 75, of Davenport, Iowa, were held July 11 at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport. Burial was in the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal.
Brooks passed away July 8, 2001 at Genesis Medical Center West in Davenport after an extended illness. Brooks was born in Salem, Ky. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the European Theatre in World War II. He was a machine operator for International Harvester until his retirement.
Survivors include his mother, Lena Belt of Marion; a daughter, Deborah Beard of Blue Grass Iowa; three sons, Stephen Brooks of Lake Zurich, Ill., Gregory Brooks and John Brooks, both of Davenport; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Donald Joyce of Henderson, Jimmy Joyce of Nashville and Glen Joyce of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie D. Pattison Brooks; and a daughter, Lori A. Tompkins. His parents were Wallace and Lena Bebout Brooks.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
Jackson
Raymond S. "Ray" Jackson, 68, of Hobart, Ind., passed away June 26, 2001 at his home. He was a Livingston County native who lived the last 44 years in Hobart.
Jackson served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, was retired from U.S. Steel, Gary Works as a motor inspector. He was a member of the Lake Station VFW No. 9323.
Surviving are his wife, Ann; two sons, Raymond Terry Jackson of Princeton, Minn., and Jody Jackson of Hobart; a daughter, Betty Dowdy of Hebron, Ind.; six grandchildren; three brothers, Alvie Jackson of Marion, Harold Jackson of Smyrna, Tenn., and Kenny Jackson of Marion; and a sister, Ina Talley of Portage, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Thelma Jackson; and a brother, Larry Jackson.
Funeral services were held June 29 at Rees Funeral Home in Hobart with Rev. Dave Felton officiating. Burial was in Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, Ind.
Underdown
William Edward Underdown, 69, of Marion, passed away June 29, 2001 from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident on Ky. 135 near Tolu.
Underdown was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include two sons, John Underdown of Hickman and Mike Underdown of Marion; three daughters, Thelma Atkinson, Linda Jackson and Cathy Vaughn, all of Elizabethtown, Ill.; a brother, Glen Underdown of Marion; a sister, Mildred Holbrook of Indianapolis; and eight grandchildren,
Funeral services were held July 2 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Sister Lucy Tedrick officiating. Burial will be in Underdown Cemetery.
Sharp
Graveside services for Ethel Mae Sharp, 84, of Carrsville, were held June 30, 2001 at Bethel Cemetery with Rev. J.T. Parish officiating.
Sharp, who was of the Pentecostal faith, passed away June 28 at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Calvert City.
Surviving are two daughters, Margie Byassee of Paducah and Barbara Tucker of Sharpe; a sister, Betty Lewis of Rosiclare, Ill; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Boyd Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Hunt
Ronnie Hunt, 54, of Marion, passed away July 2, 2001 at Crittenden County Convalescent Center.
Survivors include his parents, Donald and Wanda Lee Hunt of Marion; two brothers, Joe Hunt and Bernie Hunt, both of Marion; a sister, Janna Croft of Tolu; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held July 4 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Hunt officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Neal
Funeral services for Edna Neal, 98, of Marion, will be held at 1 p.m., July 5, 2001 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Elder Bill Hunt will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Neal, a member of Pleasant Hill Church, is survived by a nephew, Orlyn Hunt of Marion; and two nieces, Bonnie Bowman of Garden City, Mich., and Wilda Warren of Lansing, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Neal. Her parents were Levi and Martha Hunt Sigler.
Travis
William Lawrence Travis, 87, of Fredonia passed away July 4, 2001 at River Bend Care Center in Kuttawa.
He was a member of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church and United Mine Workers.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Travis of Fredonia; three brothers, Loya Travis and Vernon Travis, both of Fredonia and Carter Travis of Princeton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Mitchell Travis; and a son, Sharmon Lawrence Travis.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m., Friday, July 6 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 7 at Caldwell Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Willis McCracken officiating. Burial will be in Caldwell Springs Cemetery.

Elsie Lucille Campbell, 83, of Marion, passed away June 21, 2001 at Crittenden Hospital.
Survivors include three sons, Keith Owens and Harvey Owens of Wilton, Iowa and Bryant Hayes of Marion; a daughter, Sharon Young of Salem; two stepsons, Kenny Campbell of Marion and Robert Campbell of Maryland; a stepdaughter, Karla McKillip of Atalissa, Iowa; a sister, Darlene Carr of Mattoon, Ill.; more than 100 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Campbell, and one child.
Funeral services were held June 26 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Phillips officiating. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.
