Virginia Lucille Holsapple, 86, of Portage, Ind., passed away March 30, 2001. She was born in Frances.
Holsapple was employed by the Gary, Ind., school system for 27 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star Olive Chapter No. 396 and was affiliated with Portage First Assembly of God.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary O. Bridges of Portage; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Walter and Mary Frances Crow Brown; four brothers, William Dewey Brown, Eddie Cleo Brown, Herbert Crombwell Brown and Graves Brown; and a sister, Pecolia Odessa Brown.
Funeral services were held April 2 at Engel Funeral Home in Portage. Interment was in McCool Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Prime Timers of the First Assembly of God in Portage.
Martin
Virginia R. Martin, 83, formerly of Princeton, passed away March 27, 2001 at Bortz Health Care Center in Rose City, Mich.
She is survived by two nephews, William Dale Miller and Richard Wayne Miller of Tolu, and a sister-in-law, Helen Miller, also of Tolu.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Martin; and a brother, William F. Miller. Her parents were George and Addie Oliver Miller.
Graveside services were held April 2 at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Rev. Dean Ray officiating.
Gray
Funeral services for Glenwood Gray, 80, of Eddyville, were held April 3, 2001 at Lakeland Funeral Home in Eddyville. Burial was in Glenns Chapel Cemetery in Lyon County.
Gray was a self-employed farmer and a retired construction laborer for Union Local No. 1214 in Paducah. He was a World War II veteran, a member of Eddyville Church of Christ and member of Dycusburg Masonic Lodge No. 232.
Surviving are his wife, Lillie Marie Oliver Gray; three sons, Bill Gray of Lyon County, Dennis Gray of Florida and Rex Gray of Texas; 10 daughters, Martha Jones of Benton, Patsy Gray of Texas, Joy Bolinger of Bloomfield, Mich.; Bonnie Young of Marion; Sue Schroat of Walled Lake, Mich.; Paula Gray of Michigan, Norma Miller of Grand Rapids, Mich.; Sharon Gray of Walled Lake, Mich.; Betty Calderon of Canton, Mich.; and Dorothy Mytych of Westland, Mich.; three sisters, Lucille Brasher of Gary, Ind., Ella Mae Doom of Benton and Janet Conway of Flint, Mich.; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Gray was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Glenn Gray; a sister, Willie Glenn; and his parents James William and Rocky Lee Soden Gray.
James
Ora Rhea James, 97, of Marion, passed away April 1, 2001 at Salem Springlake Care Center.
Surviving are two grandchildren, Larry Debeau of Siginaw, Mich., and Lisa York of Marion; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie James; three children, Trice James, Jean Debeau and Lois James. Her parents were Joseph and Mintie Jane Slayton.
Funeral services were held at Gilbert Funeral Home April 4 with Rev. Robert Phillips officiating. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.
Woodside
Funeral services for Verble Mae Woodside, 89, of Marion, were held March 24, 2001 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Phillips and Rev. David Winders officiated. Burial was in Sugar Grove Cemetery.
Woodside passed away April 22 at Crittenden County Convalescent Center. She was a member of Cave Springs General Baptist Church.
Surviving are a brother, Roy Hazzard of Marion; a niece; and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bethel Woodside; and a brother, L.C. Hazzard.
King
Jewell A. King, 81, of Rosiclare, Ill., passed away March 31, 2001 at Western Baptist Hospital.
He was a member of Firs Apostolic Church in Rosiclare, he was a mason for 58 years and was a member of the Rosiclare Memorial Public Library.
Surviving are a son, Corwin King of Metropolis; a step-daughter, Dianna Sue Palmer of Rosiclare; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Irby King; his second wife, Marie Livers King; an infant son, Leon King; a brother, Wallace King; and two sisters, Clyde Cowsert Clemmons and Adley Cowsert. His parents were Bill King and Cordy Millikan King.
Funeral services were held April 4 at Cox Funeral Home in Rosiclare with Rev. Gene Cowsert and Rev. Glen Hicks officiating. Burial was in Fluorine Cemetery in Rosiclare.
Hunt
Lois Hunt, 81, of Marion, passed away April 2, 2001 at Crittenden Hospital. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Regular Baptist Church and was retired from the Ben Franklin Store after 33 years of service.
Surviving are her husband, Tim Hunt of Marion; two brothers, Robert Wayne Hunt and Donald Hunt, also of Marion.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., April 5 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Cortis Hill officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Matthews
David Matthews, 51, of Wanda, Ill., originally of Crittenden County, passed away March 15, 2001. Funeral services were held March 17 at Peace Free Will Baptist Church in Granite City, Ill. Burial was in Wanda Cemetery in Wanda, Ill.
Matthews served in the U.S. Army and retired after 32 years at Granite City Steel.
He is survived by his wife, Gail, of Wanda; two daughters, Jessica Lewis and Melissa Gibbs, both of Wanda; two grandchildren; his mother, Maxine Matthews of Marion; three sisters, Frances Holloman of Caldwell County, Patricia Szarks of Jewatt City, Conn., and Cindy Smith of Marion; five brothers, Charles Matthews of Marion, Howard Matthews of Livingston County, and Jerry Matthews of Caldwell County, Jeff Matthews and Tim Matthews, both of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his father, Laymon Matthews; and a sister, Sheila Matthews.
Woodside
Verble Mae Woodside, 89, of Marion, passed away March 22, 2001 at Crittenden County Convalescent Center. She was a member of Cave Springs General Baptist Church.
Survivors include her brother, Roy Hazzard of Marion; a niece, Pearl Swift of Eddyville; and two nephews, Franklin Hazzard of Princeton and Eddie Hazzard of Madisonville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bethel Woodside; and a brother, L.C. Hazzard.
Funeral services were held March 24 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Phillips and Rev. David Winders officiating. Burial was in Sugar Grove Cemetery.
Crowell
Clinton D. Crowell, 72, of Crayne, passed away March 26, 2001 at Western Baptist Hospital at Paducah. He was a retired railroad conductor for Conrail in Detroit, Mich. He was an active member of Cyrus Lodge in Detroit, a past pastor of Bigham Lodge in Marion, a Kentucky Colonel, Worthy Patron of Marion Chapter No. 135 of Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving are his wife, LaVera Crowell of Crayne; two sons, Richard Crowell and Douglas Crowell of Ft. Ogelthorpe, Ga.; two daughters, Tina Woody and Robin Mahan, both of Ft. Ogelthorpe; two stepdaughters, Carol Geiger of Milford, Mich. and Lynn Pederson of Northville, Mich.; a stepson, Jim Smith of Breighton, Mich.; a sister, Anita Holland of Eureka, Mo.; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother. His parents were Anna and Bonnie Crowell.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., March 29 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Phillips and Rev. Mike Morris officiating. Burial will be in Crayne Cemetery.
