J.C. Turner, 80, of Hampton, passed away Jan. 23, 2001 at Salem Springlake Care Center. Funeral services were held Jan. 26 at Smith Funeral Home in Smithland. Rev. Mike Snyder officiated. Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery.
He was a veteran of World War II.
Surviving are a son, Dickie Joe Turner of Utica; a daughter, Vickie Lasher of Hampton; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Waddy Turner.
DeBoe
John Ed DeBoe, 66, of Jackson, Mich., passed away Jan. 24, 2001.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce; a son, Doug DeBoe of Texas; a daughter, Sabrinia Brown of Michigan; and a stepson, Mike Donahue of Michigan; a sister, Pauline Lee of Eddyville; three brothers, Kenneth DeBoe of Gary, Ind., Donald DeBoe of Marion and Robert DeBoe of Marion; five half-sisters, Carrie McClure of Marion; Phyllis Risner of Marion; Gerlene Warsow of Hillman, Mich., Sue Williams of Marion, Jeriene Walker of Marion; four half-brothers, Phillip Rorer of McKenzie, Tenn., Larry DeBoe of Marion; Paul DeBoe of Marion and Doug Rorer of St. Louis.
He was preceded in death by a stepson, Kevin Donahue, and his parents, Ruth Gilland Rorer and Paul Preston DeBoe of Marion.
Black
Funeral services for Robert Black Jr., were held Jan. 30 at Vanover Funeral Home in Clay with Bro. Robert Phillips and Bro. Wilbur Collins officiating. Burial was in Black Grove Cemetery near Blackford.
Black, 73, passed away Jan. 27, 2001 at Crittenden Hospital. He was a truck driver, member of Sullivan VFW Post No. 5486, a member of Blackford Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War.
Survivors include five daughters, Paula Samuel of Marion, Janie Jeffrey of Fredonia, Julie Blackburn, Lori Shelton and Clara Vanover, all of Clay; a son, Anthony Black of Marion; six sisters, Willie Mae West and Mary "Tootsie" Wilson, both of Henderson, Emma Hinton, Joy Oldham, Mattie Sigler and Louise McKeehan, all of Clay; a brother, Prentice Stone of Corydon; 18 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Lee Black.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Newcom
Danny Newcom, 57, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., formerly of Marion, passed away Jan. 27, 2001 at the VA Hospital in Murfreesboro.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Sturgis.
Survivors include his mother, Katherine Newcom of Benton; two sons, Chad Newcom and Shanahan Newcom, both of Paducah; a sister, Verna L. York of Benton; a brother, Edwin Newcom of Sturgis; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ross Newcom.
Funeral services were held Jan. 29 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Don Wilson officiating. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.
Hall
Donald R. Hall, 62, of Pacific, Mo., passed away in Trenton, Mo., Jan. 20, 2001. He was retired from Chrysler Corp.
Surviving are his wife Angela; a daughter, Jane Hicks of Chester, Ill.; his mother, Loretta Martin of Blackford; a brother, John Alan of Arnold, Mo.; and a sister, Betty S. Gray of Blackford; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard; and a brother, Tommy.
Funeral services and burial were held in Pacific, Mo.
Redd
Funeral services for Arnold Paul Redd, 64, of Salem, were held Jan. 13, 2001 at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. A.C. Hodge officiating.
Burial was in White's Chapel Cemetery. Redd passed away Jan. 10, 2001 at Livingston Hospital.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Shirley Croft Redd of Salem; three sons, James Redd of Henderson, Robert Redd of Chandler, Ind., Michael Redd of Gary, Ind.; three daughters, Cherylon Mays of Gary, Ind., Belinda Jennings of Burna, Anita Ralph of Orleans, Ind.; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen Underdown and Carolyn Travis, both of Marion.
Redd was preceded in death by a brother. His parents were Wilburn and Bertie Wesmoland Redd.
Moore
Funeral services for Robbie Moore, 80, of Marion, were held Jan. 14 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Sivells and Rev. John Benton officiating.
Moore passed away Jan. 11, 2001 at Livingston Hospital. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Princeton. Burial was in Deer Creek Cemetery.
Surviving are a daughter, Janet Dugan of Marion; two sisters, Alma Collins of Chicago and Neta McPherson of Clarinda, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lafe and Gertrude Hill; a sister, Imogene Hurst; and two brothers, Tom Hill and Bobby Hill.
Pallbearers were Terry Hill, Kenny Hill, Adam Hill, Larry Hurst, Jerry Hurst and Ricky Hill.
Davis
Lou Dawn Travis Davis, 42, of Dawson Springs, passed away Jan. 17, 2001 in a car accident in Hopkinsville. She was a nurse's aide at the National Healthcare Nursing Home. She attended Midway Pentecostal Church in Caldwell County.
Surviving are her husband, Larry Davis; a daughter, Kim Sullivan of Dawson Springs; two sons, Justin and Chris Beavers, both of Dawson Springs; a stepdaughter, Telisa Davis of Dawson Springs; her mother, Ada Slaton of Sturgis; six sisters, Marilyn Goben of Sturgis, Greta Ridings of Paducah, Patricia Roberts of Mount Vernon, Ind.;, Helen Redd of Indianapolis, Linda Foster of Evansville and Judy Adams of Dawson Springs; a brother, Henry Travis of St. Charles; a half-brother, Newman Travis of Marion; four half-sisters, Shirley Byford of Marion, Ernestien Scott of Hobart, Ind., Billie Ryan of Princeton and Betty Jane Garner of Augusta, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gobel Travis; two sisters and two half-brothers.
Services were held Jan. 20 at Beshear Funeral Home with burial in Ilsley Cemetery.
Rushing
Funeral services for Clara Rushing, 89, of Marion, were held Jan. 22 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Phillips officiating. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.
Rushing passed away Jan. 20, 2001 at Salem Springlake Care Center. She was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Mary Boone of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lacy Rushing; her parents, Carloss and Tennie Vinson Belt; a sister and two brothers.
Conway
Elizabeth Helen Conway, 75, of Marion, passed away Jan. 18, 2001 at her home. She was a member of St. William Catholic Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Spragg of Cleveland, Ohio and Mary Sturm of Ledbetter; a grandson, Matthew Smith of Memphis; two granddaughters, Melody Harrison of Omaha, Neb., and Tracie Sturm of Ledbetter; two great-grandchildren, Quinn and Reagan Smith of Memphis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Barbara Remias; her husband, Ralph Conway; three sisters, Pearl Bumba, Helen Remias and Anna Remias.
Funeral services were held Jan. 21 at St. William Catholic Church with Father Dan Kreutzer officiating. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Matthew smith, Wayne Spragg, Kyle Harrison, Larry Smith, Michael Nelson and Larry Hurst.
