Kentucky Marriage Records by County

Lockheart

Ruth Lockheart, 85, of Salem, passed away Nov. 28, 2002 at Livingston Hospital.

She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church and the Salem Birthday Club.

Mrs. Lockheart is survived by a daughter, Suzanne Weaver of Hampton; four grandchildren, Debbie Radcliffe Stigall of Gilbertsville, Michael Radcliff of Calvert City, Heather Weaver McDowell and Ryan Weaver, both of Hampton; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Monette Radcliffe; second husband, Perce Ryan Lockheart; one son, Jim Radcliffe; a brother and three sisters.

Her parents were Richard and Susan E. Richarson Vaughn.

Memorial service was Dec. 2 at Boyd Funeral Chapel in Salem with the Rev. E.J. Hatton officiating. Burial was in Old Salem Cemetery.

Robertson

William Denver Robertson, 83, of Marion, passed away Nov. 29, 2002 at Crittenden Hospital.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Robertson was retired from Whirlpool. He attended Vann Ave. Baptist Church in Evansville, Ind.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Inez Robertson of Marion; two sisters, Bobbie McHone of Cross, S.C., and Irene Clark of Blackford; and one brother, Robert Robertson of Sturgis.

Services were Dec. 2 at Vanover Funeral Home in Clay, with burial at Shady Grove Cemetery in Shady Grove. The Rev. Robert Nall officiated.

McDowell

Douglas Glenn McDowell, 67, of Marion, passed away Dec. 1, 2002 at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.

A U.S. Army veteran, he is survived by his wife, Betty McDowell of Marion; three sons, Mike, Steven and David McDowell, all of Marion; five daughters, Patricia Terrell of Eddyville, Laura Madden of Henderson, Cheryl Griffin of Lawton, Okla., Kathy Gray of Princeton, Bettina Damron of Marion; a sister, Lois Dorroh of Eddyville; two brothers, Eddie and Jim McDowell, both of Marion; and seven grandchildren.

His parents were Ernest and Izella McDowell. He was also preceded in death by an infant child.

The funeral was Dec. 4 at Gilbert Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Phillips officiating. Burial with veteran's rites was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Babb

Mary B. Babb, 92, of Marion, passed away Nov. 27, 2002 at Crittenden County Convalescent Center.

She was of the Baptist faith.

Mrs. Babb was preceded in death by her first husband, Clay Jennings; second husband, James N. Babb; two daughters, Edna Travis Thurmond and Betty Dunbar; and a son, Jimmy Jennings.

Her parents were James Henry Hackney and Sadie Elmer White.

Survivors include her daughter, Sue Belt of Marion; two stepdaughters, Anna Speaks of Kirksville, Mo., and Wanda McVay of Henderson; one son, Ronnie Babb of Elizabethtown; three sisters, Edith Harper of Madisonville, Bobbie Jean Jones of St. Charles and Bonnie Montgomery of Clay; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and 26 great-great-grandchildren.

Services were Dec. 1 at Melton Funeral Home in Providence with the Rev. Robert Phillips officiating. Burial was in Hopewell Cemetery.

Blackburn

PRINCETON ­ Lawrence "Pop" Blackburn, 82, of Fredonia, passed away Dec. 1, 2002 at Princeton Health Care Manor.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a retired heavy equipment operator and a member of Fredonia Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Clarena Morgan Blackburn; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Gail Blackburn of Princeton and Steve and Mindy Blackburn of Eddyville; daughters and sons-in-law, Faye and Buzzy Phelps and Cindy and Roy Rogers, all of Fredonia, and Renee and Aubry Hollamon of Marion; two brothers, Jim Blackburn of Princeton and John Blackburn of Fredonia; four stepgrandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

His parents were Kell and Pearl Riley Blackburn. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Marc Blackburn, and a sister, Frances Tackwell.

Services were Dec. 3 at Morgan's Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Carlton and the Rev. Buddy Pope officiating. Burial was in Asher Cemetery in Caldwell County.

Hunt

Mary O. Hunt, 87, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002 at Crittenden County Convalescent Center.

A member of Sugar Grove Presbyterian Church, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Hunt, and a daughter, Imogene Vinson.

Survivors include two daughters, Martha Keeling and Maudie Summers, both of Marion; a son, Elbert Wayne Hunt of Sturgis; a sister, Annie Corley of Louisville; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

Funeral service is 2 p.m. Thursday (today) at Gilbert Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank McCallum and the Rev. Robert Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Pleasant Hill Road, Marion, KY 42064, or Sugar Grove Cemetery, SR 120, Marion, KY 42064.

Hurse

EVANSVILLE, Ind. ­ Oakley Hurse, 72, passed away Nov. 22, 2002 at his residence. He was born in Marion and retired from Whirlpool Corp. in 1990 after 43 years of service. He was most recently employed by Hertz Rental Car Company.

An Army veteran of the Korean War, he received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He is survived by four daughters, Linda Camacho of Gulfport, Miss., Carolyn Wolf of Evansville, Anna Louise Johnson of Richland, Ind., Shirley Klem of Evansville; a son, Charles Ashley of Elberfeld, Ind.; two brothers, Frank Hunt of Evansville, Thomas Hunt of Louisville; 17 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Ruth Hurse, and a son, Harvey Ed Ashley.

Services were Nov. 27 at Browning Funeral Home in Evansville. Burial was in Locust Hill Cemetery.

Brown

Lena O. Brown, 85, of Marion, passed away Nov. 13 at Salem Springlake Care Center. Funeral services were Nov. 16 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Phillips officiating. Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery.

Survivors include three nephews, Herman Barton of Marion, Wayne Barton of Phoenix, Ariz., Chris Sauls of Texas; and three nieces, Joyce Vincent and Virginia Woods of Madisonville and Jean Beard of Colorado.

Tinsley

Funeral services for Caleb Tinsley, 6, of Marion, were held Nov. 27 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Rev. Harold Rittenberry and Rev. Nicky Davis officiated. Burial was in Whites Chapel Cemetery.

Tinsley passed away Nov. 24, 2002 at Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville.

He is survived by his father, Wesley "Pat" Tinsley of Marion; his stepmother, Glenda Tinsley of Marion; grandparents, William and Carolyn Sue Sunderland of Marion and Ruby Tinsley of Tolu; stepgrandparents, Dewey and Connie Cowan of Marion; stepsisters, Bridgette Cowan and Brittany Cowan, both of Marion; and a stepbrother, Cody Cowan of Marion.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Denise Tinsley; and a grandfather, Bill Tinsley.
