Funeral services for Arlene Melton, 79, of Marion, were Nov. 20, 2002 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Bro. Robert Phillips officiated.
Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Holloman of Marion and Tommye Brantley of Marion; a son, Everett Melton of Marion; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Melton; her parents; a brother; and a sister.
Croft
Ruby S. Croft, 95, of Marion, passed away Nov. 11, 2002 at Salem Springlake Care Center. She was a member of Liberty Grove Christian Church and Matlock Memorial Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Helen Robinson of Marion; two sons, Harold Keith Croft of Marion and Franklin G. Croft of Evansville; a brother, Marvin Singleton of Salem; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and 18 step grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy J. Croft; and a son, Neil Croft. Her parents were Frank and Eula Belt Singleton.
Funeral services were held Nov. 14 at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. Norman Phillips and Bro. Robert Phillips officiating. Burial was in Whites Chapel Cemetery.
Moore
James D. Moore, 67, of Marion, passed away Nov. 26, 2002 at his home. He was a member of Hurricane Church, was caretaker of Hurricane Cemetery, was a member of Hurricane Camp Board and Bigham Lodge No. 256.
Surviving are his wife, Polly Moore of Marion; a son, Jackie Moore of Marion; a daughter, Jennifer Doom of Smithland; a sister, Karen Ordway of Marion; a brother, Bill Moore of Draffenville; and one grandson.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Gail Moore; and his parents, Douglas and Lucille Moore.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Nov. 29 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Porter and Rev.
Tony Alexander officiating. Burial will be in Hurricane Cemetery.

Woodson
Dorothy Rose Woodson, 79, of Marion, passed away Nov. 19, 2002 at Livingston Hospital. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Greenville.
Surviving are four daughters, Rose Ann Fetzer of Jefferson City, Tenn., Nancy Hazzard of Princeton, Betty Brown of Marion and Barbara Wolford of Owensboro; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Hylan Hale Woodson, Jr.; her parents, Elmer Lee and Margaret Mae Reagan; and six brothers.
Private services will be held at a later date with burial in New Bethel Cemetery.

Wood
Glenn Brown Wood, 82, of Crittenden County, formerly of Clay, passed away Nov. 17, 2002 at his home. He was retired from Southern States Co-op and was service manager at the Clay branch. He was a member and elder of Oak Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was a charter member of Webster County Genealogy and Historical Society. He was a charter member of the board of directors of the organization of the Shady Grove Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a Kentucky Colonel.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Atwell Wood; a daughter, Bridget Hasler of Tuscola, Ill.; a son, Bruce Wood of Byron, Ga.; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Nov. 20 at Oak Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Clay with Rev. Dale Williams officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Vick
STURGIS, Ky. Haline Vick, 89, passed away Nov. 17, 2002 at Colonial Trace Nursing Home in Sebree. She was a member of Sullivan Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Nov. 20 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. B.H. Spurrier and Rev. Charles Brantley officiating. Burial was in Rosebud Cemetery.
Surviving are a son, Billy Vick of Sturgis; a stepdaughter, Jean Shelton Kerney of Evansville; a stepson, Ray Shelton of Evansville; two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Vick; a son, Marlin Vick; three brothers and three sisters.

Gerding
CARRSVILLE, Ky. Dean Gerding, 41, passed away Nov. 9, 2002 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Gerding was critically injured after his motorcycle hit a deer on Ky. 135 near Carrsville Oct. 31.
Gerding was a member of Carrsville Baptist Church, served in the U.S. Navy, was a Boy Scout leader for eight years, and spent 13 years with the Department of Transportation as a motor vehicle inspector.
Surviving are his wife, Sherry Gerding of Carrsville; a son, Hayden Gerding of Carrsville; a daughter, Teresa Gerding of Carrsville; his mother, Dorothy Gerding of Carrsville; and a sister, Deana Gerding, also of Carrsville.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hayden Gerding; and a son, Carl Hayden Gerding.
Funeral services were held Nov. 13 at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. Virgil Dial and Rev. Keith Cox officiating. Burial was in Carrsville Cemetery.
Chandler
Carolyn Robinson-Chandler, 50, of Marion, passed away Nov. 9, 2002 at her home. She was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are a daughter, Christy Moss of Marion; two brothers, Burnice Kirk of Marion and Paul Kirk of Morganfield; two sisters, Paula Coleman of Marion and Linda Lynch of Tilene; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, G.B. and Virginia Kirk; a son, Billy Roy Chandler; and two brothers, George Don Kirk and James Robert Kirk.
Funeral services were held Nov. 12 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Phillips officiating.
Carroll
SMITHLAND, Ky. Betty Joan Carroll, 69, passed away Nov. 9, 2002 at Western Baptist Hospital. She was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving are two sons, John B. Hendricks of Smithland and Michael A. Hendricks of Calvert City; a daughter, Connie Jean Dickerson of Critttenden, Ky.; two sisters, Gene Zaborowski and Elvin Ramirez of Louisville; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hayden A. Alsobrook and Carrie Boswell Alsobrook; and two husbands, John Hendricks and Bobby Carroll.
Funeral services were held Nov. 12 at Boyd Funeral Home with burial in Hampton Cemetery.
