Funeral services for Ronald J. Janus, 63, of Marion, formerly of northern Indiana, were held Nov. 12 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Rev. Mickey Quinton and Rev. Tim Fouts officiated. Burial was in Crayne Cemetery.
Janus passed away Nov. 8, 2002 at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah. He was a member of Life In Christ Church, the National Rifle Association, was former owner of Mobile Home Furnace and Supply and Shady Side Mobile Home Court in Indiana. He was a member of the Indiana Home Association.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Dorothy Janus of Marion; a son, John Raymond Janus of Marion; three daughters, Jayne Bey of Portage, Ind., June Smith of Portage and Joyce Janus-Beauregard of Georgetown, S.C.; a brother, Paul J. Janus of Indiana; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Jeffrey
SALEM, Ky. Wayne Jeffrey, 87, passed away Nov. 7, 2002 at Crittenden County Convalescent Center. He was a member of Ohio Valley Baptist Church in Ledbetter. He was a farmer and building contractor.
Surviving are his wife, Marba Louise Birdsong Jeffrey; a son, L.W. "Jeff" Jeffrey of Goodlettsville, Tenn.; two brothers, Mizell Jeffrey of Mayfield and Rex Jeffrey of Florida; two sisters, Mary Lou Jeffrey of St. Louis; and Nella Johnson of Paducah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eunice Jeffrey and Mable Clare Mizell Jeffrey.
Graveside services were held Nov. 10 at Oak Grove Cemetery with Paul Hancock, G.W. Birdsong and Eddie Osborne officiating. Boyd Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Roberts
Mary Roberts, 75, of Marion passed away Nov. 7, 2002 at Crittenden Hospital. She was a member of the Eastern Star, White Shrine, Republican Women's Club and Repton Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard "Jim" Roberts of Marion; a son, Harlan Roberts of Henderson; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Her parents were Allen and Elvie Harper.
Funeral services were held Nov. 9 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Brown and Rev. Robert Phillips officiating. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery.
Oliver
ROCKFORD, Ill. James Stanley "Ollie" Oliver, 55, passed away Nov. 3, 2002 at his home. He was born in Marion.
He is survived by his wife, Janie Oliver; a daughter, Julie Wright; two sons, Jeff Oliver and Mike Oliver, all of Rockford; his father, Stanley "Hawk" Oliver of Rockford; two sisters, Cheryl Gatena and Tamela Oliver, both of Rockford; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Palestine "Tina" Oliver; and a brother, Billy Bruce Oliver.
Funeral services were held Nov. 7 at Sunset Funeral Home in Rockford with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Shelley
PRINCETON, Ky. Funeral services for Bill Shelley, 77, were held Nov. 5 at Morgan's Funeral Home with Rev. Rodney Wallace officiating.
Shelley passed away Nov. 3, 2002 at Princeton Health Care Manor.
He was a retired truck driver for Riley Tucking Co., and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Princeton.
He is survived by two daughters, Doris Belcher of Princeton and Dee Ross of Richmond, Mo.; two sons, William F. Shelley of Doniphan, Mo., and Kenneth Shelley of Marion; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Annabelle Shelley. His parents were William Riley Shelley and Jane Harris Shelley.
Adams
SALEM, Ky. Kenneth William Adams, 62, passed away Oct. 28, 2002 at his home. He was a member of Faith Pentecostal Tabernacle Church in Salem and was on the board of directors of Hurricane Campground.
Surviving are his former wife of 33 years, Peggy Adams; five daughters, Anita R. Johnson of Loraine, Ohio, B. Michelle Matney of Mavisdale, Va., Camille G. Adams of Loraine, Heather Tawes of Ledbetter and Kendra Adams of Salem; a brother, Terry Adams of Salem; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Genell Maxfield, Wanda May and Charlene Adams; and one grandchild. His parents were William Odell Adams and Bonnie Kathryn Bealmar Adams.
Funeral services were held Nov. 1 at Boyd Funeral Home with Bro. Phillip Sanders officiating. Burial was in Lola Cemetery.
Peal
GRAND RIVERS, Ky. Ida Peal, 97, passed away Nov. 4, 2002 at Calvert City Convalescent Center. She was a retired employee of the Iron Kettle, the Pelican and the Diamond restaurants and was an 81-year member of Pisga United Methodist Church in Lake City.
Surviving are two sons, Stanley Peal of Paducah and Lindel Peal of Calvert City; two daughters, Celesta Wilson of Paducah and Mary Forsythe of Lake City; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Birttrum Peal; eight brothers, Dewey Watkins, Richard Watkins, Allie Bryant Watkins, Ernest Watkins, Elvis Watkins, Homer Watkins, Barkley Watkins and Harvel Watkins; and a granddaughter, Donna Forsythe. Her parents were James Albert Watkins and Nancy Elizabeth Calhoun Watkins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Nov. 7 at Lakeland Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Branson, Rev. Roger Rice and Rev. Bob Hughes officiating.

Burr
Marjory Burr, 81, of Marion, passed away Oct. 25, 2002 at Caldwell County Hospital. Funeral services were held Oct. 28 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Dr. Darrell Clarke officiating. Burial was in Rowland Cemetery in Caldwell County.
She is survived by two nieces and three nephews.
Carter
Lawrence M. Carter, 83, of Marion, passed away Oct. 29, 2002 at his home.
He is survived by a brother, Rev. Thea O. Carter of Pineville, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Elizabeth Carter.
Funeral services were held Oct. 31 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Phillips and Rev. Frank McCallum officiating. He was buried in Shady Grove Cemetery.
Hill
Funeral Services for Dorothy Dorroh Hill, 78, of Marion, were Oct. 26, 2002 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Rev. Jack Dodson officiated with burial in Mapleview Cemetery.
Hill passed away Oct. 24 at Crittenden Hospital.
She was a member and organist of Piney fork Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Rev. Cortis E. Hill; two sons, Gary Hill of Henderson and Richard Hill of Marion; a daughter, Bonnie Matherly of Hopkinsville; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Iva Dorroh; and a sister, Norma Jean Dorroh.
