Arden

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Clifford K. Arden, 85, passed away Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002 at St. Mary's Riverside Continuing Care Center.

Arden was a 50-year charter member of Teamsters Local Union No. 215 where he was president from 1956-1987. During his tenure with Local 215, the membership grew from 1,500 to a high of 6,000 members. He was a valuable part of politics at the local and state level. Arden negotiated the first contract with the City of Evansville and organized the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation maintenance and custodian departments.

He played a major role in organizing several other Teamsters. He also served as Secretary Treasurer of the Joint Council 69 and the Indiana Conference of Teamsters.

The Evansville Teamsters building is known as the Cliff Arden Building on September of 1993.

He served on the Ivy Tech Board and the Evansville Airport Authority Board. He was a member of the Evansville Kennel Club and a licensed pilot. He was the owner of the former Cafe Venice, located in Downtown Evansville.

Arden was a World War II Veteran, where he served as a Master Sergeant in the Army. He was a member of the Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alfreeda Croft Arden. He is also survived by the several nieces and nephews and several grand nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Arden.

Funeral services were held Aug. 26, 2002 at Browning Funeral Home in Evansville with Rev. Robert Vester officiating. Entombment followed in Oak Hill Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Teeters

KUTTAWA - Francine Teeters, 42, passed away Aug. 29, 2002 at her home. She was the Environmental Program Supervisor for the Pennyrile District Health Department which serves Lyon, Caldwell, Crittenden, Trigg and Livingston counties. She was of Baptist Faith.

Surviving are a daughter, Jasmine Tifarah Teeters of Kuttawa; a son, J.J. Teeters of Kuttawa; her mother, Bonnie Lou Wallace Wilkinson of Kuttawa; four brothers, Thomas Wilkinson, Allen Wilkinson and Raymond Wilkinson of Forrest City, Ark., and Eddie Wilkinson of Paducah; two foster sisters, Ben Iba Cruz of Lexington and Alice Medina of Glencoe, Minn.; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Patrick Taylor Wilkinson.

Funeral services were held Aug. 31 at Lakeland Funeral Home in Eddyville with Rev. John Hagan officiating. Burial was in Chestnut Oak Cemetery in Lyon County.

Moreland

PRINCETON - Daisy Moreland, 81, passed away Aug. 29, 2002 at Princeton Health Care Manor. Funeral services were held Aug. 31 at Morgan's Funeral Home with Rev. Don Phelps and Rev. Joe Carrico officiating. Burial was in Highland Park Cemetery in Mayfield.

Surviving are a son, James Moreland of Caldwell County; a daughter, Ann Phelps of Union County; a sister, Lucille Melton of Murray; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild..

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. James Moreland, Sr.; a sister, Georgie Gore; and her parents, Noah and Lucy Tidwell Holland.

Chittenden

BURNA, Ky. - Marjorie Chittenden, 80, passed away Sept. 3, 2002 at Livingston Hospital. She was a member of Burna Missionary Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Paulette Greer of Burna; a brother, Bobby Quertermous of Symson, Ill.; two grandsons of Hampton; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ludie and Mable Quertermous; a sister; and a brother.

Funeral services will be held Sept. 5 at Boyd Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Wring officiating. burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery in Hampton.

Wakefield

MESQUITE, Texas - Funeral services for Christopher Jason Keel Wakefield, 20, were held Aug. 31 in Mesquite. He passed away Aug. 25, 2002.

Wakefield was an airline maintenance technician and veterinarian's assistant. He recently graduated from airline maintenance technical school.

Wakefield is survived by his parents, Jim Wakefield, formerly of Marion, and Peggy Wakefield; a sister, Brittany Wakefield of Mesquite; a grandmother, Mary Keel of Alamogordo, NM: and several aunts and uncles.

Memorial contributions may be made to Transplant Service center, 5323 Harry Hines Blvd., MC 9074, Dallas, Texas 75390-9074.

Clark

STURGIS, Ky. - Milborn Clark, 94, passed away Aug. 27, 2002 at his home. He was a barber and member of the Masonic Lodge in Wheatcroft for many years.

Surviving are a daughter, June Coker of Sturgis; a son, Larry Clark of Sullivan; a brother, Raymond Clark of Marion; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Clark; and a son, William Clark.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Aug. 29 at Rosebud Cemetery with Bro. Robert Phillips officiating.

Trout

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Rudolph "Rudy" Trout, Jr., 55, of Clarksville, Tenn., passed away Aug. 25, 2002 at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Aug. 31 at McReynolds-Nave Larson Chapel in Clarksville.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and member of Living Stone Ministries.

Surviving are his wife, Jane Alvis Trout, formerly of Marion; his father, Rudolph Trout, Sr., of Gaylord, Minn.; his stepmother, Carol Trout of Gaylord; two sons, Jesse A. Trout of Clarksville and Wayne R. Trout of New Jersey; two daughters, Mary Trout Chambers of Clarksville and Tony Trout of Texas; two sisters, Dorene Trout of Mankato, Minn., and Melissa Trout of Gaylord; and one granddaughter.

Phillips

Brownie A. Phillips, 86, of Marion, passed away Aug. 25, 2002 at Crittenden Hospital. He was a member and deacon of Marion Baptist Church; a member of the Marion Rotary Club; former Marion mayor and city council member; and a member of Bigham Lodge.

He is survived by a son, Robert A. Phillips of Marion; a daughter, Jeanne Nunn of Henderson; two sisters, Isabelle Vaughn of Marion and Frances Maginn of Upland, Colo.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Deedie Phillips; a brother, Robert Phillips; and his parents, Mable and Thomas Phillips.

Funeral services were held Aug. 28 at Gilbert Funeral Home with Dr. Darrell Clarke officiating. Burial was in Mapleview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Marion Baptist Church Family Life Center, 131 E. Depot St., Marion, KY 42064.
