Bessie McVey Romanick, 84, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2007.
She was a retired employee of Pillsbury and a member of Ralph Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Harold Romanick; her brother, Irvin W. McVey of Kettering, Ohio; and a sister, Opal Purcell of Flemingsburg.
Services were Tuesday at Denton-Workman Funeral Home, with burial in Owingsville Cemetery.
Myrtle McCord Allison
Myrtle R. McCord Allison, 97, passed away Oct. 5, 2006, at the Maysville Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility. She was the widow of Rutherford Allison whose died in 1991.
Mrs. Allison was a devoted wife and mother who was an active farm wife and known for her great cooking ability. She enjoyed cross stitching quilts and was a substitute teacher in the Mason County School System and a RSVP volunteer for 10 years at Meadowview Regional Medical Center. She was a member of the May's Lick Baptist Church.
Born in Mason County on May 5, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Virginia Mullins McCord.
Surviving are five children, Jane A. Gorey of Lexington, R.L. (Ann) Allison, Brenda (Eddie) Scheek and Danny (Debbie) Allison, all of Dover, and Carol (Louis) Mason of Maysville; six grandchildren, Walter A. (Paula) Rosser of Minerva, Jane (David) Hord of Maysville, Wayne Scheek, Kay (Andy) Sims and Lee Allison, all of Dover, and Allison (Kirk) Alexander of Sardis; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Helen Thomas of Cincinnati and Virginia Stockdale and Juanita Smith, both of Flemingsburg; and a brother, Douglas McCord of Ewing. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceding her in death were a daughter, Evelyn (Walter) Rosser; five brothers, Bertram McCord, Woodrow McCord, Edward McCord Jr., Charles McCord and Carl McCord; and four sisters, Bessie Mae Stanfield, Lorene Hoskins, Ethel Applegate and Katherine Fulton.
Funeral services were conducted Oct. 7 at the Palmer Funeral Home in May's Lick with the Rev. David Cheek officiating. Burial was in the May's Lick Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hope or the charity of one's choice. Condolences may be left at www.palmerfuneralhome.net
Hattie Florence Arnold
Hattie Florence Arnold, 91, of Georgetown, Ohio, passed away Oct. 3, 2006, at Brown County General Hospital in Georgetown. She was the widow of Virgil Arnold.
Mrs. Arnold was a housewife.
Born in Goddard on July 4, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Maggie McCord Claypool.
Surviving are one son, David (Jutta) Arnold of Seaman, Ohio; two daughters, Judy Wilson of Georgetown and Betty (Glenn) Gelter of Douglass, Kan.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one half sister, Freda Cropper of Carlisle; and one sister-in-law, Blanche Claypool of Ewing.
Preceding her in death were one son, Wayne Arnold; five brothers; one sister; one stepsister; one son-in-law, Ronald Wilson; and one daughter-in-law, Beverly Arnold.
Funeral services were conducted Oct. 6 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown. Rev. Kevin Hamilton officiated. Burial was in Confidence Cemetery in Georgetown. If desired, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 644 Linn St., Suite No. 1026, Cincinnati, Ohio 45203.
Larry Anderson Cooper
Larry Anderson Cooper, 52, a resident of Flemingsburg, died in an auto accident at Sargent Branch on Oct. 3, 2006.
Born Feb. 7, 1954, in Morehead, he was the son of Gene Anderson Cooper and Bessie Sparks Cooper of Vanceburg.
Mr. Cooper was a self-employed carpenter, master logger and mechanic.
Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Jeannie Wilson Cooper; one son, Dustin Tyrell Cooper; two daughters, Varina (James) Yazell of Flemingsburg and Dana Marie (Kelly Stanfield) Cooper of Tollesboro; and four grandchildren, Tiffany Toller, Katelin Yazell, Mary Yazell and Allison Yazell.
Preceding him in death was one sister, Genee Ellen Applegate.
Funeral services were conducted Oct. 7 at the Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg with Bro. Arnold Howell officiating. Burial was in the Gulley Cemetery at Indian Creek. Military graveside rites were provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Monte Stamm Post No. 5438 of Vanceburg.
