Orville E. Reed, 69, of Olive Branch Road in Fleming County, passed away Oct. 3, 2006, at his residence.
Mr. Reed was a mechanic for Glenn Motor Company and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Born in Fleming County on May 23, 1937, he was the son of the late Thomas Ward and Ethel Isabel Durham Reed.
Surviving are his wife, Carol Jean McKee Reed; a daughter, Pamela Reed Courtney of Grant County; two sisters, Bessie Adams of Security, Colo. and Harolene Wallingford of Flemingsburg; and three brothers, Kenneth Reed of Flemingsburg, Gary Curtis of Higginsport, Ohio, and Hubert Reed of Panama City, Fla.
Preceding him in death were a sister, Martha Polley; and a brother, Walter T. Reed.
Funeral services were conducted Oct. 7 at the Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with the Rev. Clay Miller Jr. officiating. Burial was in the Goddard Cemetery.
Anna Marie Carpenter
Anna Marie Carpenter, 94, of Flemingsburg, passed away Oct. 7, 2006, at Fleming County Hospital.
She was the widow of Carl Fleming Carpenter, who passed away July 20, 1989.
Mrs. Carpenter was a lifetime member of St. Charles Catholic Church and enjoyed the Senior Citizens Center.
Born in Fleming County on Feb. 29, 1912, she was the daughter of the late William and Louise Erskine Coffey.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary (Ed) Varnell and Joan (Earl) Harmon, both of Flemingsburg; seven sons, Paul (Carolyn) Carpenter of Lexington, Robert "Bub" Carpenter of Morehead, Terry (Theresa) Carpenter of Washington, Gerald (Phyllis) Carpenter, Tommy (Connie ) Carpenter and Donnie (Brenda) Carpenter, all of Flemingsburg, and George (Tami) Carpenter of Louisville; 17 grandchildren, Leslie Kauffman, Jennifer Harmon Kirkland, Chris Carpenter, Amy Carpenter Aich, Sandra Carpenter Welsh, Steve Carpenter, Greg Harmon, John Carpenter, Stephanie Cooper, Michael Carpenter, Jeff Carpenter, Nancy Carpenter McGoldrick, Kevin Cooper, Andrew Carpenter, Patrick Carpenter, Shay Carpenter and Isaac Carpenter; one brother, Louis Coffey of Wallingford; two sisters, Dorothy Willett of North Manchester, Ind. and Betty Shafer of Dayton, Ohio; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were three children, Kathy Carpenter Cooper, Margaret Carpenter and Ronnie Carpenter; two brothers, William Coffey and James T. Coffey; and two sisters, Pau-line Gross and Mary Margaret Fern.
Mass of Christian Burial was intoned at St. Charles Catholic Church Oct. 10 with Rev. Verne Hogan officiating.
Carol Ruggles Doyle
Carol Ruggles Doyle, 69, of Tollesboro, passed away Oct. 6, 2006, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. She was the widow of Freddie Doyle.
Mrs. Doyle was a teacher at Licking Valley CAP and a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church.
Born Oct. 14, 1936, in Lewis County, she was the daughter of the late George "Tommy" Ruggles and Mildred May Atherton.
Surviving are five children, Tim (Carolyn) of Muses Mill, Lanny (Dennis) Applegate of Deland, Fla., Sandy Doyle of Winter Haven, Fla., Susie (Roy) Gibson of Augusta and Kim (Jerry) Blevins of Tollesboro; nine grandchildren, Jessica Ervin, Jeremy Ervin, Tabatha Gibson, Alice Gibson, Ashley Blevins, Sarah Applegate, Alen Gibson, Bradley Doyle and Cory Doyle; and five siblings, Deanie (Mae) Ruggles and Aubrey (Thelma) Ruggles, all of Ribolt, Larry (Martha) Ruggles of Vanceburg, George Douglas (Miranda) Ruggles of Danville and Bonnie (Ben) Walters of Sharpsburg.
Funeral services were conducted Oct. 9 at Bethel United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Bethel Cemetery.
Melburn Ray Dunigan
Melburn Ray Dunigan, 54, of Tollesboro, passed away at his residence, Oct. 7, 2006.
Mr. Dunigan worked at Walds Manufacturing for 25 years. He was a member of the Hickory Grove Church in Tollesboro.
Born in Lewis County on Feb. 18, 1952, he was the son of the late Arnold "Chick" Dunigan and Pauline Highfield Dunigan of Lewis County.
Surviving are his wife, Pearl "Tiny" Dunigan; two sons, Thomas M. Thurman and James R. Thurman, both of Big Cabin Creek; two daughters Kimberly Dunigan of Cincinnati and Sara Dunigan of Ewing.; two grandchildren, Hunter Thurman and Abigail Burton; one brother, Bill Dunigan of Big Cabin Creek; and four sisters, Mona Tully of Tollesboro, Pat Stone of Quicks Run, Sheila Burris of Vanceburg and Donna Monteith of Rectorville.
Funeral services were conducted Oct. 11 at Barbour and Son Funeral Home in Tollesboro and officiated by Bro. Charles Emmons. Burial was in the Muses Chapel Cemetery.
