Burritt C. Rose, 74, passed away Sept. 17, 2006, at his residence.
Mr. Rose was a Navy veteran and a 30-year employee of IBM, retiring in 1987. He was engaged in farming for many years. He was the son of the late Burritt and Esther Rose.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Ada Bernice House Rose; one son, Gary (Peggy) Rose of Versailles; two grandsons, Daniel Rose of Versailles and Cpl. Andrew Rose, USMC, Cherry Point, N.C.; a step-grandson, Chris Kelley of Maysville; a brother, Orville (Dorthea) Rose of Lexington; and a sister, Virginia (Mason) McMillen of Eubanks.
Graveside services were conducted Sept. 20 at Longview Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Richie Hunt Funeral Home in Owingsville.
Katherine McDonald Vice
Katherine McDonald Vice, 101, of Frankfort, passed away Sept. 26, 2006, at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home in Flemingsburg. She was the widow of Amos Vice.
Mrs. Vice was a former cashier at the Sundry Store and a member of the Tilton United Methodist Church.
Born Sept. 3, 1905 in Fleming County, she was the daughter of the late Lyde Harmon McDonald and William McDonald.
Surviving are one niece and five nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Sept. 29 at the Chapel Denton-Workman Funeral Home with the Rev. Gail Skaggs officiating. Burial was in the Fleming County Cemetery.
Douglas Wayne Ruark
Douglas Wayne Ruark, 44, of Irving, Texas, passed away Sept. 14, 2006, after an extended illness.
Mr. Ruark graduated from Tollesboro High School in 1980. He was a veteran of the Army and Navy.
Born April 29, 1962, in Mason County, he was the son of Alma (Doug) Thomas of Tollesboro and Don Ruark and Lou Moore of Ewing.
Surviving are his wife, Angela; three children, Kimberly (Brad) Purcell of Maysville, Doug (Brandy) Ruark of Maysville, and Jacob of Irving, Texas; one grandchild, Christopher Ruark; a sister Peggy (Robbie) Combs of Maysville; two brothers, Billy (Michele) Thomas of Stockton and Fred (Crystal) Thomas of Stockton; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents, William and Mary Dell Applegate and Mr. and Mrs. Garland Ruark.
Funeral services were conducted Sept. 20 at Cotrell Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, Mo. Burial was in the Sharpman Cemetery in Poplar Bluff with military rites at the grave.
Catherine Elizabeth Schwartz
Catherine Elizabeth Schwartz, 83, passed away Sept. 17, 2006.
Surviving are two sisters, Frances and Therese Wilkerson; a sister-in-law, Diana Schwartz; several cousins including Lucille Schwartz, Ann Hendrix and Gene Schwartz, all of Flemingsburg; and many nieces, nephews, their families and life-long friends.
Preceding her in death were a sister, Henrietta Hicinbotham; and two brothers, Charles and Louis Schwartz.
Mass of Christian Burial was intoned Sept. 23 at the Divine Mercy Parish in Bellevue. Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Maysville.
