Cynthia Ellen Royse, 98, of Hillsboro, passed away May 27, 2006. She was the widow of Omar D. Royse who died June 18, 1948.
Mrs. Royse was a member of the Ringos Mills United Methodist Church.
Born Feb. 7, 1908, in Nicholas County, she was the daughter of the late Perry and Lillie Mae Pierce.
Surviving are a son, Lindsay (Christine) Royse of Hillsboro; a granddaughter, Cynthia (Jeff) Childs of Hillsboro; a grandson, Sherman (Pam) Royse of Hillsboro; a sister, Georgia Harris of Hillsboro; a brother, Johnny (Eulene) Thomas of Wallingford; and four great-grandchildren, Sarah and Samantha Royse and Lindsay Rae and Christina Childs, all of Hillsboro.
Preceding her in death were a son, Hobert Mitchell Royse; two brothers, Roy and Clarence Royse; and two sisters, Hattie Royse and Ruby Rigdon.
Funeral services were conducted May 31 at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Short and Rev. Gaylord Gillispie officiating. Burial was in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
Josiah William “Jub” Mullikin, Jr.
Angelina Mullikin
Josiah William “Jub” Mullikin, Jr., 88, of Ocala, Fla., died Feb. 27, 2006. Josiah was born in Ewing Sept. 13, 1917, to Josiah William “Doc” Mullikin, Sr., and Elizabeth Stewart Mullikin and was a college professor.
Angelina Mullikin, 88, of Ocala, Fla., and the wife of Josiah William Mullikin, Jr., died March 10, 2006, in Ocala. Angelina was born in New Jersey and was a dental assistant.
Surviving are Josiah’s nieces and nephews Bonnie Catherine Mullikin, Larry Joe Mullikin, and Gene Steward Mullikin, Jr., of northern Kentucky, and Ronald Gene Mullikin of Tennessee, and Angelina’s brother, Bart Majorie, and nieces Rosarie O’Ruarke and Dianne Naccarato.
Funeral services were held May 19 at the Elizaville Cemetery, with full military honors being conducted by the Franklin Sousley VFW Post 1834 and the William Fant Post 5 of the American Legion.
Howard Dorris Pollitt
Howard Dorris Pollitt, 89, of Flemingsburg, died May 14, 2006, at the Fleming County Hospital in Flemingsburg. He was born in Lewis County on Aug. 11, 1916, and was a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Anna Matt Clary Pollitt; two sons, Donnie Pollitt of Fleming County and Caleb (Linda) Pollitt of Cordova, Tenn.; two daughters, Linda (Butch) Tackett of Lexington, Ky., and Ann (Hubert) Six of Port St. Joe, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Winford and Anna Pollitt; two brothers, Maurace Pollitt and Raymond Pollitt; one sister, Flossie Pollitt Grigsby; two sons, Jimmy Howard Pollitt and Billy Howard Pollitt; one daughter-in-law, Willma Pollitt; and one great-grandson, Auston Blake Eubanks.
Funeral services were held May 17 at the Unity Baptist Church in Flemingsburg, with burial in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Milford D. “Bill” Brown
Milford D. “Bill” Brown, 76, of Greenbrier Road, Wallingford, passed away May 18, 2006, at Fleming County Hospital. Mr. Brown was the husband of Barbara Swim Brown for over 55 years. He was a former sawmill operator, an avid sportsman, and a dedicated father and grandfather. He was a board member of the Fox Valley Community Church. He was born in Rowan County Dec. 16, 1929. His parents were the late Wheeler and Lucy D. Whitt Brown.
Other survivors include one daughter, Deborah Kathleen Brown of Muses Mills; one son, Larry Neil (Deanndra) Brown of Muses Mills; two sisters, Thelma Lowe of New Castle, Ind., and Eula Grace Reynolds of Colfax, Ky.; two brothers, Arvil Brown of Morehead and Paul Brown of Mississippi; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, David Kirby Brown; one daughter, Judith Dale Brown; seven sisters, Marie Brown, Ruth Brown, Nervie Cox, Beulah Hite, Amie L. Reynolds, Martha Brown and Lacy Myers; and three brothers, Woodrow Brown, James M. Brown and William A. Brown.
Funeral services were held at the Boone-Nickell Funeral Home in Flemingsburg on May 21, with burial in the Hammond Family Cemetery.
