Altha Kash Nickell, 91, passed away Dec. 8, 2005. She was the widow of Lexie B. Nickell.
Mrs. Nickell was a former school teacher and housewife.
Born in Morgan County on Feb. 8, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Caleb Stephen and Georgia Ann Carpenter Kash.
Surviving are one daughter, Lois Ann (Tommie) Howard of Flemingsburg; three sons, Larry G. (Sue) Nickell of Ruleville, Miss. and Conrad M. (Mary) Nickell and Rayburn (Sue) Nickell, both of Flemingsburg; one sister, Elizabeth Reed of Raleigh, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were a brother, Dr. Roy M. Kash; and three sisters, Rena Pattison, Opal Farmer and Hazel Kash.
Funeral services were conducted Dec. 11 at the Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Rev. Roy W. Machen II officiating. Burial was in Fleming County Cemetery.

Carl B. Rudd
Carl B. Rudd, 75, of Blue Creek, Ohio, passed away Dec. 10, 2005, at his residence. For over 30 years, the Rudds owned and operated a Christmas tree farm in Adams County which each season was transformed into a wonderland of millions of lighted scenes, many with animation. People came from surrounding counties and states to view the annual transformation. Ill health forced the Rudds to close the farm about five years ago. Some of their former displays have been reassembled at the Fairgrounds Wonderland in West Union.
Mr. Rudd was retired from General Motors. He attended Fairview Community Church near Decatur, Ohio
Surviving are his wife, Judy Lee Rudd; three sons; seven daughters, five brothers, including Otis (Glinda) Rudd of Carlisle; 27 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Dec. 13 at Fairview Community Church. Burial was in West Union Cemetery.
Betty Applegate
Betty Applegate, 74, of Tollesboro, passed away June 23, 2006. She was the widow of Carl Douglas Applegate.
Mrs. Applegate painted and wall papered and also ran a mini- home for health care of the elderly and disabled. She was a member of the Hickory Grove Church.
Born in Lewis County on April 25, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Glen and Geneva Hardymon Fite.
Surviving are four children, Jan Fuller of Maysville, June (Albert) Grierson of Tollesboro and Delmar Dean (Debbie) Applegate and Kevin (Dianna) Applegate, both of Orangeburg; a beloved niece, Denene (Junior) Zornes of Tollesboro; and two sisters, Sammy Sasaway of Wilmington, Ohio and Shirley Free of Maysville.
Preceding her in death were two sons, Sandy and Dan Applegate; and brothers and sisters, Jessie Wells, Denny Fite, Jean King and Maurice Fite.
Funeral services were conducted June 25 at Barbour and Son Funeral Home in Tollesboro with Bro. Jerry Blevins officiating. Burial was in the Mount Tabor Cemetery.
Mary Margaret Clark
Mary Margaret Clark, 88, of Maysville, passed away June 20, 2006, at the Maysville Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility.
Mrs. Clark was a member of the First Baptist Church where she had served as chairman of the decorating committee and president of the Women's Missionary Union. She retired as a cook on the barge "Nancy Sturgis" for Crounse Corporation and formerly worked for Carol Jean Flowers and the Maysville Flower Shop. When she lived in Cincinnati, she worked at the Chicago Market.
Born in Mason County on April 19, 1918, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley and Rosina Marie Castator Chain.
Surviving are two daughters, Jacquelyn (Robert) Hall and Christy (Kirk) Clarke, both of Maysville; seven grandchildren, Robert A. Hall, Tammi Denham, Tanya Gray, Holli Lowe, Heather Strode and Caroline Ullery, all of Maysville, and Jack Clarke of Nashville, Tenn.; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Violet Wallingford of Maysville and Fay Henderson of Tollesboro.
Preceding her in death were one son, Ronald Lynn Clark; one brother, Henry R. Chain; and one sister, Frances Rigdon.
Funeral services were conducted June 26 at the First Baptist Church with Revs. C. Wayne Barnett and Tony Leiss officiating. Burial was in the Charter Oak Cemetery.
