Mary Margaret Clark, 88, of Maysville, passed away June 20, 2006, at the Maysville Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility.
Mrs. Clark was a member of the First Baptist Church where she had served as chairman of the decorating committee and president of the Women's Missionary Union. She retired as a cook on the barge "Nancy Sturgis" for Crounse Corporation and formerly worked for Carol Jean Flowers and the Maysville Flower Shop. When she lived in Cincinnati, she worked at the Chicago Market.
Born in Mason County on April 19, 1918, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley and Rosina Marie Castator Chain.
Surviving are two daughters, Jacquelyn (Robert) Hall and Christy (Kirk) Clarke, both of Maysville; seven grandchildren, Robert A. Hall, Tammi Denham, Tanya Gray, Holli Lowe, Heather Strode and Caroline Ullery, all of Maysville, and Jack Clarke of Nashville, Tenn.; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Violet Wallingford of Maysville and Fay Henderson of Tollesboro.
Preceding her in death were one son, Ronald Lynn Clark; one brother, Henry R. Chain; and one sister, Frances Rigdon.
Funeral services were conducted June 26 at the First Baptist Church with Revs. C. Wayne Barnett and Tony Leiss officiating. Burial was in the Charter Oak Cemetery.
Thomas Ellis
Thomas "Snorkey" Ellis, 67, formerly of Lewis County, died at his home in Purcell, Okla., on June 15, 2006.
Mr. Ellis worked as a hotel custodian and served in the United States Army.
Born in Lewis County on Sept. 3, 1938, he was the son of the late John Walker and Ann Eibel Ellis.
Surviving are a daughter, Kimberlee Ellis of Tollesboro; three grandchildren, Erin Addison, Josh Ellis and Jesse Ellis, all of Lewis County; five sisters and brothers, Virginia Osborne of Dayton, Ohio, Celia Mills of Cincinnati, Frank (Barbara) Ellis of Coatsville, Ind., Joan (Owen) Porter of Avon, Ind. and Larry Ellis of Lexington, Okla.
Funeral services were conducted June 23 at the Barbour and Son Funeral Home in Tollesboro. Burial was in the East Fork Cemetery.
Pattye Whyte Richardson
Pattye Sue Whyte Richardson, 46, formerly of Maysville, died suddenly at her home June 22, 2006, in Nashville.
Born in Fleming County, she was the daughter of the late Wendell and Gertrude Whyte.
Surviving are her husband, Dr. Elisha Richardson; three sons, Scott, Mark and Jonathan Richardson; four grandchildren; a sister, Dr. Olivia (Robert) Thomas of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Wendell (Laura Ella) Whyte of Cincinnati; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of friends.
Funeral services were conducted June 26 at the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Nashville.
Lewis and Wright Funeral Home served the family.
Winford H. Sweet
Winford H. “Joe” Sweet, 56, of Maysville, passed away June 23, 2006, at Meadowview Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Sweet worked for G. and J. Pepsi Cola in Ripley, Ohio for 30 years and was a member of the Plumville Church of Christ.
Born in Mason County on March 12, 1950, he was the son of the late Herman and Loretta Blythe Sweet.
Surviving are Bernetta Sweet of Plumville; one daughter, Christy Towles (Frank) of Carlisle; two sons, Joel Sweet (Beth) of Tollesboro and Kelly Sweet of Plumville; three grandchildren; three brothers, Jackie and Gary Sweet, both of Maysville, and Ricky Sweet of Ellisville; and three sisters, Mable Sweet, Sue Tichenor and Louise Young, all of Maysville.
Funeral services were conducted at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home June 28 with Rev. Hillary Underwood officiating.
Burial was in the Hillcrest Garden of Memories.
