Sherwood Tildon Vise, 95, of Vise Road in Hillsboro, passed away May 1, 2005 at Fleming County Hospital. He was the widower of Elizabeth Gray Vise.
Mr. Vise as a retired farmer.
Born on August 26, 1909 in Fleming County, he was the son of Elijah Russell and Maltida Vise.
Surviving are three son, Ricky Vise, Jimmy (Darlene) Vise and Robert (Melinda) Vise, all of Fleming County; one daughter, Nancy (Robert) Spencer of Fleming County; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was one daughter, Betty Vise Denton.
Graveside services were conducted May 4 by Harley Sexton Jr. at Newman Cemetery at Plummers Landing.
Frank Miller Sr.
Frank Miller Sr., 72, of Fairview, passed away May 4, 2005 at Johnson-Mathers Nursing Home in Carlisle.
Mr. Miller was a retired farmer and painter.
Born in Fleming County on July 9, 1932, he was the son of Evi and Nellie Fulton Miller.
Surviving are two sons, Frank Miller Jr. of Ewing and Paul D. Miller of May's Lick; one daughter, Rena Price of Ewing; one brother, Herbert Miller of Vanceburg; five sisters, Thelma Henry of LaGrange, Mildred Miller, Lula Tucker, Norma Bean and Pearl Gee, all of Carlisle; and one grandson.
Funeral services were held May 9 at Price Bros. Funeral Home with burial in Mount Tabor Cemetery.
Douglas J. Adkins
Douglas J. Adkins, 43, of Carlisle, passed away May 4, 2005, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Mr. Adkins was employed by L-3 Communications in Lexington as a materials handler and operator and was a former employee of Ashland Inc. in Lexington. He had served in the National Guard.
Born April 28, 1962, in Berea, he was the son of Lloyd Adkins of Richmond and the late Lessie Abner Adkins. Also surviving are his wife of 10 years, Willa Hamilton Adkins; one son, Austin Adkins, and one daughter, Abigail Adkins, both at home; two brothers, Russell Adkins and Ronald Adkins of Richmond; one sister, Debbie Adkins, also of Richmond; and a mother-in-law, Helen Hamilton, of Fleming County.
Funeral services were conducted May 7 at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr. officiating; burial was in Filson Cemetery in Fleming County.
Gano Vice
Gano Vice, 84, Flemingsburg, passed away May 5, 2005, at Fleming County Hospital.
Mr. Vice was a member of the New Life Church of Christ, was a U.S. Army veteran and a farmer.
Born in Bath County on April 24, 1921, he was the son of the late Hester Jackson Vice and Morris Vice.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Vice; three daughters, Joyce Helphenstine, Brenda Buzzard, Deborah Emmons, all of Fleming County; five brothers, Ewell Vice, G.C. Vice, G.T. Vice, Orvel (Jack) Vice, all of Fleming County, and Floyd Vice of Tollesboro; 10 grandchildren, Darin Helphenstine, Kevin Helphenstine, Angela Helphenstine Harper, Anita (Wayne) Roberts, Amber Helphenstine, Stephanie (Derrick) Phillips, Andy Buzzard, Shawn (Carrie) Emmons, Misty Emmons and Ashley Emmons; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted May 8 at Denton-Workman Funeral Home with Bros. Rick Lerving and Kelly Carmichael officiating. Burial was in Fleming County Cemetery.
