Rowena Clarke Hughes, 76, of Ewing, passed this life Saturday, March 24, 2007.
She was the widow of Brooks Hughes.
Mrs. Hughes was born in Fleming County on June 16, 1930, the daughter of the late Jack and Ruth Standiford Clarke.
Mrs. Hughes was a member of the Mount Pisgah Church in Fairview.
Surviving are two sons, Jackie (Carol) Hughes and Greg (Tammy) Hughes, both of Ewing; four grandchildren, Candi (Jason) Adamson, Jeremy and Jonathan Hughes of Ewing and Johna Hughes of Aberdeen, Ohio.; two great-grandchildren, Sydney and Carley Adamson of Ewing; and two sisters, Linda (Jackie) Jordan of Ewing and Brenda (Ben) Rice of Lexington.
Services were 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 27, 2007, at Price Brothers Funeral Home in Elizaville with Rev. Todd Wiley officiating.
Burial was in the Mount Tabor Cemetery.
Mrs. Humphries
Emma Mae Saunders Humphries, age 93, of Days Mill Road, Hillsboro, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at the Fleming County Hospital.
Born April 14, 1913, in Fleming County, she was the daughter of the late John W. (Jack) and Nora Ann Dailey Saunders. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Curtis Lee Saunders. Her husband, Luther James Humphries passed away July 12, 1990.
Mrs. Humphries is survived by one daughter, Shirley Ann Humphries of Hillsboro; six sons, James PaulHumphries, William Earl Humphries, Harold Ray Humphries, Donald Lewis Humphries and Nelson Wayne Humphries, all of Hillsboro, and Noel Lee Humphries of Milford, Ohio; two sisters, Christine Thomas of Sharpsburg, and Viola McKee of Flemingsburg; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and 12 step-great grandchildren.
She was a homemaker and was of the Christian faith.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2007, at Hutton Funeral Home with the Rev. Gaylord Gillispie officiating.
Burial followed in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jimmy Humphries, Travis Humphries, Chad Humphries, Scott Harber, Jared Muse, Scott Williams and Vernon Thomas.
Mrs. Parish
Frankie Elizabeth Parish, 77, died Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at the Morehead Life Care Center.
She was born Oct. 26, 1929, in Fleming County, to the late Lawson Thompson and Flossie Molton Thompson.
Mrs. Parish was a retired waitress.
She is survived by four sons, Bob Thompson of Bellvue, Mich., Art (Donna) Parish and Ron Parish, both of Owingsville, and Tom Parish of Lexington; one daughter, Elaine (Rick) Keller of Morehead; five grandchildren; two, step-grandsons; one step-granddaughter; one great-grandchild; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Five brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
Services were 1 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2007, at the Denton-Workman Funeral Home in Flemingsburg. Bro. Harley Sexton Jr. officiated.
Burial was in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
Mr. Jarrell
Larry Franklin "Bud" Jarrell, age 58, of Maxey Flat Road, Hillsboro, Kentucky, passed away Monday, March 26, 2007, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky. He was born July 10, 1948, in Mansfield, Ohio, and was the son of the late Donald Dean and Hazel Mae Brown Jarrell.
Bud is survived by one sister, Georgia Jarrell Roark, of Hillsboro, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2007, at the Hutton Funeral Home with the Rev. Darry W. Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery on Maxey Flat Road. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at the Hutton Funeral Home in Hillsboro, Kentucky.
Mr. King
Elmer E. King, 83, of Mount Sterling Road, Flemingsburg, died Tuesday, March 13, 2007, in Flemingsburg.
He was a retired tree trimming supervisor and a member of Tilton Christian Church.
Mr. King was born Sept. 9, 1923, in Clay County, the son of the late Pachia and Henry King.
He is survivied by his wife, Thelma King; a son, Elijah King of Owsley County; three daughters, Wilma Becknell of Manchester, Lois Ward of Batavia, Ohio, and Janet King of Richmond; six step-daughters, Shirley Gray, Carolyn King, Marlene Ashcraft, Norene Harris, Edna Watkins and Iolene King; eight grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 12 step-great-grandchildren.
Services were Thursday, March 15, 2007, in the chapel of the Denton-Workman Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Wilson, Bro. Cecil Ison and Bro. Boyd Arnett officiating.
Burial followed in the Fleming County Cemetery.
