Jeff Boyd Jr., 62, of Wheelwright, Ky., died Sunday, November 11, 2001, at McDowell ARH, following an extended illness.
Born on August 5, 1939, at Jonancy, Ky., he was the son of the late Jefferson and Cora Williamson Boyd. He was a disabled coal miner, a member of the Wheelwright Freewill Baptist Church, (baptized September 2, 2001), and fire chief of Wheelwright Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Shelvie Jean Harris Boyd.
Other survivors include his children and grandchildren, Greg and Vickie Boyd, Gregory and Sarah, all of Virgie, Ky., David Boyd of Phillip, W.Va.; Evelyn and Jerry Newsome, J.D. and Evan, all of Virgie, Ky., Jeffrey and Daletta Boyd, Dalton and Dalen of Barstow, Calif., Brian and Katrina Boyd, Logan and Cody, all of Sevierville, Tenn.; two brothers, Earnest Boyd of Bevinsville, Ky., and Willie Boyd of Jackson, Ky.; four sisters, Mary Potter of Pound, Virginia, Lana Hall of Berline Heights, Oh., Martha Abshire of Johns Creek, Ky., and Ruth Hampton of Ovid, Mich.; two special people, Wilma and James Hall.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Raney Boyd; two sisters, Minnie Boyd and Corrine Hall.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 14, 2001, at 1 p.m., at the Wheelwright Freewill Baptist Church, Bypro, Ky.. with Louis Ferrari and Bobby Isaac officiating.
Burial will be in the Alvis Newsome Cemetery, Little Robinson Creek, Ky., under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, Ky.
Visitation is at the Wheelwright Freewill Baptist Church.
Eddie Chafin
Eddie Chafin, age 46, of Emma, Ky., husband of Lana Burchett Chafin, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2001, at his residence.
He was born November 2, 1955, in Martin, Ky., the son of Martha Orsborne Chafin, Martin, Ky., and the late David Edward “Dave” Chafin. He was a former employee of the Floyd County Board of Education, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and attended the Martin First Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by one son, Steven Graham Chafin of Emma, Ky.; one daughter, Ciara Dawn Chafin of Emma, Ky.; three brothers, Jim Chafin of Martin, Ky., David M. Chafin of Chesapeake, Va., John T. Chafin, attorney, of River, Ky.; three sisters, Janice Hall of Ft. Wayne, In., Rosa Hall of Pippa Passes, Ky., Virginia “Sissy” Manuel of Martin, Ky.
Funeral services for Eddie Chafin will be conducted Thursday, November 15, 2001, at 1:00 p.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, Ky., with the clergymen, Jack Howard and Graydon Howard, officiating.
Burial will be in the Emma Family Cemetery, Emma, Ky., under the professional care of Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Ky.
Visitation is at the funeral home.

Beulah Mathews
Beulah Mathews, age 90, of Hi Hat, Ky., widow of William Mathews, passed away Monday, November 12, 2001, at the McDowell Appalachian Regional Hospital, McDowell, Ky., following a brief illness.
She was born December 21, 1910, in Fugate, Ky., the daughter of the late John Cantrell and Mary Adams Cantrell. She was a homemaker and a member of the Prestonsburg Jehovah Witnesses.
Survivors include one son, Willis Mathews of Prestonsburg, Ky.; one grandchild, Gwen Hamilton of McDowell, Ky.; two great-grandchildren, Richard Hamilton of Morehead, Ky., Ryan Hamilton of Lexington, Ky.; one great-great-grandchild, Savannah Hamilton of Morehead, Ky.; one step-daughter, Mildred Salyer of Newark, Oh.; three step-grandsons, Howard Mathews of Phoenix, Az., Vern Salyer and Verl Salyer, both of Newark, Oh.; two step-granddaughters, Janice Akers of Prestonsburg, Ky., Cheryl Wenglikowski of Huntsville, Tx., and several step-great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Beulah was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Judy Mathews Hall.
Beulah Mathews was an active member of the Prestonsburg Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, spending some time each month talking to others about the Bible, and telling them of God’s Kingdom, and the wonderful future Jehovah has in store for the earth. She believed strongly in the resurrection of the dead, and expects to live again in a paradise on the earth. We look forward to welcoming her back.
Funeral services for Beulah Mathews will be conducted Thursday, November 15, 2001, at 11:00 a.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, Ky., with the speaker, Heiko Giese, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel, Ky., under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Ky.
Myrtle E. Spencer Hall
Myrtle E. Spencer Hall, age 86, of Printer, widow of Oliver Hall, passed away, Saturday, November 10, at her residence.
She was born April 16, 1915, in Greenup, a daughter of the late Ballard and Minnie Clark Spencer. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mouth of Mud Church of Christ.
Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Parsons (Barlowe); one brother, Ballard Spencer Jr., of Bradenton, Fla.; two sisters, Dora Dean Spencer and Norma Spencer, both of Printer; three grandchildren, Sherry Lee Parsons, Melinda Gail Williams (Terry), Kristina Nicole Parsons; and two great-grandchildren, Michael Brandon Williams and Skylar Chayse Williams.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three sons, Harold Ballard Hall, David Eugene Hall, and Earl Hall; and one daughter, Verl Hall.
Funeral services for Myrtle E. Spencer Hall were conducted Tuesday, November 13, at 11 a.m., in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, Ky., with Clergymen Elbert Red Lawson and Doug Ramey officiating.
Burial was in the Harvey Cemetery, at Honaker, with the Hall Funeral Home caring for those arrangements.
Visitation was at the funeral home.

Nora Meade Music
Nora Meade Music, 86, of Prestonsburg, Ky., died Friday, November 9, 2001, following an extended illness.
Born on September 13, 1915, at Prestonsburg, Ky., she was the daughter of the late George and Ida Hackworth Meade. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy at West Prestonsburg, Ky., and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Music.
Survivors include one son, Gordon Music of Ashland, Ky.; one daughter, Bonnie Sue Music of Prestonsburg, Ky.; one grandson, Kennith Music and wife, Pamela, of Prestonsburg, Ky.; two great-granddaughters, Ramanda Music, Chanel Music; one daughter-in-law, Edna Music.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry Music and Arnold Music; two step-sons, Tom Music and Charles Bob Music; three brothers, Homer Meade, Jerry Meade, David Meade; three sisters, Haley Harmon, Grace Brecker and Rose Hulleston; one step-daughter, Rema Porter.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, November 11, 2001, at 1 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, Ky., with Don Fraley Jr., and Buddy Jones officiating.
Burial was in the Pruitt Cemetery, Abbott Road, Prestonsburg, Ky., under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.

Willie Frasure
Willie Frasure, age 89, of Langley, Ky., husband of the late Ollie Mae Goble Frasure, passed away, Sunday, November 11, 2001, at the Knott County Nursing Home, Hindman, Ky., following an extended illness.
He was born October 15, 1912, in Langley, Ky., the son of Bill Frasure and Vicie Johnson Frasure. He was a coal miner and self-employed logger.
Survivors include one son, Billy Ross Frasure of Hillsboro, Ky.; five daughters, Lula Adkins of Sidney, Oh., Northsell Shepherd of Pierceton, In., Beleta Isonagle of Sidney, Oh., Willa Dean Brock of Nappanee, Ind., Eldoris Fields of Langley, Ky., several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Jimmy Ray Frasure, Arnold Frasure; and one daughter, Patricia Miller.
Willie Frasure was a simple man, who never met a stranger. always with a big smile and a big tale to tell. Always kind and loving with all children. He always made sure no one left his house hungry. He will be sadly missed by all his children and grandchildren, but will live on in all our memories.
Funeral services for Willie Frasure will be conducted, Wednesday, November 14, 2001, at 11:00 a.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, Ky., with the clergyman, Chester Varney, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Frasure Family Cemetery, (Wilson Creek), Langley, Ky., under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Ky.

Willa J. Salisbury
Willa J. Salisbury, age 71, of Napoleon, Ohio, died Tuesday, November 6, 2001, at the Henry County Hospital.
Born October 30, 1930, in Wayland, Ky., she was the daughter of Hendrick and Viola (McIntosh) Callahan. On December 17, 1949, she married
George D. “Demp” Salisbury, who survives.
Willa received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Defiance College, and her Library Science Degree from Bowling Green State University. She worked at the Patrick Henry High School for 20 years, where she set up the first school library, retiring in 1990.
She also worked on the State Library Bookmobile. She was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Definance, Ohio; State Teacher Retirement Association and the Henry County Retired Teachers Association.
Surviving also are two sons, Jeff (Diana) Salisbury of Findlay, Ohio; George H. (Suellen) “Susie” Salisbury of Conyers, Georgia; two brothers, Bill Callahan of Franklin, Ohio; Sherrill Callahan of Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Betty (John) Pullen of Definance, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Matthew Salisbury, Lee Salisbury, Audra Salisbury, Colin Salisbury, Jamie Salisbury, Amanda Salisbury, and Kaitlyn Salisbury.
She was preceded in death by one brother, D.C. Callahan; two sisters, Irene McKenzie and Maxine Hicks.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 10, in the Walker Mortuary, Napoleon, Ohio, with Rev. Terry Vale, officiating.
Interment will be made in Riverview Memory Gardens, rural Defiance County.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
The family has suggested that memorial contributions may be made to the Bob and Annie Hood Trust Fund.
