Robert “Rob” Meade, 83, of Harold, died Saturday, September 14, 2002, at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Medical Center.
Born October 17, 1918, at Harold, he was the son of the late Robert Meade and Elizabeth Taylor Meade. He was disabled.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, September 18, at 1 p.m., at the Lower Toler Church of Christ, at Harold, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin.
Burial will follow in the Hall Family Cemetery, Toler Creek, Harold, under the direction of the funeral home.
Visitation is at the church.
Alma Marie Souleyrette
Alma Marie Souleyrette, age 91, of Wheelwright, died Monday, September 16, 2002, at Highlands Regional Medical Center.
Born February 9, 1911, in Minnie, she was the daughter of the late Millard Salisbury and Mary Allen Salisbury. She was the widow of Roy D. Souleyrette.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Wheelwright United Methodist Church, the Eastern Star, Wheelwright, the Wheelwright Women’s Club, and the National Federation of Women’s Clubs.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Tuley Salisbury, Stacy Salisbury, and James Trudy Salisbury.
Survivors include two sons, Rodney Souleyrette, of Wheelwright, and Reginald Roy Souleyrette, of Lexington; one brother, Tracy Salisbury, of Rutledge, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Reginald Roy II, Jeffery Scott, and Douglas Alan; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, September 20, at 11 a.m., at the Wheelwright United Methodist Church, under the direction of Hall Funeral Home, Martin, with the clergymen Bobby Isaac and Louie Ferrari officiating.
Burial will follow in the John Allen Cemetery, at Prestonsburg, under the professional care of Hall Funeral Home.
Visitation is at the church.
Janet Sue Casey Dotson
Janet Sue Casey Dotson, age 49, of Kimper, died Monday, September 16, 2002, at her residence.
Born June 9, 1953, at Pikeville, she was the daughter of Minnie Smith Casey, of Phelps, and the late Jim Casey.
She was a homemaker and of the Freewill Baptist faith.
In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charlie Casey and Bobby Casey.
She is survived by her husband, William Eddie Dotson, of Kimper; one daughter, Sheryl (Bryan) Cruey, of Tazewell, Virginia; one son, Chris (Brenda) Dotson, of Phelps; one granddaughter, Courtney Cruey, of Tazewell, Virginia; one brother, Anthony Casey, of Phelps; and, three sisters, Carolyn Ratliff, of Ransom, and Mary Casey and Kaye Lester, both of Phelps.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September, 19, at 2 p.m., at the R.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, Phelps Chapel. Rev. Michael Casey and Rev. Dewitt Furrow will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Billy Dotson Cemetery, at Phelps, under the direction of the funeral home.
Visitation is at the chapel.
Myrtie G. Fraley
Myrtie G. Fraley, age 82, of Prestonsburg, died Tuesday, September 17, 2002, at Highlands Regional Medical Center.
Born July 10, 1920, in Prestonsburg, she was the daughter of the late William and Maggie Thomas Smith.
She was a homemaker and attended the Baptist church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Raymond Fraley; one son, Douglas Edward Fraley; three brothers, William Smith, Steve Smith, and Hoot Smith; and three sisters, Mable Griffith, Jenny Smith, and Josephine Slone.
She is survived by two sons, James Raymond Fraley Jr, of Milan, Michigan, and Michael Fraley, of Prestonsburg; one daughter, Carol Fraley, of Prestonsburg; one brother, Arthur Smith, of Ypsilanti, Michigan; six grandchildren; and, six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 19, at 1 p.m., at the Third Avenue Freewill Baptist Church, Prestonsburg, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home. Manford Fannin will officiate.
Burial will follow in Gethesame Gardens under the direction of the funeral home.

Lassie N. Justice Hall
Lassie N. Justice Hall, 66, of Vinton, Ohio, died unexpectedly, Thursday, September 12, 2002, in the Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, Ohio.
She was born November 21, 1935, at Dana, the daughter of the late John and Dora Hall Kidd.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Harry N. Justice and Alton Hall.
She is survived by six children, Nikita (Mark) Hasseman of Vinton, Ohio, Yughonda (Raymond) Dotson of Junction City, Kansas, G. Nicklas Justice of Vinton, Ohio; Tajana (J.R.) Mullins of Vinton, Ohio; Jauquime Justice of Vinton, Ohio, and Taymonee (John) Brodberg of Perry, Michigan; three sisters, eight grandchildren, and a special friend, Melvina Watson of Dana.
Graveside services will be conducted Sunday, September 15, at 1 p.m., at the Kidd Family Cemetery, at Dana, with Pastor Sonny Ray Boyd officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton, Ohio.
Pearl Nadine Bartley
Pearl Nadine Bartley, age 56, of Hi Hat, wife of William Ronald “Toby” Bartley, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2002, at the Pikeville Methodist Hospital, Pikeville.
She was born July 6, 1946, in McDowell, the daughter of Gracie Newman of Hi Hat, and the late Gomer Newman. She was a retired sales clerk, employed by Price Rite Grocery Store, and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy, Hi Hat.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by one son, Ronald Glenn Bartley of Hi Hat; one daughter, Rona Nadine Triplett of Hi Hat; one brother, Richard Newman of Craynor; one sister, Annabell “Tiny” Goble of Georgetown, and three grandchildren, Owen Michael Triplett, Savannah Kristian Bartley, and Serena Christine Bartley.
She was preceded in death by one grandchild, Rachael Lynn Bartley.
Funeral services for Pearl Nadine Bartley will be conducted Sunday, September 15, at 11 a.m., at the Church of God of Prophecy, Hi Hat, with Clergy-man Don Fraley officiating.
Burial will follow in the Newman Cemetery, Hi Hat, under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin.
Visitation is after 2 p.m., Friday, at the church.
Glen Laferty
Glen Laferty, age 84, of Prestonsburg, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2002, at the Pikeville Methodist Hospital, after an extended illness.
He was born June 12, 1918, at Thomas, a son of the late Morgan and Mary L. (Blackburn) Laferty. He was retired from Union Carbide at Ashtabula, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine (Hayes) Laferty.
He is survived by two sons and six daughters, Glen Laferty Jr., Richard Laferty, both of Ashtabula, Ohio, Mary Margaret Kirby of Lebanon, Ohio, Blanche Corlew of Ashtabula, Ohio, Margie Custer of Oregon, Helen Turnquist of Ashtabula, Ohio, Evelyn Sue McGeary of Ashtabula, Ohio, and Bebbie Lynn Dyson of Blacksburg, Virginia; two brothers, Earnest Lafferty and Clyde Lafferty, both of Prestonsburg; three sisters, Peggy Newman of Endicott, Ina Merl Brewer of Florida, and Lucille James of Prestonsburg; 22 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, September 8, at 1 p.m., from the Burke Funeral Home in Prestonsburg, with Rev. Nathan Lafferty officiating.
Burial followed in the Blackburn/Lafferty Cemetery at Endicott.
All arrangements were under the direction of Burke Funeral Home.
Visitation was at the funeral home.
Buddy Boy Hall
Buddy Boy Hall, 69, of McDowell, died Friday, September 6, 2002, at his residence at McDowell.
Born February 8, 1933, in Teaberry, he was the son of the late Frank and Beatrice McPeek Hall. He was a retired chemical worker, and attended the Little Rosa Regular Baptist Church at McDowell.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Lorraine Vance Hall.
Other survivors include one son, Mike Hall of Pocahontas, Illinois; one daughter, Debbie Meyer of Pocahontas, Illinois; two stepdaughters, Katye Steiner of Springboro, Ohio, and Karen Lindower of Kettering, Ohio; three brothers, Bill McPeek of Newport, Michigan, Lloyd Hall of Teaberry, and Emmit Hall of Xenia, Ohio; five sisters, Ruth Irene Little of Beaver, Ruby Mitchell of Beaver Creek, Ohio, Goldie Hamilton of Betsy Layne, Geraldine Born of Miamisburg, Ohio, and Magaline Parish of Riverview, Michigan; four grandchildren, Kreshena Meyer, Ashton, Breanna, and Jeremy Hall; one great-grandchild, Anna Hall; and six step-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Velma Hall.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, September 9, at 11 a.m., at the Little Rosa Regular Baptist Church in McDowell, with Regular Baptist ministers officiating.
Burial was in the Frank Hamilton Cemetery (Dry Branch), Teaberry, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin.
Visitation was at the Funeral Home.
