Mary Belle Childers, 70, of Banner, died Friday, September 5, 2003, at her residence.
Born December 4, 1932, in Floyd County, she was the daughter of the late James (Jim) and Rilda Bryant Clark. She was a homemaker and attended Old Regular Baptist Churches.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Childers.
Survivors include an aunt, Pearlie Adams of Frankfort; three nephews, Rudy Robinette of Banner, Thomas Clark of Texas, and Bobby Childers of Virgie; two cousins, Jeanette Hall of Martin and Loretta Conn of Banner; and many friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Isaac Clark; and three half-sisters, Hazel Amburgey, Claudia Robinson and Fredia Robinette.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, September 7, at 11 a.m., at the Little Salem Old Regular Baptist Church at Dana, with Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating.
Burial was in the Akers Cemetery at Prater Creek, in Dana, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin.
Visitation was at the church, with nightly services at 7 p.m.
Georgie Hamilton
Georgie Hamilton, 85, of Melvin, died Monday, September 8, 2003, at his daughter’s residence at (Abner Mountain), Melvin.
Born October 30, 1917, in Teaberry, he was the son of the late Columbus and Liza Hall Hamilton. He was a retired coal miner, honorary member of the Sheriff’s Department, and a chairman for the Democratic party.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy L. Moore Hamilton.
Survivors include one son, Terry Conley of Troy, Michigan; one daughter, Christine Slone of Melvin; one sister, Hattie Tackett of Ligon; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Gratho Hamilton; one brother, William Hamilton; and one sister, Tilda Hamilton.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 11, at noon, at the Church of Christ in Melvin, with Orville Burke, John Burke, and Eddie Hughes officiating.
Burial will be in the Hamilton Cemetery at Melvin, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Visitation is at the church.
Bobby Joe Click
Bobby Joe Click, age 66, of Martin, husband of Pina Bowling Click, passed away, Friday, September 5, 2003, in Our Lady of the Way Hospital, Martin.
He was born June 4, 1937, in Manton, the son of the late Robert Click and Delilah Hale Click. He was a retired meat cutter for Cash Saver, at Martin.
Survivors include his wife, Pina; two sons, Bobby Joe Click Jr., of Corinth, and Charles David Click of Kenner, Louisiana; two brothers, Edgel “Bide” Click of Martin, and Ezra “Jug” Click of Lexington; four sisters, Pauline Conley of Garrett, Madeline Deaton of Canyonville, Oregon, Parthena Martin of Prestonsburg, and Marcella Howard of Volga; three grandchildren, Amber Turner, Megan Click and Lucas Click; and one great-grandchild, Hunter Turner.
Funeral services for Bobby Joe Click were conducted Monday, September 8, at 11 a.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with Clergyman Ted Shannon officiating.
Burial was in the Click Family Cemetery, at Martin, under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home.
Visitation was at the funeral home.

Johnnie Mullins
Johnnie Mullins, 86, of Hueysville, died Thursday, September 4, 2003, at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.
Born March 6, 1917, at Ivel, he was the son of the late Gomer Stewart and the late Vickie Mullins. He was a disabled coal miner and a member of the Hueysville Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Jody Mullins of Hueysville, and Tony Mullins of Eastern; five daughters, Ann Thomas, Linda Chaffins, and Margie Chaffins, all of Garrett, Marie Gilbert of London, and Sandra Tucker of Oklahoma; three step-sons, Wayne Collins and Stanley Collins, both of Eastern, and Lewis Collins of Langley; three step-daughters, Judy Wright of Martin, Patricia Slone of Pyramid, and Kim Jones of Ohio; four sisters, Edna Greer of Salisbury, Ethel Hall of Martin, Lilas Mullins of Pikeville, and Rosemary Grose of Michigan; four half-brothers, Ed Kidd of Martin, Dewey Kidd of Michigan, and Nick Kidd and Andy Kidd, both of Florida; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and two step-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Johnny Mullins Jr., and Earnest Mullins; and a daughter, Betty Jo Dempsey.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, September 7, at 2 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home in Martin, with Buddy Jones and Jerry Manns officiating.
Burial was in the Castle Cemetery at Hueysville, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Visitation was at the funeral home, with nightly services at 7 p.m.
Samuel Jarrell
Samuel Jarrell, 76, of West Portsmouth, Ohio, died Friday, August 29, 2003, at Southern Ohio Medical Center.
He was born October 26, 1926, in Dana, the son of the late Epp Jarrell and Millie Rice Jarrell.
Surviving are daughters, Mary K. Hall, Jennie Huff, Debbie Kazee, and Teresa Pierce; sons, Eppie Lee, Paul Randall, and Sammy Lee Jarrell; brother, Carl Lee Jarrell; sisters, Lillie Baker, Della Curtis, Ruby Scutchfield, and Emmel Wallen; and 16 grandchildren.
Services were 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 2, at Don Wolfe Funeral Home in Sciotoville, with the Rev. Curtis Riley officiating, and interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Visitation was at the funeral home.
Ralph Neil Clark
Ralph Neil Clark, 62, died Saturday, September 6, 2003, in Sugar Land, Texas.
He was born in Houston, Texas, on September 28, 1940, and had lived in the Prestonsburg area for the past 15 years. He was a distinguished artist, art teacher, writer, inventor, and consummate story teller. Previously he had served in the Peace Corps in the Caribbean and New Mexico.
Ralph is survived by his mother, Mary E. Buehring; his sisters, Cindy Gustin and her husband, Mike, and Bunnye Clark and her husband, Paul; a brother, Walter Buehring and his wife, Suzanne; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, September 9, at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., with Rev. Gene Vickrey officiating.

Elder Jack Akers
Elder Jack Akers, 64, of McDowell, died Friday, September 5, 2003, at his residence.
Born September 27, 1938, in Floyd County, he was the son of Cloie Caudill Akers of Beaver, Ohio, and the late Pink Akers Sr. He was a retired carpenter and a member and elder of the Little Rosa Old Regular Baptist Church of the New Salem Association, at McDowell.
He is survived by his wife, Mary J. Adams Akers.
Other survivors include a son, LeRoy Akers of McDowell; two daughters, Cindy Murrell of Garrett, and Lisa Strassburg of McDowell; three brothers, Talbie Akers of Michigan, Dewey Akers of Wooster, Ohio, and Pink Akers Jr., of Lancaster, Ohio; four sisters, Brenda Hicks of McDowell, Madis Siders of Ohio, Marie Brown of Michigan, and Betty Henson of Beaver, Ohio; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two sons, Richard Akers and Charles Akers; a daughter, Tina Akers; two brothers, Jimmy Ray Akers and William Robert Akers; and a sister, Mildred Rings.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, September 8, at 11 a.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home in Martin, with Elder Red Alley, and other elders of the Old Regular Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial was in the Osborne Cemetery (Frasures Creek) at McDowell, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Visitation was at the funeral home, with nightly services at 7 p.m.
James Lewis (Jimbo) Griffith
James Lewis (Jimbo) Griffith, 61, of Prestonsburg, died Monday, September 8, 2003, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington.
Born April 11, 1942, in Garrett, he was the son of the late Wayne and Virginia Clay Griffith. He was a disabled coal miner, a U.S. Army veteran; and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Joyce Bradley Griffith.
Other survivors include two sons, James Griffith Jr., of Whittensville and Herbert Steven Griffith of Martin; three daughters, Brandi Jo Griffith of Prestonsburg, April Dawn McCoy and Virginia Marie Griffith, both of Martin; three brothers, Hershel Griffith of Hampton, Ohio, Paul Frederick Griffith of Lima, Ohio, and Carlos Griffith of David; two sisters, Doris Slone and Gloria Shepherd, both of David; and four grandchildren, Martaia Griffith, Megan McCoy, Makayla McCoy and Xavier Dwayne Shell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Cletis Griffith, Robert Griffith, Dewey Griffith and Wayne Griffith; and a sister, Audrey Thomas.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 11, at 1 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home in Martin, with Reverend Clifford Austin, and others, officiating.
Burial will be in the Shepherd Cemetery at David, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
