Nora Ann Adkins, age 87, of Printer, Ky., widow of Elzie Henry Adkins, passed away Monday, September 17, 2001, at the McDowell Appalachian Regional Hospital, McDowell, Ky. She was born August 17, 1914, at Printer, Ky., the daughter of the late Alec Lee Meade and Martha Jane Parsons Meade. Mrs. Adkins was a self-employed store owner and homemaker, and a member of the Spurlock Church of Christ.
Survivors include two daughters, Violet Mae Spurlock, Printer, Ky., and Joyce Ann Barnett, Taylor, Mi.; seven grandchildren, Billy Roy Spurlock, Brian Kenneth Spurlock, Pamela Barnett, Melissa Marshall, Jason Lee Barnett, Randell Lee Adkins, and Jeffery Adkins; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Ishmael Lee Adkins; five brothers, Benjamin Meade, Charlie Meade, Lawrence Meade, Perry Meade, and Theodore Meade; one sister, Alice Meade Parsons Miller; and one grandchild, Sandra Lynn Adkins.
Funeral services for Nora Ann Adkins will be conducted Thursday, September 20, 2001, at 11:00 a.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, Ky., with the clergymen Bruce Coleman and Bill Meade officiating. Burial will follow in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel, Ky. Visitation is at the funeral home.
George McDaniels
George McDaniels, age 71, died on Friday, September 14, 2001, at 9:19 a.m., at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind. He was born on January 23, 1930, to John and Mallie (Patrick) McDaniels. He married
Vernice (Salisbury) McDaniels on March 24, 1951, in Prestonsburg, Ky., and she survives him. He was retired from Reliable Tool in 1991, after 17 years.
Visitation was held Sunday, September 16, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at Hite Funeral Home, 403 South Main, Kendallville, Ind. Funeral services were held on September 17 at 10:00 a.m. at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville. Burial was at the Orange Cemetery at Rome City.
He is survived by his wife, Vernice McDaniels, of Kendallville; three sons, Rex (Carol) McDaniels, of Kendallville, Ind., Ray McDaniels, of Boca Raton, Fl., and Harlan McDaniels, of Kendallville; two sisters, Lula Hall, of Beattyville, Ky., and Dovie Collins, of Martin, Ky.; five granddaughters, Kari McDaniels, Sheila McDaniels, and Renae McDaniels, all of Kendallville, Aimie Morse, of Corunna, and Chasity Collins, of Ft. Wayne. Seven great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Cleburn McDaniels and Leburn McDaniels; one sister, Lilly Noble; and one great-grandson.
Blanch Morgan Vaught
Blanch M. Vaught died Sunday, August 26, 2001.
A native of Prestonsburg, Ky., she had been a longtime Peninsula resident. She was a daughter of the late Bill and Eunice Morgan of Abbott.
Survivors include two daughters, Dale Boettner of Newport News, and Bonita Tovey and her husband, Paul, of Suffolk; her son, Rick Dotson and his wife, Linda, of Atlanta, Ga.; sister, Vivian Childers of North Carolina; three brothers, Ross Morgan of Ohio, John Morgan of Kansas and Jim Morgan of Ky.; and six grandchildren, Melissa Boettner, Eric, David, and Joseph Dotson, and Allison and Amanda Tovey.
Visitation was Wednesday, August 29, at Peninsula Funeral Home.
A graveside service was conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 30, in Peninsula Memorial Park.
Paul Burgess Daniel
Paul Burgess Daniel, age 66, of 4017 Chapel Lane, Owensboro, Ky., died Friday, September 14, 2001, at his home. The Paintsville, Ky. native retired as vice-president and general manager of WOMI / WBKR and WBIO. The United States Army veteran was a member and 30-year deacon of Bellevue Baptist Church. He was a Kentucky Colonel, former member and vice-president of Southtown Kiwanis and former member of Owensboro Downtown Inc.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Betty DeRossette Daniel; one daughter, Paula Jo Steele, of Salt Lake City, Utah; three grandchildren, Danielle Nicole Steele, John Christopher Steele II, and Natalie Jo Steele, all of Salt Lake City, Utah; two sisters, Mary Sue Butcher, of Tutor Key, Ky., and Nancye Louisa Moore, Van Lear, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by two sisters, Kathlene Daniel who died in 1935, and Oralene Primm who died in 1998, his mother, Irene Burton Auxier, who died in 2000, and his father, Dennis Charles Daniel, who died in 1977.
Funeral services for Paul Burgess Daniel were conducted on Tuesday, September 18, 2001, at 11:00 a.m., at Bellevue Baptist Church, Owensboro, Ky. Entombment in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Owensboro, Ky.
Visitation was at the James H. Davis Funeral Home, Owensboro, Ky.

Judith Carol Blevins Archer
Judith Carol Blevins Archer, age 57, of Eubank, Ky., formerly of Langley, Ky., wife of Ralph L. Archer, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2001, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, Somerset, Ky.
She was born August 18, 1944, in Eastern, Ky., the daughter of the late Delmer Blevins and Webble Francisco Blevins. She was a retired hair dresser and secretary, a graduate of Maytown High School of Langley, Mayo Vocational of Paintsville, and Fugazzi Vocational College of Lexington, Ky., and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Prestonsburg.
Survivors include two step-daughters, Sheila Woodard and Charlene Miller, both of El Paso, Texas.; three brothers, Kenneth Blevins, Langley, Ky., John Blevins, Toledo, Ohio., Larry Blevins, Holt, Mo.; three sisters, Patsy Bentley Dean, Kansas City, Kan., Jannice Hinkle and Mary Wallen, both of Langley, Ky.; three step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Kendrick Blevins.
Funeral services for Judith Carol Blevins Archer were conducted Tuesday, September 18, 2001, at 1:00 p.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, Ky., with clergyman John Baker officiating. Burial followed in the Blevins Cemetery, Langley, Ky., under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Ky.
Pallbearers for Judith Carol Blevins Archer were Kelvin Blevins, Steven Blevins, Kirk Blevins, Gary Hinkle, Brian Wallen, and Wetzel Queen. Honorary pallbearer was Christopher O’Neal Blevins.
Rosa Huff Bradley
Rosa Huff Bradley, age 80, of Wayland, Ky., wife of the late Gliden “Sam” Bradley, passed away Monday, September 17, 2001, at her residence in Wayland, Ky. She was born June 15, 1921, in Allen, Ky., the daughter of the late Allen Huff and Zora Davis Huff. Mrs. Bradley was a member of the Caney Fork Old Regular Baptist Church, and a homemaker.
Survivors include three daughters, Gloria Jean Webb and Rosemary Hopkins, both of Wayland, Ky., and Janice Fay Layne, Eastern, Ky.; one brother, Grover Huff, Kenton, Ohio; one sister, Pauline Sircey, Belleville Mich.; five grandchildren, Steven Brian Layne, Kevin Christopher Webb, Douglas Alan Hopkins, Jaime Lynn Brown, and Jennifer Lynn Hopkins; and four great-grandchildren, Corey Joe Webb, Steven Bradley Layne, Andrew Kevin Webb, and Christopher Blake Brown.
Funeral services for Rosa Huff Bradley will be conducted Thursday, September 20, 2001, at 1:00 p.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, Ky., with the Regular Baptist ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Bradley Cemetery, Wayland, Ky., under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Ky.
Visitation is after 5 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Samuel Gordon Meade
Samuel Gordon Meade, age 76, of Ligon, Ky., husband of Virginia Newsome Meade, passed away Friday, September 14, 2001, in the McDowell Appalachian Regional Hospital, McDowell, Ky. He was born February 26, 1925, in Ligon, Ky., the son of Hattie Martin Meade Mitchell, Ligon, Ky., and the late Albert Meade. Mr. Meade was a retired postmaster, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the National Association of Postmasters.
In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by one son, William R. Meade, Georgetown, Ind.; two daughters, Patricia Rose, Danville, Ky., and Pamela Meade, Ligon, Ky.; two sisters, Alma Jean Meade, Melvin, Ky., and Alberta Burns, Jeffersonville, Ind.; two grandchildren, Lisa Rose, Frankfort, Ky., and Jessica Meade, Ligon, Ky.
Funeral services for Samuel Gordon Meade were conducted Monday, September 17, 2001, at 1:30 p.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, Ky., with the Elder Vernon Rose officiating. Burial followed in The Burton Cemetery, Ligon, Ky., under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Ky.
Visitation was at the funeral home.

Paul Douglas Salyers
Paul Douglas Salyers, age 57, of Prestonsburg, Ky., died Sunday, September 9, 2001. Born August 30, 1944, to Sadie Salyers and Woodrow Salyers, of Prestonsburg.
He is survived by two daughters, Dawn Sullivan, of Dana, Ky., and Sandy Westfall, of Belleville, Mich.; five grandchildren, Dalton Sullivan, Leah Westfall, Chelsey Westfall, Bryan Westfall, and Kyle Bell; and one brother, Charles Ray Salyers, of Auxier, Ky.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Woody Salyers and Gene Salyers.
Funeral services for Paul Douglas Salyers were conducted Wednesday, September 13, 2001, at 2:00 p.m., at the Carter Funeral Home, Prestonsburg, Ky. Interment followed at the West Prestonsburg Cemetery.
Pallbearers were James Sullivan, Chip Salyers, Lloyd Hall, Bill Bell, Tim Hicks, and Ronald George.
Honorary Pallbearers were Dee Jamison, Garland Snyder, and Derek Hicks.
