Dorothy Hall, 84, of Marion, Ohio, died Monday, February 25, 2002, at the Marion General Hospital.
Born March 13, 1917, in Wheelwright, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Georgie Woods and Mary Branham Woods. She was a homemaker and a member of the Wheelwright Freewill Baptist Church.
She had been a resident of Marion for 18 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marlin Hall, who died January 24, 1988. (They were married
September 12, 1931, in Prestonsburg, Ky.)
Survivors include two daughters, Alpha Dean (Wyman) Woods and Adalene (Jay Jr.) Little, both of Marion, Ohio; three sons, Palmage (Delores) Hall of Palm Coast, Florida, Ronald T. (Sherry) Hall of Marion, Ohio, and Danny R. (Lillian) Hall of Jacksonville, Florida; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Gene Hall, one grandson, Randy K. Hall and one brother, Darwin Woods.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 1, 2002, at 1 p.m., at the Hall Funeral Home in Martin, Ky., with Rev. Louie Ferrari officiating.
Burial will be in Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel, Ky., under the direction of Hall Funeral Home.
Arrangements in Marion, Ohio, were by Boyd Funeral Home.
Visitation is at Hall Funeral Home, Martin.

Samuel Clarence Stephens
Samuel Clarence Stephens, age 88, of Martin, Ky., husband of Dixie Hicks Stephens, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2002, at the Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg, Ky.
He was born March 12, 1913, in Caney Fork, Martin, Ky., the son of the late Thomas Stephens and Mary Tussey Stephens. Mr. Stephens was a retired coal miner, a member of the UMWA, and John W. Hall Lodge 950, F&AM, Martin, Ky.
Survivors include his wife, Dixie Hicks Stephens; three sons, Thomas (Ginny) Stephens of Richmond, Va., James (Linda) Stephens of Martin, Ky., Randall (Debbie) Stephens of Paintsville, Ky.; one daughter, Norma Workman of Coshocton, Oh.; three brothers, Rufus Stephens of Martin, Ky., Ruben Stephens and Ed Stephens, both of Prestonsburg, Ky.; three sisters, Alice Prater of David, Ky., Alva (Orville) Ousley of Prestonsburg, Ky., Dorothy Reffitt of Rochester, In., 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Grover Stephens; and two brothers, Curt and Darb Stephens.
Funeral services for Samuel Clarence Stephens will be conducted Saturday, March 2, 2002, at 12:00 noon, at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, Ky., with Clergyman Lori Vannucci officiating.
Burial will follow in the Stephens Cemetery, Caney Fork, Martin, Ky., under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home.
Visitation is at the funeral home.
Anna Mae Hall Stumbo
Anna Mae Hall Stumbo, 94, of McDowell, Ky., died Wednesday, February 27, 2002, following an extended illness.
Born on September 19, 1909, at McDowell, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Durran Hall and Mary Spradlin Hall. She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Beaver Old Regular Baptist Church, at Minnie, Ky.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Stumbo.
Survivors include three daughters, Eleanor Pack of Drift, Ky., Kathleen Prater, and Betty Rae Akers, both of McDowell, Ky.; one brother, Willie F. Hall of Mason, Ohio; three sisters, Edna Sizemore of Prestonsburg, Ky., Jeanie Frisco of Louisville, Ky., and Betty Valone of Columbus, Ohio; 28 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren, .
She was preceded in death by three sons, Walter Stumbo, Charles Edward Stumbo, and Bill Kit Stumbo; one daughter, Madeline Schmitz; two brothers, Earl Hall, Verman Hall, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 2, 2002, at 11 a.m., at the Old Beaver Old Regular Baptist Church, Minnie, Ky., with ministers of the Old Regular Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will be in the Lucy Hall Cemetery, McDowell, Ky., under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, Ky.
Visitation is after 6 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home, and after 10 a.m., Friday, at the Old Beaver Old Regular Baptist Church, at Minnie, Ky.
Thursday night services were conducted by Harry Hargus and Ted Shannon.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

William Hite Martin
William Hite Martin, age 90, of Garrett, Ky., husband of the late Nora Stephens Martin, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2002, at the Oakmont Manor Nursing Home, Flatwoods, Kentucky.
He was born April 25, 1911, in Garrett, Ky., the son of the late Leek Martin and Kate Estep Martin. Mr. Martin was a retired Kentucky State Utilities Worker and a veteran of World War II, and served in the Phillippines. He was in the Battle of Luzon, and was awarded the Bronze Star.
Survivors include two sons, William H. Martin Jr., of Prestonsburg, Ky., Robert O. Martin of Russell, Ky.; and two grandchildren, Natalie Martin and Tiffany Martin.
Funeral services for William Hite Martin will be conducted Thursday, February 28, 2002, at 11:00 a.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, Kentucky.
Burial will follow in the Tom Martin Cemetery, Garrett, Ky., under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home.
Willis R. Slone
Willis R. Slone, 64, of Columbus, Ohio, died Saturday, February 16, 2002, at Mt. Carmel/St. Ann’s Hospital.
Born January 23, 1938, in Floyd County, he was the son of Ida Pritchard of Dwale, Kentucky, and the late L.C. Slone.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Slone.
Other survivors include two sons, Allen Slone and Carl R. Slone; and three grandchildren; three brothers, Larry Slone of Carroll, Ohio; James Slone of Youngtown, Arizona; and Randy Slone of Martin, Kentucky; seven sisters, Naomi Wampler of Lancaster, Ohio; Loma Fain of Pickerington, Ohio; Bernice Akers of Norfolk, Virginia; Joe Ann Jones of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Margarett McKinley of Galloway, Ohio; Mary Slone of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; and Judy Kendrick of Prestonsburg, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Slone and Roger Slone; and two sisters, Rosa Slone and Loretta Blair.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 20, 2002, at the John Quint & Sons Funeral Home, with pastor Roy Hutchinson presiding.
Burial was at the Union Evangelical Cemetery.
William (Bill) Darby
William (Bill) Darby, 82, of Cow Creek, Prestons-burg, Ky., died Friday, February 22, 2002, at Highlands Regional Medical Center.
He was born September 6, 1919, in Emma, Ky., the son of the late John Darby and Virgie Woods Darby. He was former owner of State Wide Press, Prestonsburg, Ky.; a former teacher at Alice Lloyd College, Pippa Passes, Ky.; a graduate of Alice Lloyd College; a member of Cow Creek Freewill Baptist Church and Sunday school teacher for 47 years; and Navy WW II veteran, stationed in the sea of Japan.
He is survived by his wife, Eunice Jarrell Darby of Prestonsburg.
Other survivors include two sons, Martin Keith Darby (Sandy) of Prestonsburg, Bill Jack Darby (Debby) of Prestonsburg; a daughter, Lynn Holland Darby of Prestonsburg; four brothers, Larce Darby (Louise) of Enon, Ohio, Joe Darby (Rose) of N. Union, Ohio, Thomas Darby (Mildred) of Xenia, Ohio, Huey (Erlene) Darby of Prestonsburg; four sisters, Lucy Waddles of Prestonsburg, Christine (Linzie) Hunt of Prestonsburg, Arizona Jarrell of Panama City, Fla., Hazel Mae (Hi) Blackburn of Oceana, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Jackie Howard of Salyersville, Beth Arnett of Prestonsburg, Mikka Franklin and Chris Darby, both of Winchester; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Darby; one brother, John Lee Darby and one sister, Geraldine Hunt.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, February 24, 2002, at 10 a.m., at the Cow Creek Freewill Baptist Church, with Rev. Nathan Lafferty officiating.,
Interment was in the Darby Family Cemetery (Cow Creek), Prestonsburg, under direction of Carter Funeral Home, Prestonsburg.

Manuel H. Westfall
Manuel H. Westfall, 78, of Mesa, AZ, formerly of Allen, KY, died January 2, 2002, at his home in Mesa.
He was born June 16, 1924, at Buckingham, KY, the son of the late Ben S. and Golda Caudill Westfall.
He retired from Ford Motor Co., River Rouge, MI, and was a World War II, U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Third Army under the command of General George Patton in Central Europe. He was awarded the Bronze Star for the Central European Theatre and was a member of Red Mountain United Methodist Church, Mesa, AZ, where he served faithfully until his death.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Westfall, his first wife, Julia Westfall, and one brother, Forest S. Westfall.
He is survived by his wife, Flora Westfall of Mesa, AZ; one brother, Thomas L. Westfall (Berniece) of Ivel, KY; one sister, Mary E. Connor of Mercer, WI; three nephews, Thomas L. Westfall Jr. (Sheila) of Ivel, KY; Mark A. Westfall, (Peggy) of Harold, KY; Michael Taylor (Joan), of Round Lake, IL; four nieces, Mary W. Holbrook (Tim) of Banner, KY; Cathy Peters (Gerald) of Monroe, OH; Ruth Ann Edwards of Louisville, KY; and Karen Pronath of Manitowish Waters, WI.
Celebration of Life Memorial services were held Thursday, January 17, 2002, at Red Mountain United Methodist Church, of Mesa, AZ, with the Reverend Daniel A. Turner, the Rev. Jeanne Festa, and the Reverend Herb Osman officiating.
Entombment was at Desert Haven Columbarium in Mesa, AZ.
Tracy Hall
Tracy Hall, 46, of Meally, Ky., formerly of Floyd County, passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2002, following a brief illness.
He was born on November 11, 1955, at McDowell, Ky., the son of the late Willie and Stella Osborne Hall.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Irene Hall Hamilton and Vernie Hall and Loretta Martin; and one brother, Carl Hall.
He is survived by seven brothers, Paul Ray, Raymond and Glen Hall, all of Marion, Ohio, Rex Hall of Willard, Ohio, Clayton Hall of Warsaw, Indiana, Benny Hall of Elkhart Indiana, Ernest Hall of Paintsville, Ky.; three sisters, Rosalee Martin of Drift, Ky., Judy Newsome of Warsaw, Indiana, and Aleane Springer of Marion, Ohio.
Services were officiated by J.M. Scott and Eugene Stambaugh with burial following at Lake View Memorial Cemetery at Staffordsville, Ky., on February 9, 2002.
