Mae Bentley, age 85, of Buckhannon, WV, died Monday, February 18, 2002, at her home.
Born February 11, 1917, in Paintsville, Ky., she was the daughter of the late George Lyons and Liddy Margarite Nelson Lyons. She was a homemaker and a member of the Free Will Baptist Church, Lackey, Ky.
She was preceded in death on April 24, 1987, by her husband, Jeff Pat Bentley, whom she married, February 17, 1934.
Survivors include two sons, Clarence Bentley and Pat Bentley Jr., both of Buckhannon, WV; three daughters, Patricia Long of Parsons, WV, Phyllis Andrews, and Linda Brown, both of Buckhannon, WV; two brothers, Roy Lyons of Gilbertsville, KY., and Ray Lyons of Kansas City, MO; one sister, Edna Pinney of Willis, MI; 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George Lyons and Liddy Margarite Lyons; four sons, Elmer Bentley, Carl Bentley, Bobby Joe Bentley, and Redford Bentley; three daughters, Betty Lou Bentley, Eunice Fay Bentley, and Lillian Bentley; two brothers, Richard Lyons and Junior Lyons; three sisters, Zella Killevrew, Estaleen Rister, and Pauline Lyons.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 22, 2002, at 1:00 p.m., at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Inc., with Rev. Frank Long officiating.
Burial will be in the Upshur County Memorial Park, in Buckhannon, WV.
Visitation was at the funeral home.
Eddie Shelton
Eddie Shelton, age 92, of Drift, Ky., husband of the late Nellie Martin Shelton, passed away Friday, February 15, 2002, at his residence.
He was born June 12, 1909, in Boyd County, Ky., the son of the late Charlie Shelton and Mary McSurley Shelton. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the United Mine Workers Association.
Survivors include six sons, Russell Shelton, Teddy Shelton and Eddie Clark Shelton, all of McDowell, Ky., Bobby Ray Shelton of Elkhart, In., Cecil Shelton of Ligon, Ky., and Pat Shelton of Versailles, Ky.; seven daugthers, Alberta Shannon, Georgia Faye Kidd, Diana Price and Teresa Harris, all of Drift, Ky., Bernadine Schrader of Auxier, Ky., Emogene Jones and Mary Combs, both of McDowell, Ky.; three brothers, Estil Shelton, Eugene Shelton and Chester Shelton, all of Drift, Ky., 40 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, and 28 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and second wife, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lillie Lafferty Shelton.
Funeral services for Eddie Shelton were conducted Monday, February 18, 2002, at 11:00 a.m., at the Drift Pentecostal Church, Drift, Ky., with Clergyman Ted Shannon officiating.
Burial was in the Drift Cemetery, Drift, Ky., under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky.
Visitation was at the church.
Pallbearers: Russell Shelton Jr., Ricky Kidd, Shannon Price, Daniel Combs, Johnny Ray Pack, Randy Jones and Keith Shelton.
John Gordon Goble
John Gordon Goble, 67, of Cow Creek, Ky., died Monday, February 18, 2002, following an extended illness.
Born on February 3, 1935, at Emma, Ky., he was the son of the late Bradis and Sally Burchett Goble. He was a self-employed, Goble Lumber Co.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Pauley Goble.
Other survivors include one son, John B. (LaDonna) Goble of Prestonsburg, Ky.; two daughters, Sandra (Harry) Burchett of Nicholasville, Ky., and Angela (Eric) Duncan of Lexington, Ky.; and four grandchildren, Michael Burchett, Logan Burchett, Lexi Goble, and Andie Duncan.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 20, 2002, at 11 a.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, Ky., with Ted Shannon officiating.
Burial will be in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel, Ky., under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Visitation is at the funeral home.

Tom Wright
Tom Wright, age 68, of Prestonsburg, Ky., passed away Monday, February 18, 2002, at the Prestonsburg Health Care Center Nursing Home in Prestonsburg, Ky., after a brief illness.
He was born June 10, 1933, in Prestonsburg, Ky., a son of the late Jim and Letha (Conley) Wright. He was a volunteer Floyd County Deputy Sheriff.
He was married
to Ruth (Howell) Wright who preceded him in death.
He is survived by two step-sons, Mr. Franklin Howell of Ohio, and Mr. Herbert Howell of Portland, Ind.; three brothers, Mr. Bill Wright of Leesburg, Ind., Mr. James Wright, and Mr. Edgar Wright, both of Prestonsburg, Ky.; six sisters, Mrs. Florine Tippie, and Mrs. Susie Lyons, both of Lima, Ohio, Mrs. Jane Hicks, and Mrs. Margaret Roberts, and Mrs. Martha Lester, all of North Manchester, Ind., and Mrs. Lora Whitaker of Warsaw, Ind.; 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 20, 2002, at 1 p.m., from the Burke Funeral Home Chapel at Prestonsburg, Ky., with Brother James Spears and Brother Claude Justice officiating.
Burial will follow in the Richmond Memorial Cemetery at Prestonsburg, Ky.
Visitation is at the funeral home.

Ruby Crisp Blankenship
Ruby Crisp Blankenship, 75, of Wayland, Ky., died Monday, December 24, 2001, following an extended illness.
Born on November 8, 1926, at Lackey, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Jim Owsley and Susan Music Owsley. She was a homemaker and a member of the Estill Freewill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Earnest Crisp, and her second husband, Paris Blankenship.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis Franklin Crisp of Topmost, Ky., and Terry Wayne Crisp of Wayland, Ky.; one daughter, Gwendolyn Sue Hall of Pound, Virginia; one brother, Walter Owsley of Raleigh, N.C.; three sisters, Margaret Gibson of Stollings, W.Va., Reba Rhodes of Pecks Mills, W.Va., and Ruth Lafferty of Hamden, Oh., seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Earnest Crisp Jr.; two brothers, Russell Owsley, and Frank Owsley.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, December 26, 2001, at 11 a.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, Ky., with James (Red) Morris, and others, officiating.
Burial was in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel, Ky., under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.

Paris Hayes, age 90, of Dayton, Ohio, died Saturday, February 16, 2002, at Reid Hospital, Richmond, IN.
Paris was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Roseanne (Bentley) Hayes; wife, Lona Etta (McClellan) Hayes, and other family members. He was retired from Chrysler Air Temp.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Edward Petersen of Dayton; son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Mary Hayes of Lewisburg; step-sons and daughter-in-law, Gus and Marietta Elliott of Dayton, Olin Elliott of Martin, Ky.; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Violet Hays of Kettering; grandchildren, Robert Fulton, Heather Fannin, Patricia Fulton, Timothy Hayes and Andrea Hayes, Steven Yates and Christina Yates, great-grandson, Chance Fannin; step-grandchildren, Gus Elliott Jr., Wiley Herman Elliott, Robert Elliott, Lonice Elliott and Andy Elliott, also numerous relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Tuesday, February 19, at 2:00 p.m., at Terebinski Funeral Home, 11900 N. Dixie Dr., Butler Twp., with Rev. Forrest Jackson officiating.
Interment was in Forest Hills Cemetery.

Genevieve Tackett Hall
Genevieve Tackett Hall, age 61, of Grethel, Ky, widow of William J. “Bill” Hall, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2002, at her residence.
She was born November 22, 1940, in McDowell, Ky., the daughter of the late Wilburn Lee Tackett and Maxie Newsome Tackett. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pilgrim Home Regular Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Vicky Blackburn of Millard, Ky., Linda McClanahan and Brenda Mitchell, both of Grethel, Ky., and Debbie Martin of Teaberry, Ky.; four brothers, Bert Tackett and Carl Tackett, both of Hillsboro, S.C., Edgar Tackett of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Rex Tackett of Georgia; two sisters, Barbara Hall of Grethel, Ky., and Alpha Strouth of North Carolina; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Tackett; two sisters, Gerline Overton and Carol Bennett; and one grandchild, Justin Martin.
Funeral services for Genevieve Tackett Hall will be conducted Thursday, February 21, 2002, at 11 a.m., at the Pilgrim Home Regular Baptist Church, Grethel, Ky., with the Regular Baptist ministers officiating.
Burial will follow in the Hall Family Cemetery, Grethel, Ky., under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, Kentucky.
Visitation is at the church.
