Sula Patrick Harmon
June 30, 1917-April 28, 2003
Sula Patrick Harmon, age 85, and a resident of Prestonsburg, passed away, Monday, April 28, 2003, at Highlands Regional Medical Center.
Born June 30, 1917, in Magoffin County, she was the daughter of Steve Patrick and Betty Miller Patrick. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Highland Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, four brothers Ervin, Willie, Adis, and Jimmy; and six sisters, Elizia Hale, Stella Patrick, Nealius Prater, Kate Adams, Trudy Hackworth, and Bertha Reatherford, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Mack Harmon; a niece, Lorraine P. Howard, when at the age of four, was taken in by Sula, and raised as her own daughter. Lorraine and her husband, Darrell I, Howard, now reside in Salyersville; three granddaughters, Trena Holbrook of Prestonsburg, Regina Kennard of Salyersville, and Linnea Lovely of Salyersville; six great-grandchildren, Bryan, Kevin and Amanda Powers, Alana Gallion, Mickaylyn and Landynn Roark; two great-granddaughters, Brooklyn and Jadien Gallion, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Thursday, May 1, 2003, at 1 p.m., at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Prestonsburg, with Clifford Austin officiating.
Burial will follow at the Richmond Cemetery in Prestonsburg.
Friends can call or stop by, Wednesday, from noon until 9 p.m.
Carter Funeral Home is serving the Harmon family.

Radie Howard
Radie Howard, age 71, of Gunlock, husband of Ruby Jane Shepherd Howard, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2003, at his residence.
He was born September 13, 1931, in Gunlock, the son of the late Willis Howard and Aggie Ousley Howard. He was a retired coal miner and deacon at the Old Salt Lick United Baptist Church, at Gunlock.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include five sons, Garland (Judy) Howard, Kenny (Karen) Howard, and Jeffery (Rhonda) Howard, all of Gunlock, Darvin (Janet) Howard of Oil Springs, and Timothy (Diane) Howard of Salyersville; one daughter, Miranda Sue (Thomas) Tussey of David; eleven grandchildren, Elizabeth Howard, Amanda Risner, Stephanie Howard, Nathan Howard, Kayla Howard, Joshua Howard, Justin Howard, Johnathan Howard, James Howard, Tommie Tussey and Olivia Howard; three great-grandchildren, Stelson Risner, Kenton Risner, and Brooklyn Risner; two sisters, Edith Shepherd of Gunlock, and Thelma Conn of Dana.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Donald Howard, Franklin Howard, Cledith Howard and Willis Howard Jr.
Funeral services for Radie Howard will be conducted Wednesday, April 30, at 11 a.m., at the Brushy Fork Missonary Baptist Church, at Gunlock, with Clergymen Bethel Bolen, Boone Allen, and Wilson Slone officiating.
Burial will follow in the Brushy Bill Cemetery, at Gunlock, under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin.
Visitation is at the church.

Corinne Allen Hill
Corinne Allen Hill, 81, of Scott Depot, West Virginia, died Sunday, April 27, 2003, at Broadmore Assisted Living.
Born July 15, 1921, in Columbus, Ohio, she was the daughter of John Alban Allen and Ruth Clark Allen. She was a homemaker and a member of the Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lon Clay Hill, on October 5, 2000.
Survivors include one daughter, Florence Allen Hill McNeeley of 131 Beechwood Estates, Scott Depot, West Virginia; five sons, Lon Clay Hill Jr. of Miramar, Florida, John Alban Hill of Lake City, Florida, Joseph Davidson Hill of Batavia, Ohio, Thomas Clark Hill of Cincinnati, Ohio, and James Edward Hill of Huntington, West Virginia; nine grandchildren, Jeremiah Suti Hill, John Carter Jarrell, Jason Louchery Hill, Duncan Lambert Hill, Larry Clay McNeely II, Corinne Elizabeth McNeely, Mary Katherine McNeely, and Ethan James Hill.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 1, at 3 p.m., at Richmond Memorial Cemetery, Prestonsburg, with Rev. Mark Walz officiating.
Visitation is Thursday, 1:30 p.m., until 2:30 p.m., at the funeral home.
Carter Funeral Home is serving the Hill family.

Jeffrey W. Osborne
Jeffrey W. Osborne, age 42, of Louisville, formerly of Floyd County, passed away Friday, April 25, 2003, at Norton Suburban Hospital.
He was the son of Ann Osborne and the late Leo Osborne. He was a manager of Community Home Medical Supply, a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Kentucky Humane Society.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by one brother, Ken (Jennie) Osborne; his grandmother, Lucy E. Wright; two nieces, and one nephew; and a good friend, Marilyn Whisler.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Leo Osborne.
Graveside services will be conducted Thursday, May 1, at 10 a.m., at the Buckingham Cemetery, in Bevinsville, under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin.
Visitation is from 7 p.m., till 9 p.m., Wednesday, April 30, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial gifts to the Kentucky Humane Society.

Geraldine (Geri) Howell
Geraldine (Geri) Howell, 55, of McDowell, died Sunday, April 27, 2003, at her residence.
Born February 19, 1948, in Hi Hat, she was the daughter of Margaret Gearheart Meade of McDowell, and the late Bart T. Meade. She was a homemaker, a member of the Primitive Baptist Church, and attended the Drift Pentecostal Church.
She is survived by her husband, Edward (Eddie) Howell.
Other survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, David Edward and April Howell of McDowell; a daughter, Debra Linnette Howell of McDowell; a brother, Ted Meade of Louisville; five sisters, Ann Hasch and Vivian Hall, both of Louisville, Dora Lee Ward and Glea Ward, both of Chilicothe, Ohio; and Pat Newman of McDowell; and two granddaughters, Amber Nikole and Abigail Breanna.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 30, at 1 p.m., at the Drift Pentecostal Church, with Ted Shannon and Ruford Howell officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenbury Hall Cemetery, (Frasures Creek), at McDowell, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin.
Visitation is at the church.

Luberta Hall Tackett
Luberta Hall Tackett, 57, of Beaver, died Thursday, April 24, 2003, at the McDowell Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Born November 18, 1945, in Beaver, she was the daughter of the late Dewey and Ella Mae Bentley Hall. She was a homemaker, and attended Little Rosa Regular Baptist Church of McDowell.
She is survived by her husband, Virgil Tackett Sr. of Beaver.
Other survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Virgil Jr. and Margie Tackett of Beaver; a daughter and son-in-law, Helena and Oley Hall Jr., of Beaver; three brothers, Dewey Hall Jr. of Flemingsburg, Virbil Hall of McDowell, and Willie D. Hall of Beaver; three sisters, Clara Hamilton of Teaberry, June Helen Newhouse of River Rouge, Michigan; and Edith Marie Hamilton of Galveston; and four grandchildren, Jennifer Lewis, Austin Hall, Joan Conley, and Isabella Hall.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Eugene Hall, Carl Edward Hall, Billy J. Hall and an infant brother; two sisters, Shirley Mae Caudill, and an infant sister.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 27, at 1 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home in Martin, with Regular Baptist ministers officiating.
Burial will be in the Hall Family Cemetery (Tackett Fork) at Beaver, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Visitation is at the funeral home.

Andy Kiser Jr.
Andy Kiser Jr., 77, of Beaver, died Wednesday, April 23, at Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg.
Born February 4, 1926, in Teaberry, he was the son of the late Andy and Hulda Hamilton Kiser. He was a disabled coal miner and a member of Little Rosa Regular Baptist Church at McDowell.
He is survived by his wife, Margie Tackett Kiser.
Other survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Daylio and Patty Kiser of Howe, Indiana, Andy Jay and Cathy Kiser of Bronson, Michigan, and Zachary Kiser of Teaberry; a daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Jeff Brown of Beaver; two brothers, Leonard Kiser of Bypro and Vernon Kiser on Mongo, Indiana; three sisters, Alma Doris Newsome of Beaver, Alpha Blankenship of Hudson, Indiana; and Arizona Blankenship of LaGrange, Indiana; eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Troy Kiser, Arlie Kiser, Cecil Kiser and Palmer Kiser.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 27, at 11 a.m., at the Little Rosa Regular Baptist Church at McDowell, with Regular Baptist ministers officiating.
Burial will be in the Kiser Family Cemetery at Beaver, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin.
Visitation was Friday, April 25, at 6 p.m., and Saturday, at the funeral home in Martin, with nightly services; and on Sunday at the church.

Diane Lynn Spurlock
Diane Lynn Dingus Spurlock, age 45, of Allen, wife of Don Keith Spurlock, passed away Monday, April 21, 2003, at the Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg.
She was born February 14, 1958, in McDowell, the daughter of the late Bill “Crush” Dingus and Linda Stumbo Tussey of Columbus, Ohio. She was the stepdaughter of Raymond Tussey of Columbus, Ohio.
She was a counselor for the Prestonsburg Juvenile Detention Center, and had devoted most of her life to underprivileged children. She operated a home for runaway children in Stanville, and most recently, worked at the Carl D. Perkins Job Corps Center.
In addition to her husband, mother, and stepfather, she is survived by one son, David E. Cline II, of Ashville, Ohio; one step-son, James Donald Spurlock of Allen; one daughter, Gina Nicole Justus of Columbus, Ohio; four brothers, Bobby Dingus and Billy Dingus, both of Martin, and Steve Tuttle and Larry Collins, both of Columbus, Ohio; and one grandson, Brandon Daniel Justus.
Funeral services for Diane Lynn Spurlock will be conducted Friday, April 25, at 11 a.m;, at the Hall Funeral Home, Martin, with Clergyman Arnold Turner Jr., officiating.
Burial will follow in the Highlands Memorial Gardens, Staffordsville, under the professional care of Hall Funeral Home.
Visitation is at the funeral home.
