Elizabeth Darnell Collins Crum, 38, of Printer, died Wednesday, April 23, 2003, in Martin, following an extended illness.
She was born July 28, 1964, in Floyd County, the daughter of Vivian McKinney Collins of Printer, and Tommy Collins of Drift. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Scottie Crum.
Survivors, other than her parents, include her stepmother, Darlene Collins, of Drift; three sons, Eric Crum and Steven Howard, both of Printer, and Silas Crum of Martin; three daughters, Rayne Crum of Lancer, Erica Crum of Printer, and Katlin Collins, of Drift; two brothers, James Collins and Charles Collins, both of Printer; a sister, Sandra Meade of Printer; two step-sisters, Belinda Bailey and Stacy Castle; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 25, at 1 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin, with Barry Spurlock and Bishop Ken Carriere officiating.
Burial will be in the Drift Cemetery at Drift, under direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Visitation is at the funeral home.
Kenneth Edward Hutchinson
Kenneth Edward Hutchinson, age 86, of Wayland, husband of June Ann Hutchinson, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2003, at the Kindred Hospital, Louisville.
He was born April 1, 1917, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Edward Malin Hutchinson and Bertha Fritz Hutchinson.
He was a retired Air Force senior master sargent. He served in World War II and in the Korean Conflict. He received the following awards and decorations during his military service: WW II Victory Medal, Air Medal, AF Commendation Medal, AF Longevity Service Award ribbon with one silver oak leaf cluster, AF Outstanding Unit Award, Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, (Air Force and Army) with one Silver Loop, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with silver service star, Army of Occupation Medal with Germany, National Defense Service Medal with one bronze service star, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Republic Korean Presidential Unit Citation, and the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship ribbon.
Survivors, in addition to his wife include; four sons, Donee White and his wife, Patama of Wayland, Dennis Lee White and his wife, Lori of Kissimmee, Florida, Michael T. White, and David White, both of Wayland, and one brother, Donald Hutchinson of Muncie Pennsylvaia; two step-grandchildren, Katrina and Jason White of Michigan.
Visitation for Kenneth Edward Hutchinson were from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, and from 2 p.m., to 4 p.m., Sunday, at Hall Funeral Home, with burial and final services at the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.
Sharon Burke Robinson
Sharon Burke Robinson, 37, of Deane, died Tuesday, April 8, in an ATV accident.
Born January 25, 1966, at Chicago, Illinois, she was a daughter of Evelyn Fields Burke of Beattyville, and the late Joe Burke Sr. She was a caregiver and college student.
She is survived by her husband, Christopher and Kenneth Robinson.
Other survivors include a son, Mark Anthony Mullins of Deane; a step-son, Cody Robinson; a daughter, Clarissa Lynn Mullins of Deane; and three brothers, Joe Burke Jr. of Ermine, Kenneth Wayne Burke and James David Burke II, both of Beattyville.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, April 11, 1 p.m., at Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, with Danny Quillen officiating.
Burial was in Martin Cemetery, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Fannie Newman
Fannie Newman, age 78, of Lexington, formerly of Floyd County, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2003, at Saint Joseph Hospital, Lexington.
She was born September 20, 1924, in Beaver, a daughter of the late Ben Tackett and Martha Jane Tackett. She was a retired Aramark Company employee, and a former member of the Teamsters Union, Local No. 651, Lexington.
Survivors include two daughters, Sherry Lea Hughes of Indianapolis, Indiana, Debra Lynn Newman of Lexington; one sister, Mae Howell of Londonderry, Ohio; one grandson, Byron Hughes and one great-granddaughter, Hannah Michelle Hughes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Curt Tackett and Jim Tackett; six sisters, Viola Bailey, Mellie Moore, Hannah Meade, Cora Booth, Mary Hall, and Ella Burgey.
Funeral services for Fannie Newman will be conducted Wednesday, April 16, at 11 a.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with Regular Baptist ministers officiating.
Burial will follow in the Newman Cemetery, at Hi Hat, under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home, Martin.
Visitation is at the funeral home.
Pearl Allen Lee
Pearl Allen Lee, of Baker Court, Richmond, widow of H.G. Lee, died Sunday, April 13, 2003, at St. Joseph East Hospital in Lexington. She was a retired bookkeeper.
She was the beloved mother of William H. (Sharon) Lee of Negaunee, Michigan, Troy A. (Cynthia) Lee of Nicholasville, James A. (Mary Ann) Lee of Winchester, and Gary (Brenda) Miller of DeForest, Wisconsin. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Michael “Jack” Lee; and one brother, Kendall Allen.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 16, at 1 p.m., at the Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, in Richmond, with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints officiating.
Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, and granddaughters.
Visitation is at the funeral home.
Thomas Lloyd Spradlin
Thomas Lloyd Spradlin, 78, of Ada, Ohio, died Monday, April 14, 2003, at St. Rita’s Hospital in Lima, Ohio.
Born December 5, 1924, in Prestonsburg, he was the son of the late Thomas A. and Laura A. (Spradlin) Spradlin.
He was first married
to Opal J. Ray on September 27, 1943, and she died on April 23, 1979. He later married
Jospehine Hackworth Cheney on May 1, 1981, and she died July 30, 1997.
He retired, after 38 years, from Ford Motor Company of Lima, where he worked as a millwright. He was a member of the Ada Masonic Lodge No. 344, F&AM, a member of UAW Local 1219 retirees of Lima, Ohio; and a life member of the Ada VFW Post 9381. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, in the Pacific Theatre of Operations.
Survivors include two sons, Gary (Diane) Spradlin of Lima, Ohio, and Larry (Claudia) Spradlin of Ada, Ohio; two step-sons, Bill (Belinda) Cheney, and Ronnie (Brenda) Cheney, both of Ada, Ohio; one sister, June Spradlin Hall of Ada, Ohio; two grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 18, 1 p.m., at Hanson-Neeley Funeral Home, Ada, Ohio, with Rev. Gene Webb officiating.
Burial will be in the Preston Cemetery, Alger, Ohio.
Visitation will be at the funeral home, after 5 p.m., on Thursday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Arnold Hicks
Arnold Hicks, age 80, of David, husband of Nadine Hale Hicks, passed away Friday, April 11, 2003, in the Paul B. Hall Medical Center, Paintsville.
He was born February 19, 1923, in Hippo, the son of the late Dave Hicks and Ruby Allen Hicks. He was a member of the Emma Methodist Church, at Emma, a retired field worker for Inland Gas Company, and a U.S. Army, World War II veteran.
Survivors in addition to his wife, Nadine, include two daughters, Leora Hicks of David, and Melissa Hicks Allen of Prestonsburg; two brothers, Willis Hicks of Hippo, and Hargis Hicks of Xenia, Ohio; three sisters, Nora Ousley of Grass Lake, Michigan, Clara Hale of Hueysville, and Gladys Tussey of Utica, Ohio; two grandchildren, Rowdy Davis and Sarah Allen; and three great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Josh and Jordan Davis.
Funeral services for Arnold Hicks were conducted Monday, April 14, at 11 a.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with Clergyman Paul Aiken officiating.
Buriai was in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, at Ivel, under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home.
Visitation was at the funeral home.
