Betty Lou Little
Betty Lou Little, 65, of Wheelwright, died Thursday, April 3, 2003, at the Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg.
Born February 3, 1938, in Floyd County, she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Mary Belle Collins Little. She was a mother and homemaker.
Survivors include four sons and their wives, David (Chip) Jr., and Teresa Little of Bypro, Joe and Lora Little of Neon, Jerry and Sandra Little of Carlisle, and Steve and Tonja Little of Prestonsburg; a daughter and her husband, Janet Renee and Kevin Moore of Cynthiana; a sister, Dora Sue Barnette of Columbus, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, Kacie Jo, Tara Lynn, Toni, Melissa, Tobie Jo, Brandon, David, Justin, Kristen and Steven.
In addition to her parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Clyde Little, John Little, Bobby Sam Little and Edsel Ray Little.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, April 6, at 1 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home in Martin, with Ellis Holbrook, Chuck Hall, and others, officiating.
Burial was in the Little-Hall Cemetery at Wheelwright.
Visitation was at the funeral home.

Paul Hicks
Paul Hicks, 33, of Garrett, died Saturday, April 5, 2003, at Our Lady of the Way Hospital.
Born December 22, 1969, in Floyd County, he was the son of Lawrence and Roxie Whitaker Hicks. He was a disabled tool dresser.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Crider Hicks.
In addition to his wife, and parents, he is survived by one son, Mike McGuire of Prestonsburg; one daughter, Khayla Crider of Hueysville; one brother, Brent Hicks of Hueysville; one sister, Michelle Handshoe of Hueysville; two grandsons, James Michael McGuire and Nathaniel Ralph McGuire; his grandmothers, Madge Hicks of Hueysville, and Armine Whitaker of Magoffin County.
In addition to his grandfathers, Rex Hicks and Alan Whitaker, he was preceded in death by one son, Paul Blake Hicks.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 9, at 2 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, with Jimmy Hall, and others, officiating.
Burial will be in the Hicks Family Cemetery, at Garrett, under direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers: Brent Hicks, Tim Hicks, David Howard, Eric Conley, Jacolby Qualls, Perry Crider, Roger Crider, and Michael McGuire.
Honorary pallbearers: Belvra Crider, Brent Handshoe, Clarence Hicks, Jimmy Miller, Lawrence Hicks, Donald Collins, Brett Collins, Christian Collins, John McKinster, Jack Osborne, Rodney Osborne, Dusty Hale, B.J. Crider, and all employees of R & J Well Service.

George Hunt
George Hunt, 87, of Stanville, died Sunday, April 6, 2003, at Highlands Regional Medical Center.
Born December 20, 1915, in Floyd County, he was the son of the late John B. and Sarah Lewis Hunt. He was a coal miner.
He is survived by his wife, Eva Coline Newsome Hunt.
Other survivors include seven sons, Jimmy Hunt, Donald Hunt and Gregory Hunt, all of Stanville, Ronnie Hunt and LeRoy Hunt, both of Stanton, Bobby Hunt both of Tram, and Stevie Hunt of Harold; five daughters, Eula Mae Spradlin and Goldie Adkins, both of Stanville, Gustavia Lewis of Stanton, Alberta Bevins of Betsy Layne, and Magline Pinson of Harold; a brother, Harvey Hunt of Tram; three sisters, Ocie Pelphrey and Callie Cecil, both of Florida, and Ruby Hunt of Michigan; 31 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren, and nine step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, William Lee Hunt; three brothers, Roland Hunt, Thomas J. Hunt and John Henry Hunt; and two sisters, Laura Akers and Elavine Gunnels.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 10, at 11 a.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home in Martin, with Jack Hunt and Jim Smith officiating.
Burial will be in the Davidson Memorial Gardens at Ivel, under direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Visitation is at the funeral home.

Rickey D. Conley
Rickey D. Conley, 47, of Garrett, died Thursday, April 3, 2003, at the VA Medical Center, in Huntington, West Virginia.
He was born November 14, 1955, at Lackey, the son of Cloytene Daniels Conley of Lackey; and the late Neve Conley. He was a general laborer, and a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include a son, Rickey Steven Conley of Garrett; two daughters, Deona Renee Dobson of Vest, and Susan Denise Hamilton of Morehead; three brothers, Jeff Conley of Lima, Ohio, Melvin Conley of Wapakoneta, Ohio, and Jimmy Lee Conley of Lackey; two grandchildren, Justin Dwayne Slone, and April Renee Slone; and a special friend, Ray Owens of Garrett.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, April 6, at 11 a.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, with Regular Baptist ministers officiating.
Burial was in the Scott Cemetery, at Garrett, under direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Visitation was at the funeral home.

Johnny Darrell Allen
Johnny Darrell Allen, 31, of West Prestonsburg, died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at his residence.
Born April 5, 1971, in Prestonsburg, he was the son of Madeline Goble of West Prestonsburg. He was a disabled carpet layer.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his maternal grandmother, Nell Ruth Goble of Prestonsburg; two brothers, Raymond Allen Jr. of Bowling Green; and Robert Lee Craft of East Point; a niece, Carolyn Lucille Craft; and a nephew, Zachary Lewis Allen.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather and his paternal grandparents.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 2, at 11 a.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin, with Herman Roberts officiating.
Burial will be in the Auxier Relocation Cemetery, at Auxier, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Visitation is at the funeral home.

Kelsie R. Stapleton
Kelsie R. Stapleton, 77, of Dana, died Friday, March 28, 2003, at the Pikeville Healthcare.
Born March 12, 1926, at Rockhouse, she was the daughter of the late J. E. and Roxie Epling Rowe. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Stapleton.
Survivors include three sons, Terry Stapleton of Dana, Ronald Regan Stapleton of Alabama, and Charles Stapleton of Pickerington, Ohio; one daughter, Sherry Fitzer of Sheffield Lake, Ohio; a brother, Dale Rowe of Elkhorn City; two sisters, Carrie Smith of Vancouver, Washington, and Virgie Hardin of Hazel Park, Michigan; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Steve Stapleton; three brothers, Sterling Rowe, Otis Rowe, and Dave Rowe; and three sisters, Jettie Bowling, Thelma Mercier, and Roma Prater.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, March 31, at 11 a.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, with Clinard Ratliff officiating.
Burial was in the Davidson Memorial Gardens at Ivel, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Visitation was at the funeral home.

Charles “Red” Rainey
Charles Ray “Red” Rainey, age 75, of Britton Michigan, died March 29, 2003, at his residence in Britton.
He was born February 4, 1928, the son of John and Lilly (Smith) Rainey in Wheelwright, Kentucky.
He was married to Stella M. Hall, and she preceded him in death.
Survivors include one grandson, John Flint; three sisters Edna, Ruth, and Jean, all of Kentucky, and his mother-in-law, who was his best friend, Maggie Hall of Britton.
In addition to his wife, Stella, he was preceded in death by his parents; one son Charles R. Rainey Jr.; daughter Elizabeth Ann Flint; six sisters, and three brothers.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, at the Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, with the Rev. Richard Bruce officiating.
Interment was at Ridgeway Cemetery, Ridgeway, Michigan.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
