Evelyn Combs Griffie, age 88, of Milford, Ohio, formerly of McDowell, widow of Clyde Benton Griffie, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2003, in Anderson Mercy Hospital, Milford, Ohio.
She was born August 23, 1914, in Litt Carr, the daughter of the late John Riley Combs and Mary Turner Combs.
She was a retired post master at Orkney, (McDowell), and a member of the Joppa Old Regular Baptist Church since 1965.
Survivors include three sons, Charles Griffie of Milford, Ohio, Robert Griffie of Two Rivers, Wisconsin, and Frank Griffie of Lexington; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Belle Caudill.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, March 31, at 11 a.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with Regular Baptist ministers officiating.
Burial was in the Newman Cemetery, at Hi Hat, under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home.
Visitation was at the funeral home.
Pallbearers: Alan Griffie, Robert Caudill, Robert Griffie, Nick Griffie, and Larry Cury.
Gary Wayne Robinson
Gary Wayne Robinson, 39, of Printer, died Sunday, March 30, 2003, at Our Lady of the Way Hospital.
Born September 22, 1963, at McDowell, he was the son of the late Sam and Ella Miller Robinson. He was a disabled truck driver.
Survivors include one son, Jared Austin Robinson of Prestonsburg; one daughter, Ashleigh Erin Gari Robinson of Prestonsburg; three brothers, Sam Randall Robinson of Prestonsburg, Kennith Ray Robinson of Martin, and Paul Donald Robinson of Topmost; one sister, Shelby Tackett of Printer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Carolyn Sue Carroll.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 3, at 1 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin, with Mark Tackett officiating.
Burial will be in the Martin Cemetery, at Martin.
Visitation is at the funeral home.
Rev. Bill J. Pitts
Rev. Bill J. Pitts, age 71, of Columbus, died February 26, 2003, at Mt. Carmel West Medical Center. In the ministry for 44 years, he was founder and member of Greater Columbus Freewill Baptist Church. He was retired from Ohio Packing, and was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gloria Pitts, and father John K. Pitts. Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Pitts; son, Rev. William C. (Deborah) Pitts, Pastor of the Lancaster United Brethren Church; daughter, Sherry (John D.) Fleshman; step-daughters, Diana (Dale) Acree and Patricia (Thom) Driscoll; step-son, Gary (Gertie) Rowland; mother, Pearlie Ratliff; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; 6 step-grandchildren; brother, Eula (Wanda) Pitts.
The family received friends Friday, February 28, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Canaan Land Freewill Baptist Church, 2777 Gantz Rd., Grove City, where funeral services were held Saturday, March 1, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Eddy Reynolds officiating.
Interment was in Harrison Township Cemetery.

Oley Hall
Oley Hall, 61, of Beaver, died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at the McDowell Appalachian Regional Hospital emergency room.
Born December 10, 1941, in Floyd County, he was the son of the late Milford and Lillie Mae Bentley Hall.
He is survived by his wife, Lizzie Jane (Mae) Johnson Hall.
Other survivors include two sons and their wives, James Eddie and Lynnetta Hall, and Oley Jr., and Helena Hall, of Beaver; three daughters and their husbands, Janet and Marty Little, and Jeanene and James Hamilton, of Beaver, and Jennifer and Donald Salisbury of Harold; five brothers, Hillard Hall of Harold, Doley Hall, Okey Hall and Palmer Hall, all of Beaver, and Tivis Hall of Topmost; four sisters, Opal Johnson, Dona Flannery, Juanita Tackett, and Mildred Osborne, all of Beaver; 11 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Milford Hall Jr., and Tony Hall; and one sister, Arizona Hall.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 2, at 1 p.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home in Martin, with Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating.
Burial will be in the Hall Family Cemetery (Tackett Fork) in Beaver, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Visitation is at the funeral home.
Gladys Lee Hyden Wallen
Gladys Lee Hyden Wallen, 90, of Prestonsburg, died Friday, March 28, 2003, at Highlands Regional Medical Center.
Born June 14, 1912, in West Prestonsburg, she was the daughter of the late Chauncy Hyden and Clora Adams Hyden. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Assembly of God Church, West Prestonsburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hargis Wallen.
Survivors include one daughter, Lois Ann May (David) of Prestonsburg; three sons, James Douglas Hyden (Georgia) of Prestonsburg, William Hargis Wallen (Betty) of Louisville, and Jackie Wallen of Paintsville; one brother, Jesse Lee “Jack” Hyden (Doris) of Prestonsburg; three grandsons, David Franklin May II (Cheryl) of Allen, James Douglas Hyden II (Suzanne), of Prestonsburg, and Matthew Wallen of Louisville; two great-granddaughters, Amanda Lee May and Victoria Ann May, both of Allen.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, March 30, at 2 p.m., at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, Prestonsburg, with Rev. Lori Vannucci and Dr. Floyd Price officiating.
Interment was in the Wallen Family Cemetery, Prestonsburg.
Carter Funeral Home is serving the Wallen family.

Tennessee Crum
Tennessee Crum, 88, of Hippo, died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Our Lady of the Way Hospital, Martin.
Born April 8, 1914, in Roseann, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Sally Lou Justice Stacey. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Church of Jesus, in Grundy, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Christopher Columbus Stacey, and Wilson Crum.
Survivors include a son, Jeff Stacey of (Abbott) in Prestonsburg; three daughters, Laura Burchett of Hippo, Nelline Parigan and Pricie Jean Stiltner, both of Grundy, Virginia; three brothers, Boyd Stacey and Henry Stacey, both of Roseann, Virginia, and Estill Stacey of Grundy, Virginia; 21 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Ralph Stacey, Walter Stacey, Lee Stacey, Ernie Stacey and Virgil Stacey.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, April 1, at 1 p.m., at the Nelson Frazier Funeral Home in Martin, with William Jarrell and Gary Jarrell officiating.
Burial was in the Burchett Cemetery, at Cow Creek, in Prestonsburg.
Willard (Peewee) Sizemore
Willard (Peewee) Sizemore, 67, of Martin, Ky., died Monday, May 21, 2001, at Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg, Ky., following an extended illness.
Born on January 16, 1934, at Orkney, Ky., he was the son of the late Willie and Mollie Flannery Sizemore. He was a disabled sales clerk and was a member of the First Baptist Church at McDowell, Ky. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Johnnie Adams Sizemore.
Other survivors include two daughters, Tammy Lance and Ramona Terry, both of Martin, Ky.; two brothers, Larry Sizemore and Leonard Ray Sizemore, both of Ohio; four sisters, Daisy Vines of California, Della Jane Moore of Cheyene, Wyoming, Sarah Ellen Mitchell of Wheelwright, Ky., Martha Sue Hall of Martin, Ky.; and two grandchildren, Stacia Lance and Andrew Lance.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Millard Sizemore, and Bill Sizemore; and one sister, Dorothy Meadows.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, May 23, at 11 a.m., at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, Ky, with Mark Tackett officiating.
Burial will be in the Dingus Cemetery, Dinwood, Martin, Ky., under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
