Bobby Mosley, 36, of Hindman, died Thursday, December 21, 2000, at Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital, following an brief illness.
Born May 29, 1964, in Hindman, he was the son of Sheldon Mosley of Hindman, and Heasteen Stumbo Mosley of Stanford. He was a coal miner.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Martin Mosley.
Other survivors include two sons, Brandon Lee Mosley and Eric Shawn Mosley, both of Indiana; step-mother, Ollie Cox Mosley of Hindman; three daughters, Sara May Tucker of Thorton, Mandy Mae Mosley and Brandy LaShawn Mosley, both of Pinetop; one brother, Shelby Dean Mosley of Pippa Passes; two sisters, Donna Morgan of Lesley County, Debbie Bentley of Stanford; three step-sisters, Melissa Campbell of Mousie, Missy Wallen, and Sabrina Wallen, both of Hindman.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, December 24, at 11 a.m., at the Hindman United Baptist Church at Owens Branch, with Donald Collins, L.D. Mosley, and Cullin Caudill officiating.
Burial will be in the Frank Reynolds Cemetery, at Mallie, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin.
Billy G. Pettit
Billy G. Pettit, 63, of Whitesburg, died Tuesday, December 19, 2000, at his residence, following an extended illness.
Born on February 23, 1937, in Switzerland County, Indiana, he was the son of the late Luther and Margaret Woods Pettit. He was a disabled coal miner and veteran.
He was also a musician on the Grand Ole’ Opry, as well as a song writer for Accuff and Rose Publishing in Nashville, Tennessee. He also performed with the Del Reeves Band for seven years, as well as Loretta Lynn. He attended the Whitesburg Church of God, Whitesburg.
He is survived by his wife, Ida Lavern McIntosh.
Other survivors include two sons, Billy Dale Pettit of Rexville, Indiana, Timothy Pettit of Austin, Indiana; two daughters, Ella McCoy of Austin, Indiana, Bonnie Ann of Louisville; one sister, Betty Jean Bentz of Madison, Indiana.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 22, at 11 a.m., at the Whitesburg Church of God, with Tony Brown officiating.
Burial will be in the American Legion Cemetery, Whitesburg, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin.
Evelyn C. Caudill
Evelyn C. Caudill, 98, of Fruitland Park, Florida, died Friday, December 15, 2000.
Born in Floyd County, She was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Kimber of Detroit, Michigan, Ray of Fruitland Park, Florida, Donald of Lancaster, Ohio, Vernon of Redding, California; three daughters, Ruth Campbell and Augusta Rinehart, both of Summerfield, Florida, Barbara Ferguson of Phoenix, Arizona, 23 grandchldren, 42 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Beyers Funeral Home, Leesburg, Florida is in charge of arrangements.
Jerry Neal Edmonds
Jerry Neal Edmonds, 53, of Harold, died Tuesday, December 19, 2000, at the VA Medical Center at Wayne, West Virginia.
He was born May 21, 1947, the son of the late Willard and Draxie Ramey Edmonds. He was a retired federal mine inspector and artist. He was an Air Force Vietnam veteran.
He is survived by two sons, Jonathan Edmonds and Lucas Edmonds, both of Richmond; one daughter, Leslie Reach of Lexington; one brother, Bud Edmonds of Harold; three sisters, Patty Jent of Harold, Jenetta Gray of Pikeville and Glennis Davis of Inez; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 23, at 1 p.m. at the Justice Funeral Home, Pikeville, with Paul Dean Justice officiating.
Burial will be in the Annie E. Young Cemetery at E. Shelbiana, under the direction of Justice Funeral Home.
Norma C. Meade
Norma C. Meade, 81, of Pikeville, died Tuesday, December 19, 2000, at the Pikeville Methodist Hospital.
Born August 10, 1919, in Floyd County, she was the daughter of the late Bertha Taylor Cornett and Hobert Cornett.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Meade.
Survivors include two sons, Lucian Meade and Billy C. Meade; five daughters, Patsy Blackburn, Lucinda Greer and Karen Blackburn, all of Pikeville, Nancy Hughes of East Point, Judy Ledford of Paint Lick; two brothers, Clinton Cornett of Lincoln Park, Michigan, Jack Cornett of Manila, Michigan; three sisters, Elizabeth Dotson of Lexington, Pearl Spears of Lawrenceburg, Emma Ruth Cornette of Louisville, 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 22, at 11:00 a.m., at the Meta Baptist Church, with Meta Baptist ministers officiating.
Burial will be in the Lowe Cemetery, at Mike’s Branch, under the direction of J.W. Call & Son Funeral Home.
Sheryl Leigh Sorrells Fuelling
Sheryl Fuelling, 33, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, died Sunday, December 17, 2000.
Born in Portsmouth, Virginia, whe was the daughter of Ted and Vera Sorrells of Van Lear. She attended the Haygood United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, David J. Fuelling.
Other survivors include two sisters, Vera “Kathy” Avery of Dothan, Alabama, and Tamra Sorrells of Prestonsburg; two brothers, William MacConnell of Cross City, Florida and Robert MacConnell of Hartford, Alabama.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, December 21, at 1 p.m., at the Haygood United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mike Noble officiating.
Burial was in the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel.
Ulavene Gunnells
Ulavene Gunnells, 78, of Stanville, died Tuesday, November 19, 2000, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Huntington, West Virginia.
Born July 4, 1922, in Floyd County, she was the daughter of John B. and Sarah Lewis Hunt.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Gunnells.
Survivors include three brothers, George Hunt of Stanville, Harvey Hunt of Tram and Rex Ross of Prestonsburg; four sisters, Laura Akers of Prestonsburg, Callie Cecil of Spring Hill, Florida, Ruby Hunt of Westland, Michigan, and Ocie Pelfrey of Holiday, Florida.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 23, at Hall Funeral Home Chapel with Jack Hunt and James Harmon officiating.
Burial will be in the Davidson Memorial Gardens at Ivel, under the direction of Hall Funeral Home.
Virginia K. Meade
Virginia K. Meade, 76, of Hi Hat, died Wednesday, December 20, 2000, at the Friendship Manor Nursing Home, Pewee Valley.
She was born November 2, 1924, in Portsmouth, Ohio, the daughter of the late John Kitchen and Lucy Casebolt Kitchen. She was a former food service manager at Osborne Elementary School and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Prestonsburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Meade.
Survivors include one son, James R. Meade of Prestonsburg; one daughter, Paula Blackburn of Louisville; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 23, at 11 a.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, with Minister Bob Cunningham officiating.
Burial will be in Newman Cemetery, Hi Hat, under the direction of Hall Funeral Home.
