Tommy Crum, 76, of Arkansas Creek, Martin, died Monday, December 18, 2000, at his residence, following an extended illness.
Born on August 27, 1924, in Floyd County, he was the son of the late Tom and Nancy Robinson Crum. He was a retired coal miner, a member of the U.M.W.A., and a member of the Church of Christ at Arkansas Creek.
He is survived by his wife, Roxie Mae Robinson Crum.
Other survivors include four sons, Mitchell Crum of McDowell, Steven Crum, Joey Crum and Alan Crum, of Martin; five daughters, Hedy Sexton of Garrett, Nancy Scott of Inez, Lucy Gearheart, Sparkle Conn, and Mona Napier, all of Martin; two sisters, Mary Samons and Martha Allen, both of Martin, 23 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 21, at noon, at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, with Church of Christ ministers officiating.
Burial will be in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, at Ivel, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home.
Lonnie Greer
Lonnie Greer, 50, of Pass Christian, Mississippi, formerly of Cornette, died Wednesday, December 13, 2000, at his residence, following an extended illness.
Born on September 7, 1950, in Leatherwood, he was the son of the late Harrison and Oma Allen Greer. He was a self-employed automobile dealer.
Survivors include two daughters, Connie Sue Greer and Gina Daryl Kassee, both of Leburn; four sisters, Aggie Donnellan of Lexington, Beatrice Brashear of Viper, Bernice Breashear of Hazard, Bobby Jean Day of Middletown, Ohio; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 20, at 1 p.m., at the Hindman United Baptist Church, with Bethel Bolen, Willie Collins and James Hughes officiating.
Burial will be in the Mountain Memory Gardens in Hindman, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin.
Hattie B. Hall
Hattie B. Hall, 82, of Hindman, died Thursday, December 14, 2000, at her residence, following an extended illness.
Born on August 6, 1918, in Knott County, she was the daughter of the late Ben and Dinah Martin Bentley. She was a member of the Hindman First Baptist Church.
She was twice married. First to John C. Amburgey, and later to Noah Hall. Both preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Ben W. Amburgey of Hindman; two daughters, Martha V. Butts of Lexington, Anna Bea Adams of Isom; one brother, Vinson Bentley of Mallie; four sisters, Attie Foley of Gallipolis, Ohio, Fannie Parks of Litt Carr, Della Goodman of Lexington, Maquies Bentley of Lexington; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, December 17, at 1 p.m., at the Hindman United Baptist Church, with Ricky Smith and Bill Kirby officiating.
Burial will be in the Bentley Family Cemetery, at Mallie, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin.
Active pallbearers will be Joseph Butts, Nathaniel Adams, Ben W. Amburgey and Shelby Bentley.
Mary Mullins
Mary Mullins, 53, of Hi Hat, died Thursday, December 14, 2000, at the McDowell Appalachian Regional Hospital, following a brief illness.
Born on February 10, 1947, in Bevinsville, she was the daughter of Melvin and Martha Hall Mullins of Hi Hat. She was a member of the Pilgrims Rest Old Regular Baptist Church.
Survivors, other than her parents, include two sons, Billy Mullins of Hi Hat, John Mullins of Printer; four sisters, Daisy Tackett and Liz Sparkman, both of Hi Hat, Ruby Adams of Wayland, and Shelia Johnson of Beaver.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, December 17, at 1 p.m., at the Pilgrims Rest Old Regular Baptist Church at Hi Hat, with ministers of the Old Regular Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will be in the Mullins Family Cemetery, at Hi Hat, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin.
Birchie Case
Birchie Case, 81, of New London, Ohio, died Tuesday, December 12, 2000, after a brief illness.
She was born in Honaker, August 4, 1919, the daughter of the late Johnnie and Rhoda Harvey Kidd. She moved to New London in 1952, and was a member of the Fitchville Church of Christ.
Her husband, Joshua Case, preceded her in death.
She is survived by one daughter, Gwean Anderson of New London; one son, Orbie Case of New London; two sisters, Oma Ricer and Oval Bolen, both of Willard, Ohio; three brothers, Russell Kidd and Frank Kidd Jr., both of Dana, and Truman Kidd of Honaker; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 15, 2 p.m., at the Fitchville Church of Christ.
Burial was in the Fitchville Cemetery, under the direction of Eastman Funeral Home, New London.
Mary M. Goble
Mary M. Goble, 93, of Findlay, Ohio, died Monday, December 11, 2000, at Fox Run Manor.
Born September 9, 1907, in Waynesburg, she was the daughter of the late James S. and Amanda Routon Wilson. She was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Loie Goble Sr.
Survivors include two sons, Loie Goble Jr. and Doug Goble, both of Findlay, Ohio; three daughters, Geneva Vincent of New Castle, Indiana, Loretta Helton of Arizona, Pauline Sizemore of Findlay, Ohio; 23 grandchildren and 6 step-grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 15, at 2 p.m., at the Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay, Ohio, with Rev. Juan J. Salinas officiating.
Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens, East of Findlay, under the direction of Coldren-Crates Funeral Home.
Orion “Pepsi” Calhoun
Orion “Pepsi” Calhoun, 78, of Leburn, died Sunday, December 10, 2000, at Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital, following an extended illness.
Born on July 8, 1922, in Knott County, he was the son of the late Lewis and Elizabeth Dyer Calhoun. He was a disabled farmer.
Survivors include one brother, Louis Calhoun of Tennessee.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 13, at 11 a.m., at the New Home Old Regular Baptist Church at Leburn, with ministers of the Old Regular Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery, at Leburn, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin.
Betty Jane Patton
Betty Jane Patton, 73, of Auxier, died Friday, December 8, 2000, at Highlands Regional Medical Center.
Born August 19, 1927, in Floyd County, she was the daughter of the late Bosier H. Wells and Bessie Emily Burchett Wells. She was a retired employee of the family grocery store.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Patton.
Survivors include two daughters, Suzanne Spencer of Auxier and Pamala Arnette of Salyersville; one sister, Audrey Josephine Nichols of Waverly, Ohio; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, December 11, at the Auxier United Methodist Church with Bob Wireman officiating.
Burial was in the Patton Family Cemetery, at Auxier, under the direction of Jones-Preston Funeral Home, Paintsville.
